You'd think. But I wasn't aware of this being such a red flag when I married my ex, I just didn't understand why she was so mean to them..... But oh boy it's a huge red flag!!!!

Getting joy from watching children being unjaded, carefree, innocent, happy little proto-humans. Exploring their world with never ending intrigue.

All my nephews and nieces are too old now, they've lost all that.

But I'm a guy, so that's something I'm not allowed to do. (Damn I just made myself sad)

What Robert is trying to do is delay what actually NEEDS to happen in order to protect corporate profits.

We agree that it does need to happen, and "Robert" isn't saying that its not the future (the article even ends on that)

Make no mistake Robert and Toyota have one goal and one goal only: Maximize shareholder return.

He has a legally bound fiduciary responsibility to shareholders, its is illegal for him to make decisions that are not in shareholders best interest. Trust me, there is no mistake here. (Great story about how Dodge sued Ford for giving their factory workers a raise because of this)

Glad you acknowledge that number is not based on reality and that is part of the problem. People use numbers that are not realistic to make the challenge look much bigger than it really is.

So far I am the only one here that has given sources, data, and math to come to a conclusion. You have given conjecture and "I don't buy that". So forgive me for feeling that statement rigs more then a bit hollow. I was tired of doing work for numbers and sources with nothing in return (and I even cite this when I do! and why would I do that?).

Argue facts and data, not your feelings and conspiracy theories. and believe me, when you do that, I will absolutely admit when I'm given data that I had not known about. but so far nothing.....

Listen kid, I can see your passionate about this, and that's great. And you cant force someone to be logical about something they don't want to be logical about. Sometimes I think its worth it, sometimes it works, most times it doesn't and its not.

Have a good one!

So a .02 difference in total energy output.

Yep. Although maybe I wasn't clear. I'm saying we need to add an additional 4.14 trillion to our current 4.12 trillion we produce currently.

For growth...not to match our current energy output.

Nope,

We need double the amount of electricity we produce and distribute if we want to go full electric cars as we sit today (not taking any growth into the equation). Double the power stations, double the amount of copper wire surface area for distributions (this isn't exactly true, surface area doesn't double to carry twice as much energy, but I'm too lazy to do that math right now). There is no way around this.

We are replacing the chemical energy we are currently exploiting in gas (which most of it is bought from other countries and shipped here), with electrical energy that we need to produce on the fly locally.

We don't need everyone to adopt at once. Gas-powered vehicles are not being pulled off the roads.

This is what Robert Wimmer was saying, we just cant jump into all EV right now, it has to be a slow rollout. just slower then what you want it to be.

You can't tell me that it is not possible. I do not buy that. We are concerned with the developed world...not 3rd world countries...they are not the problem.

Hey, anything is possible, its all about the sacrifices we are willing to make to get it. Turn all those 3rd world countries into slave labor camps to dig out all the materials for batteries, and factories to build them. Lets all agree to pay %60 of all our wages in taxes to pay for our electrical grid (I pulled that number completely out of my butt, though I would hope we'd go nuclear for power and not coal). Agree that all batteries produced only go into cars (no cell phones, TV remotes, earbuds). This just isn't the world most of us are willing to live in so we can go all EV for our cars.

Look, I really want this to happen too. but reality is what it is. And Robert Wimmer is right. In fact I just bought a mower and paid %50 MORE because I wanted an electric mower to move away from gas (mowers are horrible contributors to pollution global warming). I wish we would move quicker to all EV,

And for what its worth, I'm SURE big oil pays huge sums of money to influence important people to disseminate info so they can keep stuffing money into their pockets. But this just isn't one of those.

your are not very good at this,

Ok, I'll help you out.

we are talking about shifting all "transportation" energy to our electrical system (I didn't think I needed to clarify that but ok)

according to eia.gov we use about 123 billion gallons of motor gasoline per year (not diesel), and we produce about 4.12 trillion kWH of electricity per year. 1 gallon of gasoline holds the equivalent of 33.7kWH, so by the powers of math, 4.14 trillion kWH.

so, we need to DOUBLE our electrical production and distribution capabilities. that's an incredible feat to accomplish. (also not trivial to convert gas stations to be able to have major KWH access to mains, but we need to solve the production issues first)

and no, we wont have battery availability in a short time to make up 4.14 trillion KWH of energy storage. I found that we plain on 2,000 GKW production by 2028, thats GLOBAL, so we still have a ways to go. at this rate we would need to double that global figure to 4,000 GKW to provide enough for just the US. Although there are some upcoming tech that could drastically change this, lets keep our fingers crossed.

I do agree that lots of consumers have accepted EV tech and it does continue to get better, still doesn't distract from the fact that it cant work for everyone yet (yet!, I think we will get there, but we aren't there yet)

you are correct by economy's of scale bringing costs down considerably. but we are also talking about many economy's here, not just one. can India ramp up, South Africa, southeast Asia? getting material we need for battery's is quite the global effort. Who pays for that infrastructure to increase their capacity? those poor countries? private businesses?

Your 22, You're hormones and dick rule your brain (just a curse of being a guy).

I don't think this is "not normal" as another user posted (for fuck sake, it's like 80% of new porn for some fucking reason (sorry I just hate that) I know it's all step sister but close enough).

Do not confront her about it!!! Do not take any actions on it. Not a single good thing will come from that and will likely be a dark cloud over your relationship with her for the rest of your life.

Jerk off to help get your head straight (don't use step-sis porn). Find a new fetish to let your hormone riddled brain obsess over.

[–]Cincibi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just my $0.02 here.

From all my years on this planet, I've found that people who've tried things when they were younger and enjoyed it, will start craving it again.

Every person is different. Some girls hate being used as an object. Some only enjoy sex when they are. Some will say they find it extremely disrespectful until they are in the right situation.

If your dwelling on this (and sounds like you are younger if you are, us old shits don't care) then it's time for you to really figure out if you are the type of person who is ok that your significant other wants to be used by a group of guys every once in awhile, or are you not?

When you have that answer for yourself, then it's time to talk to her about it.

Also, people will tend to say things to keep situations in good standing. So if she says that she doesn't want that, she will eventually, and she'll grow resentment towards you over time.

Source: I have a few FWB who's husbands are not into the kinky things they are into. (And no, the husbands don't know).

Also, not trying to persuade you per se, but remember it's just sex. I feel like we are all at least 2 separate person's. One is when we are overtaken with lust and sexual desires, and that only lasts a short time.

[–]Cincibi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What he said was true.

Your breakdown unfortunately is very shallow in scope. Think deeper.

Infrastructure isn't simply investing in business, it's a really big problem to shift all the energy we used and fossil fuels to the power plants, the grid, then small businesses.

Customer acceptance is a problem, not everybody can live with a limited range electric vehicles give us at the moment.

We really do not have the battery availability to make every vehicle electric, not even close.

Affordability is an issue, if CEOs were paid nothing it wouldn't make that much of a difference in the price of the car.

I'm not heating on you at all, I'm just making you aware that you need to think much deeper about the issues than what you currently are

[–]Cincibi -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

That is interesting to think about. Hell, if you start a gang to steal absurd wealth items, sell them, give everything to the less fortunate (Robbin hood style), I bet you'd be very hard pressed to find a jury anywhere in the country that would convict (so long as no one was seriously injured or killed)

[–]Cincibi 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Though I don't think that'll change the sentiment a great deal.

Far too many people are far too tired scraping and clawing just to survive, while looking around at the wealthy, posting IG crap of things we'll never have etc.

That does some major damage to our psyche as a society. To the point where we are happy to hear when rich people are being attacked.

I think we are all in a bad place here...

You can really get a sentiment here for the condition of things. Clearly our society is out of line when everyone is cheering for crimes.

The divide between the haves and have-nots is too wide.

I feel like you've only lived here in urban areas. That's a fine idea for those environments, but most the country isn't, and it's unreasonable to ask those people to turn a 1 hour drive into 3hours because you can't drive faster then 30mph at night

I think so. You can't have it both ways. You can't want to be a movie star and cultural icon to be adored by most the world's people, and expect people to not swoon/gather/etc when your out and about. (Although we should leave their families, children, etc alone)

We all want the upsides to everything, and none of the downsides. But that's not realistic. There's always a downside to deal with.
