Hey friends, I’m an American who recently discovered British comedy, and I like it about 100x more than American comedy. Something about it just works a lot better for me than does the stuff over here. I was wondering what UK comedians you particularly enjoy, or what comedy television shows y’all recommend? Currently obsessed with Richard Ayoade and Noel Fielding
Edit: You all have given me so many good suggestions, thank you so much to everyone! What a kind group
A subreddit for fans and critics of the 2003 show Arrested Development. Discussion, pictures and anything else Arrested Development related.
Maybe South Park snd Simpsons and It’s Always Sunny should be on the list as well, but what has 7 pillars snd also I’ve only seen the early seasons of each of those shows.
The 4 shows I mentioned in the thread title, however, I had the honour to rewatch over the past half year and holy cow they are real and they are spectacular!
Kids In The Hall is the smartest and most irreverent sketch comedy since Monty Python, full stop. Fearless and meta and also really helped usher in acceptance of the LGBTQ spectrum.
Seinfeld, the infamous show shout nothing. Four selfish, narcissistic friends enabling each other’s zany lives. Dense, smart, tight writing resulting in comedy that has aged amazingly well decades later.
Arrested Development, well, there has been nothing like it before or since. Like the guitar playing of Hendrix, it just arrived,BLUE (not a typo) us all away, and was gone. The later Netflix seasons are fair-to-quite-good-at-yikes, but those first seasons were sheer perfection packed with almost uncountable layers of jokes and references and gags.
Community is a BIT more grounded in reality than Arrested Development, but you know that was a deliberate choice made by the writers / creators for the soecific purpose of mocking and subverting virtually every existing TV and movie trope. Dense and incredibly meta.
These 4 shows have helped me through many dark and painful times in my life, and I am truly grateful that they exist.
Thanks for reading!

Anything to do with British comedy duo [David Mitchell and Robert Webb](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitchell_and_Webb) (including [Peep Show](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peep_Show_(TV_series\)) and [That Mitchell and Webb Look](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/That_Mitchell_and_Webb_Look)).
My second favorite would either be Curb Your Enthusiasm or Seinfeld.
Along with Peep Show, these are the only shows I can rewatch and still find entertaining. I appreciate new elements on each viewing.
What would be your pick?

The conventional wisdom goes that Community was at its peak in seasons 1 and 2, slightly worse in 3, much much worse in 4, and had a minor rebound with still unremarkable seasons 5 and 6. And even if the order of those seasons in quality is correct, it’s not be the degrees that is usually thought - S6 of Community is amazing and still some of the most witty, heartfelt, and original comedy television in the past 10 years.
Paget Brewster and Keith David were great additions with some of the series most iconic lines. The dialogue continues to be fresh and entertaining, there are multiple great plot conceits, and some hilarious jokes. If there’s a flaw, it’s the lack of Shirley and Troy and that the series doesn’t really know what to do with Annie and Britta- but that had been a problem since season 3. Plus, the finale is remarkable.
