Where are the younger swingers?

Congrats on adulting!

Counter-point. We've met SEVERAL "12 year old boys in 50-ish year old bodies" at clubs; some people never grow out of that phase.

Also for a club owner it makes sense to add some form of buffer above 21 in a place where both alcohol and sex are involved. Hell, it could be an insurance thing like the cost of my car insurance dropped the day I turned 25 because I was in a lower liability pool for an accident based on my age.

Republicans Try to Blame Democrats, the Media, CRT for Shooting

The Texas power grid is one of three national power grids. They are the only power grid that eschews federal oversight,

It's because they refuse to connect it to any other grid so it exists only within the state of Texas, so they follow their own stupid rules.

Where are the younger swingers?

When you combine these things, the agree distribution is going to have the younger people in club or party around 40.

Also to add, Swinging is not an inexpensive hobby. As you get older you can pay for more swinger resorts or cruises, or clubs etc... That factors into it as well.

I like that our club doesn't allow anyone under 25 in. Like, even at 25 you're still putting your life together and some guys need some time to grow out of the "frat boy phase".

Intentionally fail an interview for in person role?

Yes. I also work at a company large enough that "IT" is 6 or 7 disciplines each with their own manager so it's great to get some "inside baseball" from the other teams.

WFH and Running Errands

This is the way.

I put in for 1 hour off in payroll for a doctor's appointment and my boss rejected it. He said "We know you work nights and weekends and early mornings as needed, if you need to slip out for a dr appointment just pop in in the calendar and make sure the team knows."

AITA for refusing to give my room to my married cousin

Gr8NonSequitur
commented

NTA: Others have had some great advice so I'll sum up what I think you should do (which seems to be popular).

They ditched you 2 days in a row on a "family vacation" for not getting their way, so you need to recognize this is a SOLO vacation effective immediately.

  • They are gone, so talk with the property manager and ask for a different room far away from your current one. Be flattering and gush about how much you like the hotel and the room and don't want to check out early, but your family isn't respecting your space so you need to put some distance between you. IE: Let him know the basics that it's nothing wrong with the room but your family (which he can't fix). Be open and accommodating if they are helpful and if you talk up their property enough you might get a free room upgrade.

  • Ghost your family until you see each other at the airport and that includes your father who isn't standing up for you. This means, no dinners, no meetings, do not answer calls or txts (leave your phone off or in airplane mode so you can take some photos) and go about exploring.

Ask the people at the front desk what they recommend that's within your timeframe and budget. Just disappear and enjoy your own piece and quiet. Know when you see them or power on your phone it'll blow up but that's not your problem. Just say something like "You seemed to be leaving earlier for things so I decided to sleep in and just do my thing."

The key here is to be calm and not lose your temper. They are going to be immensely frustrated for not getting their way AND for not getting a reaction from you. Buy some headphones and listen to some music while they piss and moan. Let them pound sand, it's not your problem.

Been WFH for 2.5 years

and all the expenses rolled up with maintaining the car,

Don't forget time commuting is unpaid time. I figured between unpaid time and the added direct costs of the commute my rate dropped 22% every day I was in the office. This also doesn't count items like maintaining a separate wardrobe or any lunches that I may have to buy.

I miss the commaderie, especially with people not in my team,

Fun fact, you can do this remote if you really want to. Just make time to talk with other people about non-work things as you are working on projects.

Gr8NonSequitur

I'm connecting with my coworkers and getting the scuttlebutt about the company that people wouldn't likely to divulge over Teams or Slack.

I find this interesting as I have the exact opposite experience. When both parties are remote I hear A LOT MORE about what's going on / how the sausage is actually made because the walls have ears. When both are remote that CYA tactic is gone.

Start with full time remote and if you are content to settle for 2 days let that be a negotiating point. You already don't want the job, so why concede ground where you don't have to?

I hope that the two of them will meet again

This would be a great way to kick of World War Hulk. Basically have Hulk take over and be pissed he was trapped for so long.

What is the oldest/youngest age you’d play with at a club?

Gr8NonSequitur
commented

We're 40's so we go within a +- 10 years, but it's not like we check IDs or anything.

It's more like "Do you look like one of our son's peers, or one of our parents peers?" Yes to either of those is a pass from us. The rest is fairly flexible.

Working remote with occasional office visits 2-4 times a month, should I live far from office and have no mortgage?

2 Questions. If you were 3 hours away is that ALL on train?

Also what industry is in that location for when you eventually change jobs? Is there industry there or is it WFH / gas station attendant space?

Apparently Kumail Nanjiani is rumored to be Booster Gold so here's an edit

Yeah, it's less of a "look" and more of "Does he come across with the right attitude / snark level....?"

How much physical cash

Gr8NonSequitur
commented

I have what I refer to as my "Redneck Emergency fund" of $500-$1000. I live a little more rural and random stuff like clearing a tree that fell due to a storm or getting your driveway plowed go faster and smoother if you have cash in hand.

How much have you invested due to working from home? Do you regret something?

Assuming you treat this as "business travel" the IRS deduction is 65 cents a mile (to cover, all costs, gas insurance, maintenance etc...) so using that metric you saved $12,350 by not commuting.
