Boston fighting hard to make it to game 7 only to get blown out in front of their own fans has to be some sort of masochism or something

"This means nothing if we come back and lay an egg on our home court."

and Brown actually did

That 7 Heat TO vs 8 Jaylen Brown TO graphic was OOOOOF.

[–]Philippinessend_me_ur_boobsies 1313 points1314 points  (55 children)

Dribbled them out of the game. Jaylen needs to fix that on his next team.

[–]Eastdanielbauer1375 673 points674 points  (42 children)

That’s what everyone said after they lost the Finals last year. I wouldn’t be too bullish on him drastically improving this part of his game.

[–]CelticsAngus4LBs 309 points310 points  (35 children)

if he ever wants to take the next step he needs to learn how to protect the ball and shoot free throws

[–][LAL] Nick YoungTheChipiboy 252 points253 points  (27 children)

Or Celtics need to stop relying on their wings for offense 99% of the time. Jayson fumbled twice too at the end of the game early in the series. They need a solid distributing point guard whose a threat off the dribble too. That's much more easier said than done.

[–]WarriorsKevonOlajuwon 115 points116 points  (3 children)

They tried. Started with Kyrie. Then Kemba, then Dennis Schroder, but they weren't good enough. Giving Jayson Tatum the keys was the right idea, him and Marcus Smart last year really helped. But obviously it can't get them all the way there. Honestly any point guard who is a good facillitator would work, hell Monte Morris would be fine lmao.

Guy plays like he has no fingers, ain't no way that's getting fixed

It wasn't a gentleman's sweep, but the Heat definitely made it sting.

[–]SpursDelta_FT 1844 points1845 points  (26 children)

Reverse sweep denial is the ultimate blue ball, well played Heat lol

[–]ConfidentDraft9564 816 points817 points  (3 children)

[–]RadPhilosopher 76 points77 points  (2 children)

[–]Pollia 214 points215 points  (1 child)

At home even!

This is quite literally the funniest scenario I came up with at work today.

Get absolutely rolled for 3 games, then clawing your way back winning game 4, then game 5, then the .1 second win at game 6. You get to go home, finish your game on your court in front of your fans.

And then BAM the worst fumble possible. Getting absolutely pumbled all game to the point the game barely looks competitive.

The only real difference was I had heat winning by 20 and instead they won by 19. Ah well, close enough.

Boston and Philly are two sides of the same coin, they just get even more hurt after being allowed by the script writers to get a bit further than Philly each year

They got a questionable DPOY last year… We get a questionable MVP this year… At the end of the day we all just ask to blow it all up and start over lol

Heat and Panthers had 6 wins in TD Garden this post season.

Celtics and Bruins had 6 wins in TD Garden this post season.

[–]SammyJohnson0387 30 points31 points  (5 children)

[–]Celtics Bandwagonantunezn0n0 417 points418 points  (33 children)

he should get mpj numbers honeslty if we are talking about other teams actually performing

[–]Thundertopofthecc 453 points454 points  (31 children)

Neither dribbles.

MPJ because he shoots instead. Brown because he turns the ball over instead.

[–]NuggetsCPage12 352 points353 points  (21 children)

MPJ has 7 turnovers in the whole playoffs. Brown had more in this one game

[–]Sunsyeeeeeteth 265 points266 points  (17 children)

7 TOs in 15 games is actually amazing wtf

[–]PlasticPresentation1 195 points196 points  (11 children)

Mpj takes like 2 or 3 shots per game that aren't cuts or 3 pointers and also barely passes

[–]76ersUsernameIHardly 96 points97 points  (4 children)

Imagine getting so far up the basketball totem pole that professional coaches give you the “don’t pass, just shoot” directive

[–]NuggetsAlcibiades_Rex 114 points115 points  (3 children)

And we love him for it. He's a play finisher, not a play maker. And since we have enough playmaking, he fits well.

[–]Timberwolveskirinboi 100 points101 points  (2 children)

[–]MavericksLeoFireGod 34 points35 points  (0 children)

There’s some dude on tik tok who was going through MPJ highlights all year just meming about all he does is shoot when he gets it.. he is whos having the time of his life this post season.

[–]Fit-Avocado-342 141 points142 points  (6 children)

Say what you will about MPJ, but he knows his limitations well

[–][LAL] Nick YoungTheChipiboy 148 points149 points  (4 children)

To be fair MPJ has to do MILES AND MILES less on offense than JB because he's got one of the best big offensive players to ever play the game on his team to set him up. Jokic is legit cheese considering dude can just hand the ball off to you on a curl route and you might be open every time.

[–]NetsChe_Veni 344 points345 points  (2 children)

[–]WarriorsBalls_of_Adamanthium 134 points135 points  (3 children)

Lol yeah was thinking about that. Jordan Poole did ace his audition though, at least, and we got a ring out it.

[–]Warriorsonehundredpawsent 34 points35 points  (2 children)

At least we got a championship out of Poole, so despite my frustrations with him this season I'll always be thankful for last year.

At the beginning of this years playoffs, if you would’ve bet on the heat making it out of the first round I would’ve called you a dumbass. The Boston Celtics:

  • Gave the Sixers hope before beating them in Game 6 and beating the fuck out of them in emphatic fashion.

  • Caused Embiid to garner infinite levels of slander as the MVP's season came to an embarrassing end.

  • Got Doc fired.

  • Fell 3-0 to the 8th-seeded Heat, causing everyone to load up on potential memes.

  • Won two straight after falling 0-3, causing r/NBAcirclejerk to go on suicide watch.

  • Won game 6 in all-time epic fashion, becoming the first team to host a game 7 after trailing 3-0 in the series.

  • Ensured that either they will pull off the first ever 0-3 comeback, or will blow the series after forcing a game 7, thereby guaranteeing that memers will get someone to clown on.

  • Extended Inside the NBA's season by three extra episodes, as opposed to if they had gotten swept.

  • Lost Game 7 despite having all the momentum going in, in blowout fashion, barely even reaching 80 points.

  • Provided Jaylen Brown a chance to have a Harden-esque closeout game, garnering him some surefire slander to end his season.

Thank you Celtics. Enjoy infamy.

Barkley said it best in postgame, Celtics only win on talent alone, they don't run an offense and aren't mentally tough. Need to make some changes in the offseason. Back to back seasons with a golden opportunity wasted. Can't run it back with the same team and expect different results. Embarrassing to perform like that in a game 7 at home.

“Erik Spoelstra over me!?”

The suffering was worth it. The Heat went on a revenge tour through the East this year.

See you guys in the playoffs next year Boston.

Just got out of Thai prison. Is Caleb Martin the best player in the NBA?

[–]knowitall190 87 points88 points  (7 children)

How the hell did Caleb Martin not get the ecf mvp. That dude straight up balled during this series

[–]BullsRedditUser19984321 45 points46 points  (6 children)

When you actually look at it statistically Jimmy still outplayed him, Caleb just showed up when it mattered more times.

The Rockets might actually give James Harden and Jaylen Brown $450+ million. Fucking end me

[–]fireman7833 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Used to pray for times like this

[–]WordNahMean 127 points128 points  (4 children)

Oh the irony.

At the start of the playoffs, everyone was saying how the East was a done deal and its going to be the Bucks, Sixers or Celtics going to the finals and the West was up for grabs.

Who would’ve thought the NBA would pull a UNO reverse card and the 8 seed is coming out the East while 1 seeded Denver pretty much slapped everyone out of the way to the finals lol

[–]SunsSub-ZeroMKA 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Everyone liked that

[–]Koolman02 82 points83 points  (2 children)
