Please don't be like the two ladies in Woolworths this afternoon who laughed, giggled and had a great old conversation while I stood there and they scanned all my returns of the clothes I bought for my baby that passed away last week. I made it quite clear the reason I had to return all the clothes. I also got a look up and down from them like I'm doing some kind of fraud until their manager came and said so sorry for your loss and told them to just refund everything. That's after I had to repeat myself holding back tears 3 times that my baby passed away before he could use any of the clothes and no I don't have that slip from the delivery box (everything still had tags and receipts)

When someone comes to you with tear filled eyes and says their baby died please be a bit somber I'm already a shell of myself

Points to the staff in Ackermans for sorting everything out for me with little fuss and no questions

Thanks

White people in modern day Rhodesia/Zimbabwe

Hello, I wanted to start off by saying I don’t know a huge amount about the Rhodesian bush war or what exactly happened right after the defeat of the Rhodesian army, but I am curious what happened to the white soldiers of Rhodesia after the war, and their families who were in Rhodesia, and is there in general any significant amount of white people left in modern day Zimbabwe that stayed? Thank you so much.

Someone commented we should stop talking race and start talking society... They are right.

In the spirit of this comment, I would like to propose that we start the topic with speaking about the basic building blocks one would need for a society. Starting from the household unit, to the street unit, to the neighborhood unit, etc.

Call it a Civil Planning group project if you will. Where we all contribute towards a cloud drive that has different folders for each unit.

The idea here is to form a collection of blueprints we could improve and refer to, with topics ranging from shelter, food, energy, water, history, culture, etc., within each folder-unit mentioned in the first paragraph.

Maybe we can - for once - just work together even in fun, and who knows, we could have started a great boilerplate for society.

What do you think?

Kenyans Cost Kenyans (F*ing Long Post)

Are Kenyans addicted To stealing even where there is no need to?

Good kenyans might feel offended, but I have been dearly costed by some entities. Even where kenyans earn genuinely, there is still need to pinch

Warning

Anyone aged between 20-35 should avoid pension schemes in Kenya, invest that money where it is meaningful, otherwise its literally opening a savings account where you'll be taxed to withdraw and you will never! receive the remaining portion of your amount from your employer. Actually, every old guy in Kenya is being paid with the money that young people have in their pensions as we speak. A pyramid scheme

Why?

So recently I got a chance for permanent relocation abroad, and I decided to withdraw my pension permanently given that I had the proper documentation and I had no other means of funding my flight tickets plus embassy related costs. I submitted this to APA Insurance about three months ago, and the madam who is in charge (pension administrator (a woman)) did not respond to any of my emails.

Eventually, I had to trick an employee into giving me her number. I called her, and can you imagine, on my phone call, with my airtime, she tells me to hold as she reads my email. This is something that is supposed to be handled by trustees, and she's nothing more that an intermediary, so that in case anything is required, they can submit a properly documented reason for rejection

She goes ahead and tells me, they have decided, they will only release my funds after I arrive where i am going, and I take pictures from there. WTF?! Are we becoming retarded as a country?!

My date of departure was supposed to be on 7th march, but she has ruined a lifetime opportunity for me. I am building a very strong case against her as an individual and not APA as an entity. I will do everything in my little power which includes life and death, to see her burn.

Save your families from this entities, you do not need saccos, sijui this, sijui that. These are all money laundering schemes. Ask Gakuyo

Craziest story you ever heard

So my mom came to the capital city in Nairobi when she was 18 for college .she was studying to be an accountant and met my dad who was in the army . A year after that my dad gets her pregnant and runs off to a military barracks in Nakuru .My mom now so ashamed to go back home decides to run away to laikipia since his father worked in Nairobi as a shoeshiner(I hear it was quite the hustle back then)this is after her best friend offered her a place to stay in their father's massive estate.so she stays there until she gives birth to my elder sister will just call her Irene.a few months later, her best friend's brother makes a pass at her but she really wasn't feeling it,ofcourse this doesn't sit well with the brother so now they start being denied food.this gets so bad that my sister suffers malnutrition and almost dies so my mom decides to pack up and leave but on the day prior to them leaving the elder bro comes to her room and tries to rape her, so now she has to leave at night with my sister and without her clothes and zero funds.her parents original home is muranga that's like a whole day's bus ride during those days (this is in the early 1990s).She manages to hitch a ride in the back of a lorry delivering goods to Nairobi and find herself back in the city .

Now all she has to do is find her father and ask for some ticket money to go back home.my elder sister at this point is having a fever and has had atleast two convulsions .so she walks to where her father shines shoes but her father isn't there not even a trace of someone ever working in that area.Either by luck or fate another shoeshine passing by sees her and recognises her turns out there had been a crackdown by the kanjo so he leads her to where her father now works .

Her father on setting eyes on her and the child immediately understands the dire situation and takes them into a restaurant where they have a much needed meal .remember it's been a little over a Yr since they last saw her and at that time phones weren't really a thing (this is to say not everyone could afford them)so they catch up a little bit and my grandfather has to close early so they he can take them to rest .remember when I said shoeshining was a good hustle?I guess it wasn't cuz my grandfather lives in a shanty in kibera slums .this is despite owning 8acres of land back home.a few more things happen after this but eventually my mom is able to go back home a few weeks later where things take an even darker turn .the post is getting too long though and I am kinda tired more tomorrow

“Unperfected” accountability and interdicting SARS from the attempted criminal entrapment of citizens in funding prohibited state activities

Accountability is the expectant dignity of citizens in the hands of servant leaders.

No action has been taken to remove all those implicated in the Zondo report from public service. The intentional lack of political will to act in line with the principles of broader mandated accountability, has brought about the question as to whether citizens should use the Prevention and Combating of Corrupt Activities Act (PRECCA) to interdict SARS from tax collection until there is real government accountability for the multitude of failed responsibilities, state capture, ongoing corruption and key energy policy failure, as SARS cannot entrap citizens into contravening this act via tax collection to remunerate bad actors.

The matter also extends to the inability of state actors to perform their roles in a professional capacity as the act specifically notes: "to act" is defined to include: [performing or not adequately performing any official functions].

PRECCA arguably provides a broad enough definition to incorporate gratification paid to public officers indirectly via the allocation of taxes and public sector employment of known state actors.

From PRECCA Art 4. (1) Any-- (b) person who directly or [indirectly], gives or agrees or offers to give any [gratification] [broadly defined and includes:]

• Money, whether in cash or otherwise (indirectly)

• Any office (public servant position)…(indirect)

• Employment [in public service]…(indirect)

• [Enables] the avoidance of responsibility for loss, penalty, forfeiture, punishment or disadvantage.

to a public officer, whether for the benefit of that public officer or [redirected via SARS] for the benefit of another person in order [to act ] ( or [not adequately performing any official functions] - see note above), personally or by influencing another person so to act, in a manner-

(ii) that amounts to-

• (aa) the abuse of a position of authority;

• (bb) a breach of trust; or

• (cc) the violation of a legal duty or a set of rules

is guilty of the offence of corrupt activities relating to public officers.

__________________________________________________________

Consider the implications of paying tax used to:

__________________________________________________________

Prop up a documented corrupt incumbent party with access to tax funding, who actively use said tax funding to fight court cases to avoid accountability and vote against accountability in parliament (eg . vote against parliamentary investigation' findings, try to declare failed national energy security as not within the national government’s ambit and deny personal damage awards against the appointed individuals and organisations for destroying the livelihood of ordinary citizens). Policy harm and posturing with ideological driftwood legislation that bludgeons the drowning citizenry, ignoring valid dissent from citizens as the incumbent government accedes in its ignorance to its own illegitimacy and unrepresentative nature (governing against some citizens as opposed to governing for all, in a mockery of democracy) .Shadowboxing the past as perpetual excuses for failed present agency, as the incumbent party’s own actions cast the very shadow they so fear in “dangerous others”.

The continued public employment of those implicated by the Zondo report, having a reported case to answer. (PS. The ANC’s integrity commission as an invalid vigilante mockery. There is a formal state report and no state level accountability has been ensured).

Lack of institutional ability to discharge the duties of office as failing municipalities, infrastructure and SOE are evident to all. Patronage rent-seeking, rampant crime and violent flair-ups with a missing in action NPA, all to a chorus of crickets and complaints of being “underfunded”, as if improper tax allocations for criminal justice doesn’t automatically invalidate the state’s legitimacy and demand immediate dissolution.

All fundamentally indicative of a government complicit in its own absolute dereliction of its mandated constitutional oath. Obvious, even before we get to the manner in which said failures ultimately re-emerge in the lives of naïve citizens on a practical level daily.

To name but a few in: Corruption enabled sewage poisoned water, national security failure and UPL toxic fires due to chemical storage near residential areas, state enabled manslaughter Esidimeni and building fires, blue light beatdown brigade, Covid looting, over-indebted state with debt wasted on achieving only prolonged economic stagnation and state directed dehumanising economic attrition…etc. So much loss suffered by citizens almost daily.

How many times can the same malfeasance appear on the Auditor General’s findings before it is wilful ignorance? A systemic situation are so dire, even judges lament it…(and thus there remains no escape from the reasonable possibility of the existence of corrupt activities being funded ).

https://dailyinvestor.com/south-africa/37697/it-is-safe-to-be-corrupt-in-south-africa-zondo/

Broader considerations in relation to the IEC also bear consideration, as a compromised organisation appears evident in not out-rightly deregistering said incapable political party, unable to resolve national key concerns over 16 years, with ongoing abject national failures (security/energy/water) and continuing blackouts.

No vote for self-harm policies or the destruction of a country by mismanagement can ever be reconciled with respecting human rights or a constitutional democracy. Loadshedding alone has rendered the incumbent party ineligible to participate in any further elections, as their absolute dereliction of duty abounds.

If paying tax enables all of these practices to continue unabated, do citizens then interdict SARS from attempts to enforce the criminal entrapment of citizens in violating PRECCA with tax payments that enable these known outcomes, as taxes have been evidenced to be used for these prohibited acts and the lack of accountability evidence the outcomes as intended purpose/use?

Or to take a page from the SARB, perhaps a more practical consideration would be whether tax has “not been perfected”, viewed in light of the failure of the social contract with an illegitimate, unaccountable government that hasn’t delivered…

No water in Marrakech still

I'm genuinely at a loss for words over the sheer incompetence on display. It's been almost 24 hours, and an entire city has been left without water.

How does something like this even happen in this day and age? Water isn't just a convenience, it's a basic, life-sustaining necessity.

People can't drink, cook, clean, or even flush their toilets. This goes beyond just an inconvenience; it's a public health emergency. The fact that the situation has been allowed to reach this point without a swift resolution is mind-boggling.

We're not talking about a minor technical glitch, we're talking about a fundamental failure to provide an essential service. It's high time those in charge are held accountable for their actions, or rather, their inactions..

Big fucking yikes...

On a scale of 1-10 how unhinged would it be to do a hijrah/relocate to Somalia as a women on your own?

It’s something that I have been thinking about for some time now that once I’ve finished school Insha Allah that I would like to relocate and live in Somalia or another Muslim majority country (but would 100% prefer my own country ofc.)

Most would probably wait until marriage but marriage isn’t really a guarantee in this life so I don’t see the point in waiting for that to happen before moving. But how realistic is it really to live on your own as a gabar in Somalia? In terms of safety and whatnot? Ofc ofc I would absolutely live close to family (aunts, uncles, cousins grandparents etc.) if not be literal neighbors with them but I’ve always wanted a place of my own.

Has anyone relocated and how did it go?
