I love Reddit!

Diana’s flat and her reactions to “plot-lines and threats” feels inauthentic and only suit the story line. I want a fully realized witch! I honestly love everything else and every other character, but Diana and that is my dilemma.

Because, and this is just my opinion, I want Diana to be an adult Hermione Granger. I love Hermione because she never fits in and is always learning as I learn with her and I feel her pain and her curiosity and Hermione feels identifiable to me. But Diana is unknown void to me. I witness through her but I’m not feeling her. At least that’s my honest comprehension. Maybe I’m missing something here. I’m open to someone else enlightening me here. To me, Diana’s character is flat and trite. She is the vessel to move the story forward but she’s lifeless to me. She’s “unrealized” and still “spellbound” on the page for all her powers to be believed. The attention to detail is superb in every other facet, the rich history, characters and I admire these details greatly. But, Diana is still “missing some pages” - important pages about her actual character.

I love everything in this series but Diana. Why? Help me break this spell because I’m “spellbound” in my disdain for the main character. And that has never happened to me before.
