Lying AC repairman gets caught by undercover news team when he was trying to upcharge $1,700

this is one of the things I loved about Elizabeth Warren and why I would have voted for her to be president. She was born into a wealthy family and was a republican until she grew up and realized how badly the rest of us are getting fucked. She switched parties, and she put a lot of effort into stopping bullshit similar to this.

JD Vance says that Americans who don't have children should be taxed at a higher rate than those who do: "If you're making $100,000 or $400,000 a year and you've got three kids, you should pay a different lower tax rate than if you're making the same amount of money, and you don't have any kids."

I got locked in with three roommates, but they were all deadbeats. I'm in between roommates at the moment. This is still one of the cheapest places in the area.

Why? Pagans aren't atheists.

The number of new homes for sale in the Southern Region (FL, GA, TN, TX, etc.) has spiked up to nearly 300,000, per Nick Gerli. This is the highest level of all-time. Even higher than the previous bubble peak in August 2006.

I make 40K per year, and I do pay federal income tax. I'm subsidizing your lifestyle while not earning enough to start my own family.

that's kind of true. Having children is subsidized to a small degree.

Hosting the Olympics has become financially untenable, economists say

BitterLeif
replied to CRoss1999

one of the odder ones is running. You can have the athlete stay at home and fly a couple of observers in. The observers make sure the track is to spec and that blood tests are verified so that the athlete isn't taking any performance enhancing drugs. Have the runner go around the track and time it. Compare the results to the competitors' times to decide the winner. This is easy and cheap.

Donald Trump may not have been hit by bullet, FBI director says

BitterLeif
replied to ElboDelbo

what does matter is that he isn't saying what happened. Dude was injured from an attack on his life, that's significant. Him letting people think a bullet literally grazed him and not coming clean that it was glass shrapnel is interesting. Why is he not saying that? It's character defining that he won't come forward with an answer on this.

I really want to buy one of those unicycles, but the dead stopping issue is problematic. There needs to be a safety to make it at least slip into neutral. I guess maybe that's complicated due to the gyroscopics.

Anyone else feel like this election is causing mass psychosis?

BitterLeif
commented

I think your pulse is closer to meme culture than it is to actual culture. Kamala is uncharismatic, but I don't see people talking about how charismatic she is. I hear people saying she's the least worst option, and that's typically how elections go. People who spend too much time online get weird opinions. I even heard a coworker say she's the worst candidate for presidency. I counted by asking if she's worse than Manchin, or worse than Gabbard (who is not running this time but would be awful), or somebody just like Feinstein. I know Feinstein is now deceased, but I was just trying to get across that there are people like that in our representation who could be worse than Kamala. You don't have to be a supporter of her to rally behind her in this election.

"most of the staff at the secretive top labs are seriously planning their lives around the existence of digital gods in 2027"

"AI will have no real impact and everything will stay normal. Until one day AI will be fundamental to our society and the new normal."
that's still a big difference from being a god.
