There's a really great video on youtube..YouTube... it might be called something like "Star Wars Rebels: A lesson in hope". It's like an hour and a half long and goes through what a lot of the development was like as the first animated project following clone wars. It has spoilers in it though, beware. It was jarring for everyone, not just us viewers at first!

My boyfriend is ignorant and I don’t know what to do
If he is just retreating to the words "woke" or bringing those things up out of nowhere, then he is being a hit ignorant. That's such a blanket term that means nothing beyond a buzzword for primarily right wing media and their adjacent. Does he actually say what is "woke" about things, or just that they are? Is he randomly bringing up things that are "too woke"? What does he think that actually means? How is it harmful?
If he can't answer those questions solidly without dribble, then he either doesn't know how he feels or he's hiding his true feelings because you wouldn't agree with them. He also might be on social media too much and lurking on the parts where everything is centered around being anti-woke. This can exist in spaces well beyond politics as well. It's a massive issue in gaming and TV shows, for example.
Like you said, he isnt inheritently bad, but most people who say "I don't want it shoved down my throat blah blah" are usually looking for something to nitpick or be upset about.

Yeah if another account had it added, it would still be added, it could just be 20 name changes later so just harder to tell unless you had a friend with a tiny list. Hopefully the recovery pans out. Usually its easy to find what went wrong here but I'm not sure.
If you do recover it, immediately turn it into a jagex account though and save your backup codes.

Was this part of a jagex account?
If the account was name changed more than once since, you wouldn't be able to add it based on a previous name. The name is only held for 1 month or until it's double name changed, then it would be freed up. That may be why you can't find it on the highscores.
Best shot would be trying to find your way through the support pages to a recovery. If it's 18 years old then it should have a login name, and you can try to provide as much info as possible.
I ask if you ever migrated it to a jagex account because if someone else had all your info, they could have done that to yoink it.
