Agent Kallus

Wedge accidentally gives up Sabine’s name in the torture room. Pryce says “we have a name.” Kallus escorts Wedge out. On the way out Sabine says to him “looks like they found someone who can do your job for you.” Isnt that blatantly obvious that Kallus and Sabine have met before most likely on multiple occasions and he just decided to not recognize her. Isnt that majorly suspicios for Pryce to hear?? But maybe shes just so far up her own ass she doesn’t notice anything around her lol. Or maybe the hair is supposed to make her unrecognizable?

He went into the elevator, beat up the storm troopers and got free from the cuffs, beat up a trooper guarding the pods, and entered the pod and was picked up by Hera all with no words said by him.

I honestly think I wouldn’t have liked it as much if he was talking, the sheer silence makes it seem like his life was truly on the line

Hey! I saw today, and I was curious about how fast Agent Kallus was travelling and what his acceleration was. So, through a bit of measuring and math, I decided to find out!

First, I had to figure out how far Kallus traveled. To do this, I measured the distance between his legs roughly spread from each other, taking into account their bent position through very rough estimations of Kallus' leg length. The distance measured on my screen was . Before the Kallus engages Zeb, there's a brief (and weird) zoom-in, bird's eye view shot. I assume the model of the Lothal landscape is reused for both the bird's eye shot and the gif, so by comparing the little details (outlined in red), I tried my best to pinpoint where Kallus' legs would've been spread out. From there, after re watching the fight scene frame by frame, ten times over, I tried my best to map out Kallus' trajectory path (signified in teal), starting from when he flips to when he's initially standing on his two feet. The next step involved me measuring the new width (7mm) and figuring out how many Kalluses (with their legs spread out) would be required to cover the whole distance moved by Kallus. Surprisingly (!), it would take only nine Kalluses! My working can be found (note that I adjusted for the slight bend in Kallus' path for some splices). Kallus' canon height is 1.95m, and when factoring his age (20s), and where he's from (Coruscant, replacing with average Earth measurements), places him in the 99th percentile. This means 1% of men in their 20s would be taller than Kallus. Using this fact (Kallus is not an average joe), we can use (these are the only ones I could find that immediately had buttock length data, I wasn't going to do further calculations), which reveals that Kallus' leg length is 100.46cm. Using an , we can see that Kallus' legs are spread at 77 degrees. Using some trigonometry (and assuming Kallus's legs are equal in length), we can calculate that the distance between Kallus' spread legs is 125.08cm (ignore the 5cm then, sigh). FINALLY, now knowing that 125.08cm is equivalent to 7mm, we can finally calculate the distance Kallus rolls over: 11.26m.

Next, I had to figure out the elapsed time. Using the gfycat timer, Agent Kallus starts to move at roughly .22 seconds and stops flipping at roughly 1.51 seconds. Therefore, the elapsed time is aproximately 1.29 seconds.

With distance and time, we can figure out average velocity through a simple distance-time equation. Rolling 11.26 metres like a madman in 1.29 seconds is equivalent to an average velocity of 8.73m/s. Let's assume that Kallus' average speed is also his top speed for simplicity's sake.

Converted to mph, this is about 19.53 mph (31.4 kph). Though this is significantly slower than Plo Koon's force run of 25.79 mph, or Usain Bolt's top recorded speed of 27.78 mph (44.7kph), it is still impressive that the ISB academy trains its operatives to travel in such a fast manner. Considering that the average jogging speed for a man is 8.3 mph, and for a woman it is 6.6 mph, rolling on your back ISB style does seem to be twice as fast, double the fun.

What's important though, is the acceleration. Before I could calculate the acceleration, I had to first calculate the time of the acceleration phase. Using the gfytimer, Kallus, staying still, winds up for a roll at . At around , Kallus swings his leg round to begin rolling to the side, precariously dodging Zeb's blows. However, Kallus briefly stops at to pull out his trump card: accelerated back roll. This roll begins in and ends at , which means the elapsed time of the acceleration phase is roughly .28 seconds.

Now we can calculate Agent Kallus' acceleration by dividing the change in velocity by the change in time. This gives us an acceleration of 69.75 m/s^2 for Agent Kallus. This is roughly equivalent to going from 0 to 60 mph (0 to 97kph) in .39 seconds.

For reference, the top accelerating speed by a Formula One car was 0 to 60 mph in 1.7 sec. Plo Koon using the force is recorded to be accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in .42 seconds. Agent Kallus, on the other hand, is able to do a back roll faster than a Jedi Master can move with the force. Equally as impressive, seems to be Zeb's reaction speed and combat prowess, being able to keep up with an object that is accelerating at such a rate.

TL;DR: Using standard trained ISB back roll maneuver, Agent Kallus could accelerate at approximately 69.75m/s^2) (about 7.1 Gs) - or, equivalently, go from 0 to 60 mph in .39 seconds.

This is a pseudo-intellectual parody of 's excellent post . All of my measurements are drilled with errors, but hey, it's 2am and I'm analyzing Kallus' back roll, wtf. Unfortunately, Kallus never again employs this technique in the show despite it being incredibly effective at both confusing and terrifying the enemy.
