Kinda funny how Embiid lives rent free in this subs head. Can’t we just enjoy two all time great centers?
I’m extremely curious to see what the endgame is gonna be here. Eventually the bill is going to come due for these teams that are shelling out essentially 6 drafts worth of picks for one player and it’s going to get ugly for a lot teams. Is this just the new norm where you then trade your best players the second things start to go downhill to refill your stash? Are we going to see 6/7 teams that look the post KG trade Nets? Is the NBA going to realize that this level of draft pick trade activity hurts its marquee off season event and create new restrictions on trading firsts? Or are we going to see a course correction from GM’s in the near future?
You think I can’t tell a good basketball team from a bad one without Kenneth Pomeranians excel sheet?
I think you have personal biases in a way a statistical model doesn’t. Sometimes those biases might allow you to peg a team better than kenpom does. More often than not, I’m guessing the model will do a better job than you. And this giving you the benefit of the doubt given that that only thing I know about you is that you’re a Pitt fan
Does kenpom understand nuance? If your 2 top players are out with ankles and you lose to a scrub does kenpom still weigh it as a bad loss?
The ratings are designed to show how strong a team would be independent of injuries so no. No model is perfect and that’s a noted blindspot that most people are aware of and also incredibly tricky to actually model if you aren’t using a player based model

2018 Oregon St. It was at the moment I knew we were doomed to irrelevance and 2016 was a fluke. At least there’s hope again now
You can’t just ignore the rest of the time lol. That’s not even a quarter of the minutes we played in the playoffs that year. And where were the rest of the lineups with Jokic ranked? My theory is that Jokic’s defense itself is not the problem (he’s always where he’s supposed to be), the role he’s forced to play in the defensive scheme is. Milsap was a pretty good rim protector which I believe is a must next to Jokic. AG isn’t the same quality rim protector which accentuates my concern
We have better defensive guys this season than we did ever before.
Plus, I really think Jokic is in cruise mode a lot of the time in RS. I fully trust that he can do what is necessary in the playoffs.
I hope that’s correct. You never answered my question about where the rest of the Jokic lineups ranked defensively in the bubble. That main lineup only accounted for 30% of his minutes

The Bruins second round loss to TB is gonna be hilarious this year
I am, I’m completely disgusted by this years tourney.
Lemme guess, you’re a Purdue or Arizona fan?
Gonzaga has actually slightly outperformed their seed line since 2000. That being said, according the barttorvik, it has had the fifth highest odds of winning a title over the same span and the 4 teams above them as well as the rest of the top ten except Ohio St have all won at least one so I guess it’s a matter of perspective
