I got into a debate with a friend about the idea of changing things behind the scenes to keep things at the parties level.
An example would be to give the party a hook for a wizard tower controlled by a wizard with a devil as a body guard. If the party goes at level 5 the devil is chain devil. While if they waited for a while and went at level 15 the devil would be a pit fiend.
I was wondering if other DMs were for or against this. As well as how players feel about it.
Edit:
To clear up some confusion. I’m not talking about leveling up things like town guards or bandits and such. Using the wizard devil example all the players hear is that there’s a wizard who has a pet devil. I don’t decide what kind of devil or the wizards stats until the players show up to his tower to fight him. As far at the players know that wizard has always had a pit fiend for a pet.

A gaming sub free from the news, hype and drama that surround current releases, catering instead to gamers who wait at least 12 months after release to play a game. Whether it's price, waiting for bugs/issues to be patched, DLC to be released, don't meet the system requirements, or just haven't had the time to keep up with the latest releases.
Those open world games like the GTA franchise, Saints Row, Mafia or The Goodfather, for example.
Svelte is a radical new approach to building user interfaces. Whereas traditional frameworks like React and Vue do the bulk of their work in the browser, Svelte shifts that work into a compile step that happens when you build your app. Instead of using techniques like virtual DOM diffing, Svelte writes code that surgically updates the DOM when the state of your app changes.
Dig, fight, explore, build! Nothing is impossible in this action-packed adventure game. The world is your canvas and the ground itself is your paint.

A few weeks ago, introduced the concept of DONUTLAND, a scaled-down version of the Redditverse for EthTrader. The aim is to develop a DONUT-centric economy within a Metaverse exclusive to this subreddit.
Based on the above I can't help but think... why build from scratch when there are well developed platforms that already have the tools required to build in the metaverse ... AND the audience and connections which can help us spread the word.
I am talking about a potential collaboration with The Sandbox Game.
Now, before you say it's a pixelated garbage, I tell you I have played loads of their events, and despite graphics I thoroughly enjoyed every single one of them. All events have nice story, have incredibly cosy and warm feeling, and simply make me feel joy for some odd reason.
They are still alive and kicking in the bear market... and constantly adding new collaborations.
If agreed on the process would go somewhat like this:
-
Finish the concept of Donutland (what's the purpose, how should it look, what types of events we want, make some NFT donut avatars to use in game, find use for Donuts in game etc)
-
Buy land plots in sandbox (quite cheap now.. one land plot is around 0.25 ETH now we need 1 to 4 max)
-
Hire professional builders/map designers which can build our vision into that sandbox map (these can be contacted via Sandbox discord)
-
Finally if we want to be official partners with sandbox that requires filing a form and passing their selection
-
With official collaboration we can reuse the map for new events, and activities in the future etc.
Finally in terms of "speculative value" this whole thing could be a solid bet since Zuckerberg has not given up on the Metaverse... in fact I thing he's pushing even harder. So we could join a new metaverse wave which is likely coming in the future ;)
