Would you trust vegetables grown in native Somerville soil?

Never heard of the SIPs, that looks like a great system. I generally grow flowers (fine in the soil) tomatoes (I tend to prune to a single or double vine, which then becomes 8'+ long) or basil and other herbs. Basil is probably best in the soil simply because of the quantity I like, but I'm thinking I could do a balcony basil hydro set up, maybe bubbleponics? I've done that before

Tomatoes are tricky due to their sheer size. I have a trellis structure that's 8' tall but the birds eat them all.

I'm leaving my family

My cartoonist friend sent my father to a nudist colony and then drew him as a cartoon coyote and then moved to South Africa and we had goat at a festival.

" Clark, Hausladen, and Brabander (2007) acknowledge that raised beds are currently the most common “exposure reduction method used in the communities to promote urban gardening” (312). They examined soil lead levels over time and investigated produce and soil’s contribution for overall lead ingestion. Interestingly, it was found that initial lead concentration was below 200ppm in all raised beds, but over four years, levels rose to about 350ppm. By analyzing the soil samples, these researchers concluded that wind-transported particles were responsible for most of the recontamination"

Not sure if you've read this. I don't know what the answer is. I might try some hydroponics next year.

We all have some inner darkness, the only difference isln Massachusetts is thatw we haven't set up our entire culture to deny that fact unlike other places.

Ultimately this is why the Lakers have fewer championships.

Instapot yogurt “boil” function - does it just reach the temp, or does it hold the temp for awhile?

Not sure if this helps but I've noticed the milk stays very hot when I forget to open it after boiling, even after like an hour or two.

Homemade yogurt cost breakdown! Totally worth it!

Don't strain. Add powdered milk at the beginning before you boil. You can change the ratio of water to solids that way instead of removing water later. Try it, I think it tastes better too.

Cheap mens body wash/depderant/cologne that compares to higher end stuff?

Not familiar with Bad Boy, I like a lot of more old school stuff and stuff for older guys in general.

I wear unscented deodorant which is pretty cheap, I think it's Sure, a 3 pack is like $20? And for soap just unscented or lightly scented bar soap. If you want to smell good I'd save your money for fragrance.

In general if you want really long lasting inexpensive men's fragrances, middle eastern brands tend to offer very good value. Rasasi and Al Haramain are good brands. I have one called Al Haramain Portfolio Neroli Canvas which is similar to a few different orange and musk fragrances (it's a common combination). Very long lasting for a fresh fragrance.

For cooler weather if you want something darker and more mature, Lalique Encre Noire is a great fragrance. It has a woody, dark quality and is pretty long lasting, you can find it for like $25.

I am a huge fragrance enthusiast and wear many fragrances around $30. If you let me know what kind of smells you like I can make some suggestions for different occasions.

In many ways it's easier to make sacrifices at a young age. Easier to work long hours and study and live modestly. If your spouse is supportive you can use this time to build a life together.

Career wise I would say the way to make more money and work less hard than other people is to learn how to do things other people cannot do. Specialize, distinguish yourself. School is a great place to start doing that but it is a continuous process.

I love the Uni 207+ PLUS, but I have been forced to switch due to performance with highlighters
Discussion

207+ is my favorite pen. I like the understated look, lack of fake metal accents, and most of all, I like the archival, permanent ink. They are super smooth, I never feel them skip, and are just generally a joy to write with - except one thing. They smear with highlighters way to easy.

I use Staetdler textsurfers (not switching, I have a lifetime supply) and I did a test comparing the jetstream, the 207+ and the Sarasa clip (not dry) to see how long I had to wait for the ink to be dry enough to highlight without smudging.

Jetstream is basically good to highlight immediately. Maybe a slight smear if I press really hard within 3 seconds, but for all practical purposes it is fine. Sarasa is good to highlight in about five seconds, which is fine. Even 30 seconds would be fine - I write things down, do them and then highlight them, so I don't need instant performance.

The 207+? I tested up to 8 minutes, and it still smears. In fact, I just waited 24 hours, highlighted an old section and it still smeared slightly.

I do prefer gel pens, but it's interesting how variable they are in this regard.

The movie in question was the Beatles 'A Hard Days Night', the plot of which revolves around a live bbc broadcast of the band. In the movie, there is a control room with several of these monitors (labeled EMI). EMI was a company that made broadcast equipment in the early days of television.

This is a broadcast monitor used in the 60s and maybe 70s so that TV producers could view what was being broadcast live in their control room.

Many of these monitors have four studs at the corner of the screen, which appears to retain a piece of glass covering the CRT tube.

I was watching a movie last night and noticed in a scene that these studs have whiskers of what appear to be wire, oriented diagonally, overlapping the screen, as shown in the photo above.

Does anyone have any idea what these whiskers are called, and what their purpose was?
