Pixar was the most consistently successful movie studio from 1995-2010, with all 11 films they released being culturally and commercially successful. For that entire period Pixar was either either in collaboration with or as a subsidiary of Disney. Their last 14 years and 16 films have been more up and down, but it’s still been a very successful partnership IMO.
Has there ever been another pairing of movie studios as successful as Pixar and Disney?
It is the day of the 96th Academy Awards and currently I'm watching Anatomy of a Fall (at home), before the show. Now, I'm 10 minutes & 48 seconds into the flick and while normally I can stay engaged/pretty locked-in, when watching a movie... here I am typing up this post, as this film's choice of music has me entirely distracted. I imagine, I'd be less inclined to sate my curiosity, were I in the theater... but in such a film as I believe/assume AoaF to be... 50 Cent was the last, and arguably the most discomfiting choice of music I'd have expected. Given this movie's (to this point) very sterile setting, I'm completely taken out of the (immersive experience with the) film by the blaringly familiar steel drum rhythm. Intentionally jarring, as I'm almost certain it must be... it just feels completely out of place, and from what I gather the song may be a central plot-point/narrative motif?? 🤔🙃😅 Pardon my preoccupied ramblings, but I ended up on my phone wondering if this song was the original instrumental that was sampled to make 50 Cent's P.I.M.P.... as it turns out, it's a steel drum cover often confused to be the original. 💁🏾 Anyway, back to the movie now. lol
Question, What do you think of Stacy Keach?
Stacy Keach in my opinion, is a really underrated actor, who I think really didn't get his dues. However, every time I see Stacy Keach in something, he really steals the show. On the Films I seen him in, I recommend Doc, Fat City, American History X, Gray Lady Down, & The Ninth Configuration.
I honestly think his best performances are in Fat City and American History X. In Fat City he plays the lead role of Billy Tully and The plot follows a former champion boxer who begins to develop a rivalry with a younger fighter (Bridges) on the rise, whom he is training. John Huston does a good job directing the film and Stady Keach does a good job in this film and the film as a whole really felt like a Proto-Raging Bull.
The Other Film, American History X, Stacy Keach does a great job as Cameron Alexander, A White Supremacist and mentor to Edward Norton's character. Stacy really portrays Cameron is the sleaze he is and how he just preys on vulnerable people and get them to come on his side to the KKK.
What I find interesting is that with both of these roles, Marlon Brando was the 1st choice for both of these roles but didn't accept so they went with Stacy Keach. I also read that Stacy Keach was the 1st choice for Damien Karras for The Exorcist.
Overall, What Do you think of Stacy Keach?
