It also makes you rethink necromancer even as a duo now that it’s a burn trait. More viable as a solo IMO. Will have to try salveskin. I bring alert trip mines all the time now to cause havoc. 😅

I just don’t even comment when people act like that. I usually let surgeons say whatever until I get to my breaking point. But the most cutting thing I’ve ever said when a surgeon was screaming and being horrible to the staff was, “You’re the most educated person in the room. Act like it.”

He was PISSED, but quiet the rest of the case. 😂

I never had any issues with him after that. I told my medical director about the incident and my response. She got a good laugh and was prepared for when he came to her complaining.

That went nowhere as my boss and the staff from the case backed me up.

Keep it professional and just remember that those people are either assholes or just so miserable that they try to take it out on everyone. They’re like a wounded animal. There’s nothing we can do aside from try to keep a clear head and check them when appropriate. /rant

They do that until there’s a bad outcome and then realize how much they’d have to pay in a lawsuit.

Same with paying your staff and having brain drain from low pay… it never ceases to amaze me how shortsighted organizations can be. Sometimes you have to spend money to make money.

Agreed. It’s forgivable for people to make stupid decisions under stress. But man… in Covenenat where David is like, “Hey, I’m a weird possibly hostile android on an alien world with hostile life… you should REALLY look at this Alien egg…”

So frustrating. Romulus had a lot of cool ideas, expanded the lore in interesting ways, and in my opinion, didn’t have moments like we’ve seen in Covenant and some of the other movies.

Years ago, when I worked in ICU, I had a patient with HIV explosively vomit in my face. I got it all in one of my eyes. It was awful. I went to an eyewash station and used it thoroughly.

I took the meds, it was only for a few days. I felt mildly nauseated, but that was it. Protocols and meds have improved drastically since then, as this happened in 2008 or 2009. I also spoke to an excellent ID specialist at the time and he said that the incidence of transmission via gastric contents was slim. Not the same as your situation, but similar. Anyhoo, I took the meds and have been fine ever since. Prayers and god vibes.

The Brain rot is a choice. There’s a difference between succumbing to dementia, something we don’t decide to do, and allowing a single news source to inform all of your decisions. I don’t see many of us doing that, especially when we see the results first-hand, everyday.

AANA conference was a disappointment

I also dislike us chasing the term Nurse Anesthesiologist and calling our students Residents. We’re a similar but different profession that practices in the same field (anesthesia). That being said, we need the AANA to continue to advocate for our profession. This has been going on since the early 1900s before the formation of the AANA and will likely continue throughout our lifetime.

This was my first conference, but I’ve had a great time networking and going to lectures, sim labs, etc. I’ve really been focusing on POCUS and other ultrasound utilizations. I also went to various lectures on the history of our profession. There’s a lot here. It just depends on your focus and what you want to go for. Currently wrapping up the conference right now. It’s been a great experience. I think part of it comes down to what you’re seeking… what you put in is what you get out. We’re all in this together.
