IW Full stop. End Game was an amazing close to the saga but IW was on another level. Seeing thanos win and snap the heroes away for the first time left everyone in the theater speechless

Not even close to me, the perfect MCU adaptation of Thanos Quest and exactly what I was hoping for. I thought they may get into the Thanos Quest elements during Ragnarok but glad they left that to the post-credits and IW.

Iron Man will always hold one of my top spots but I get why it's not voted at the top in these polls ever.  The MCU has been around long enough now that Iron Man isn't an universally acclaimed by the fan base as it used to be, simply because there are plenty of fans who started watching (or were even born) well after Iron Man came out.

If you saw Iron Man in theaters it blew you away.  It was a breath of fresh air after the run of comic book movies we got from like 2002-2007.  It was awesome.  

But for fans that started watching the MCU five years ago, it doesn't get that same exalted status because by the time they started watching all the movies, there were like 10-20 other movies a lot like it.  It wasn't unique anymore and it doesn't hold that nostalgia factor for a large chunk of fans.

Iron Man got knocked out by Guardians of the Galaxy in a close 62-52 match. Winter Soldier got matched up against Endgame where it lost 70-41.

Because this polling is dumb. Every round is 1v1 between films so theoretically if they had Infinity War vs Endgame in R1 then Endgame would get eliminated.

Whilst unlikely, if the random draw (while unlikely) had trash movies go against each other you can theoretically get Thor dark world in this top 4

Best words to describe it, the one thing that bothered me was the lack of good villains in the 10 years of the MCU at that time, and Thanos being hyped for 6 years, to top that Ultron didn't feel as menacing as he should have. The only thing that kept me hopefull it will be amazing is the Russos, honestly I'm glad we switched from Whedon to the Russos when we did.

I watched Winter Soldier on opening night. I posted on facebook immediately after leaving the theater that I said it might actually be the best comic book movie ever, possibly even passing The Dark Knight. I remember a lot of my friends laughing at me, and asking if that was a joke. One guy was like, Captain America is so lame. He then responded to his own comment a few days later and was like “nevermind. You were absolutely right.” Lol

forreal, it was the movie that made me give a shit about Captain America. Never cared for his comics, wasn't a fan of The First Avenger, but Winter Soldier was a good enough to convert me to being a fan of a character I had previously thought of as corny. And they did it by just making a pretty good movie.

NWH was propped up by nostalgia and a huge desire for a continuation of the Infinity saga.

It was decent enough and fun to watch but it had a very dumb plot device to set up the movie which hurts it.

Infinity war full stop. Loved that it was action packed and had all the requirements of a fun summer blockbuster, but also truly felt like the stakes were high and no character was safe.

Because GOTG3 was never compared against 1. Look at OP post history, GOT3 was compared against Winter Soldier and was eliminated first round.

As much as I love vol. 1, that one always felt like the weakest of the trilogy. For me, it still felt a bit like more of a studio movie than the other 2.

Let's bear in mind, that with the exception of Guardians, that the other movies are only this good as they are becuase of the build up of stakes from previous films.

Yes, but to discredit them for that seems wrong. The build up of character arcs was a major ingredient of what the MCU was so special at that time.

  For example, what made Civil War so effective is that the character motivations felt like actual motivation built on past movies. Tony’s guilt and Steve’s refusal to give up control. Those themes were well explored in previous movies. 

 Compare that to the shoe horned reasons of Batman vs Superman. 

 The main reason why MCU sucks now? We lost that episodic feel in movie format.

If you watched Infinity War as your first MCU movie, it wouldn't hold the same weight for you as someone who had watched all the movies. the other movies are what makes the the best. not simply "good", since they already are. The Best.

The MCU has always been more than the sum of its parts. the movies would not be what they are if they were disconnected.

Whoah! Guardians barely beat out Avengers, 54-51, huge upset! And I was wrong that Age of Ultron and Civil War would be close; it was a total blowout.

I think for the second match my pick will match the fan pick with Infinity War winning. For the first match I'm picking Civil War but I think the fans will pick Endgame.

Avengers and Winter Soldier not being on this invalidates the list.

Avengers is the perfect comic book movie. Start to finish. It’s a thrill ride from start to finish. It wastes literally no time/scenes. Doesn’t need much explaining or even backstory for that matter. Each character gets introduced with more than enough info about them. And checks all the boxes for fan service.

Winter Soldier is the best non-ensemble movie. Even if you took away the “comic book IP” it would hold its own as a great Spy-Thriller. It also literally makes one of comics CORNIEST characters into a total badass.

Not at all. According to this poll Eternals is better than Black Widow, IM2 is better than Ant man and the wasp and Eternals, and AoU is better than Thor and Quantumania. I disagree with a couple of these, but that’s what the poll says. None of those 3 movies went up against GoTG3.

That’s not what it means. The poll is to show what his or her audience think the #1 greatest movie is. The final 4 does not indicate that the audience agrees those are the 4 greatest. It only means they think they’re better than the movie they matched up with.

You are the one being illogical by pitting the top rated films in the first round. You had Homecoming vs Civil War and Winter Soldier vs Guardian 3 in the first round hence guaranteeing that two fan favourites end up in the bottom of the ranking and then call the remaining "The Final Four: MCU Greatest Movie of All Time".

I'm not at all mad, just explaining that this system you made here is misleading. You're happy and that's good for you.

    It doesn’t make it meaningless. It’s all for fun anyway. If you can’t have fun with a harmless poll then why are you even here? Also it does determine what the voters think is the best movie. No matter what matchups happened in which round, it still would be the same winner. It doesn’t matter if the 2 best movies are matchup up in round 1 or the final round. The movie people think is better will still win.

    I was a big comic book fan and was never completely sold on the MCU…… until Infinity War. Immediately after seeing it, I watched through the entire MCU and then saw IW again

    I remember hearing my boomer parents mentioning Thanos in a regular ass conversation and having my mind blown. It was cultural phenomenon. The theatre experience of Cap wielding Mjolnir was earth shattering, but it almost doesn’t beat how struck dead the theatre was after Thanos snapped. When Thanos smiled upon a grateful universe and the film ended, I swear there was dead silence throughout almost the entire credits. I don’t think I’ll ever have a theatre experience like that again. The most eerie shit ever, and yet, I had a smile on my face.

    GotG was my first MCU movie and it'll always be the movie that widened Superheroes from people in funny costumes fighting other people in funny costumes to space travelling rogues. I had no idea Marvel expanded outside of earth. I knew it had aliens but I always thought the aliens came to us all the time.

    Infinity War. I love the others, even Endgame, but I think Infinity War was the opening to a saga finale. The excitement and roller coaster was something that Endgame could never match. Endgame, to me, was a finale- a close to a saga. It’s like going down slow and steady on the hill.

    Holy Moly, these are like my four favourite what are the odds. If we had Thor Ragnarok and Winter Soldier here in a top 6, it would be perfect.

    Edit: Anyone else voting CW and GotG? The Avengers are amazing movies but I prefer a movie more focused on smaller groups of characters rather than all of them.

    Tough cause I think Endgame obviously had the higher highs (portal scene is the GOAT MCU scene IMO) but I think Civil War is all around a more consistent movie. Can’t go wrong with either.

    Infinity War > GOTG. I think GOTG3 is the best GOTG personally but 1 is amazing as well

    I was at every single opening night during Phase 3 and it was so truly special. Like, too good to be real special.

    To this day I’m blown away by what Marvel Studios was able to accomplish over that span of time.

    But Infinity War,…. That took everything to a different level.

    There was a universal experience; the collective gasp at The Snap, the collective silence afterwards, the shrieks of horror at each hero vanishing, and the audible sobbing during the end credits.

    It took me days to emotionally recover.

    The Infinity Saga is incredible. Endgame is a perfect conclusion. But Infinity War is THE masterpiece. There is a genuine argument for it being the greatest movie ever made.

    I saw infinity war, more than a dozen times in theaters. 3 times with friends and family and the rest by myself. There was a small Indie movie theatre by my old house and after work, I’d stop by, get a ticket for $8, a bucket of popcorn and a couple tall boys. Some of my fondest memories for sure and it was just me living my best life

    Of the 4 I’d vote for Endgame.

    I expect Infinity War to win though. Endgame is better (imo) but IW is way more fun.

    I’d definitely swap GOTG 1 with 3. Not sure about CW though. Excellent movie. I think I prefer AoU though.

    The final battle was epic. But the movie drags on before that. Fat Thor wasn't a particularly good idea. The Cap & IM reunion was a big letdown. The fan service was a little too on the nose...

    God is it refreshing to not see a slug fest. Pretty sure before the climax there’s only like..2 fights? Cap vs Cap. Thanos vs. crew. If you even wanna call that one a fight xD

    I actually loved the time travel idea. Walking into the theatre I kept thinking “okay how are they gonna play this out”. The sheer joy of holy shit we’re gonna revisit all the golden moments and make them part of the climax?? I thought it was genius, and it not only celebrated the golden moments but also underlines Marvel’s signature ability of connecting everything, which is what made it so much fun in the first place

    Even the epicness of the final battle falls apart when you think about it for more than 2 seconds. We have all these heroes with unique abilities so let’s just line them up and charge straight into the bad guys…???

    Man, I don't know what it is about Civil War that doesn't connect with me the way it does everyone else. It's very middle of the road in terms of where I'd rank it for MCU movies. I also think Guardians 3 should be here over Guardians 1. BUT I agree with most of the other comments I'm seeing: Infinity War is THE GOAT

    This is easy infinity war has top honors. What i can’t decide on is if winter soldier or gotg 1 gets second place. Then there’s civil war which is very good too. Either way after you have those 3 sorted endgame comes next.
