When has a character's powers been artificially dialed back so they aren't "overpowered"?

Mantis still has powers even tho Ego is dead as well.

I'd have to rewatch it but I don't recall Mantis' powers being dependent on Ego, o my that he found adopted her. I thought he did that because of her powers and what they did for him.

Sure, but we can make up alternative theories that make pretty much anything be what we want it to be. But what we saw on screen was first, Ego saying what he said and second, Peter needing the space suit thing to survive while Yondu died without it. We'd already seen Peter survive in space, albeit uncomfortably.

[EDM vs FLA] Barkov slow to get up after a hit from Draisaitl. Barkov went down the tunnel, Draisaitl assessed a minor for roughing.

Long series yet.

Probably not as long as you're hoping.

Bouchard tries to tap out while Ekblad chokes him

Still trying to understand how a jumping elbow to the head got just a 2 minute minor. But I'm sure someone will argue that he only left his feet a little, only mostly led with his elbow, and the jaw is barely part of the head.

I mean, it sort of does if they say "if I die you'll be just another Earth dude". And if it doesn't make his DNA completely human whatever DNA he has doesn't have any superhuman powers.

But Wolverine in the one with the Silver Samarai. They nerfed his healing ability for most of the movie.

Not sure if this one should apply to this question. He wasn't nerfed to fit the plot, the nerfing was the plot or at least a major element of it.

But it was explained toward the end of Guardians 2 that if Ego was killed Peter would lose his "god" powers.
