Nikola Jokic is now the heavy favorite for 2023-‘24 NBA MVP

As of March 19th, jokic was the MVP favorite at a -260, and a ~45% of basketball reference. As of today, he sits at a -1100 betting odds, and a 54.3% probability on basketball reference. For reference, in 2022, Jokic sat at a +165 in late March, while Embiid sat at -198. Jokic wound up with 65 of the possible 100 first place votes that year. In the 2021 season Jokic sat at a -390 with a month to go in the regular season, and only eclipsed the -1000 mark with only 13 days of regular season left. In 2022-2023 season, Embiid sat at a -201 at the end of the season and wound up with 73 of the possible 100 first place votes.

The implied probability of this years MVP going to Jokic is now at 92.3% as calculated by the average of the top 5 sports book MVP betting odds

If we follow the statistical probability of past MVP winners, both Vegas and statistical methodologies both predict Jokic with a large lead to secure his 3rd NBA MVP. Though, large fall offs such as last year could also play a role with much time left in the regular season.

PSA: The Celtics have blown the fewest leads in the NBA

The Celtics rank dead last in the NBA in blown leads this year with 13. They rank 28th in 4th quarter blown leads and 21st in 10 point blown leads. Last year they were second to last behind only the Bucks.

To everyone calling this team embarrassing and saying that we “always” do this, please relax. Remind yourself that every other team in the NBA has done this more often than we have and we have already clinched the #1 seed.

Seems like folks really need to hear this after tonight’s loss.

What are some NBA playoffs performances that no one talks about?

What are some underrated NBA playoffs performances that no one really mentions?

Well known iconic performances for example:

Michael Jordan vs Jazz - Game 6 1998

Lebron James vs Celtics - Game 6 2012

Kobe Bryant vs Suns - Game 6 2010

Allen Iverson vs Lakers - Game 1 2001

Just to name a few, but what are some performances which played a pivotal part in a deep playoff/ championship run that no one really mentions?

Post Christmas: Suns have the 4th most wins in the NBA

Just facts.

Post Christmas the Suns are 28-15. Only the Celtics, Thunder and Nuggets have more wins post Christmas. And Denver only has one more win.

The only reason the Suns are in danger of the play in is because the rash of injuries they had to start the season.

When healthy the Suns can beat anyone. As seen by beating Denver without Booker in Denver. I don’t care if you are Denver, OKC, Clippers or Minnesota. No one wants to face Phoenix in a 7 game series if they don’t have to.

The last 20 games the Suns have been up and down. But that is just the regular ups and downs of an 82 game season. The Clippers have basically been a 500 team the last 20 games.

As long as the Big 4 are healthy I like our chances against anyone. Realistically there are 5 or 6 teams that can easily win the West. It will come down to injuries and luck.

Respectfully, Sabonis hasn't broken any NBA records!

In tonight's game against the Sixers, Domantas Sabonis has just surpassed Kevin Love's record for consecutive double-doubles, achieving an impressive streak of 54 straight games. There has been significant misinformation circulating online, as Love is frequently mentioned as the all-time leader, despite not even being in the top 10.

Currently, Sabonis ranks 11th all-time in this statistic, sharing the position with Elvin Hayes. Just to clarify, the true all-time leader is Wilt Chamberlain, who remarkably achieved 227 consecutive double-doubles from December 11, 1964 to November 17, 1967. Chamberlain also holds the second (220), third (133), fifth (83), and eighth (56) longest streaks in NBA history. Walt Bellamy, Elgin Baylor, Elvin Hayes (on two occasions), and Jerry Lucas occupy the remaining spots within the top 10 ranking.

This acknowledgment does not diminish Sabonis' incredible performance, especially considering the disrespect he has faced this season; it simply serves to highlight a factual record in NBA history.

I just had my biggest nba regret and the Portland game…

I was at the Portland Vs Denver game on Saturday and I saw terry porter and one of the regular tunnels. He was just casually watching the game from the moda center tunnel. I saw him and talked with him for a bit I even got a picture with him. I really wish I asked for an autograph though because I will probably never get the opportunity to see him in person again. I even had a hat I wanted a player to sign but I forget at the moment I met TP. I’ve been thinking about that a lot recently.

What NBA players do you see retiring at the end of the season?

Heres mine:

Blake Griffin

Al Horford

Kyle Lowry

Chris Paul

Lebron ( doubt it honestly)

Jeff Green

Anyone you’d add? If i had to pick one id bet money on retiring it would 100% be Blake.

[Wojnarowski] Betting limits on NBA player props vary by sportsbook, but are typically up to $2,000. “People were trying to do whatever they could to bet Jontay Porter props [against the Clippers] And then, just a few days ago, the same thing. We had a bunch of people trying to bet under for more.”

Mychal Thompson questions NBA's celebration of Sabonis' double-double streak compared to Wilt's highlighting Wilt Chamberlain's incredible feat of achieving 227 straight double-doubles is still standing

Whatt are your thoughts on this comparison?
