Fair enough. The quality of the chicken does matter, which is why I tend to eat at local non chain shops.

But ultimately, I guess my chain preferences are telling me I’d take an inferior chicken that was fried or seasoned better over a blander high quality chicken. Luckily going local tends to give me both haha.

I'll acknowledge it's mostly subjective taste, but Shake Shack makes a better chicken sandwich imo. Popeyes is a hit or miss, but most chains near me also make a better chicken sandwich. Dave's hot chicken is better chicken sandwich chain IMO as well, and it's not even the best hot chicken place around me. On the lower end, I'd also add in Jollibee as another that I personally prefer, it's a little greasier but if it's between that or CfA, I'd still pick Jollibee. Another chain that's no longer near me but is better is Bojangles.

But honestly, I mostly go to local shops. They don't tick off the large scale check, but I don't really see why that's important outside of business revenue. In all the nearby towns for me, I could probably list 5+ locally owned shops that offer better quality at a similar price range.

Ultimately, I think a CfA chicken sandwich is just too plain and bland. I have friends who like it, and they're final arguing point always comes down to their sauce. Personally, I don't like mine drenched in sauce, and I just find that there's tons of places out there with better chicken and more flavorful breading.

Again, no hate. It's not a terrible sandwich. You like what you like. But I don't get the love. There's too many good chicken sandwich shops around me for CfA to even be a consideration to me.

Fair enough. I’m fully aware my comment can come off as dismissive. It’s not meant to belittle the job itself. I’m simply pointing out how common being a vet actually is.

And I get it. It’s a contract, and it’s tough. But idk man… it still just sounds like a job to me. It just sounds like life.

My counter is simply that most jobs suck and are thankless. As glad as I am they do their jobs, I don’t go thanking teachers, nurses, or janitors for their service. I honestly don’t give their deeds on the job a second thought most times I interact with them. And I’m pretty sure a lot of people hate their jobs and would quit if they could. Quitting isn’t actually an option for a lot of people to begin with. I’m not sure how that aspect is much different. You literally can’t in the military, sure. But most people struggling to pay their bills and stay afloat can’t either. The option is there only in theory. But for a lot of Americans it’s basically an illusion of choice.

I’d also just like to argue that no control aspect is actually a selling point to some. It gives people a structured life in what’s basically a fraternity. People lost and looking for a purpose can absolutely find it there. Zero control over your life appeals to some people. Some people enjoy rigid structures, being told what to do, where to go, having housing and benefits figured out, and having stable employment. I’m not being sarcastic by the way. Having a lot of shit figured out for you does sound nice. I don’t necessarily see the no control aspect as an absolute bad thing. I get the appeal, even if I would hate it myself.
