They are actually exactly the same. Bedrock is the same program on every device, except for like a few exclusive things. It's a modified version of the original pocket edition

It's a modified version of the original pocket edition that's updated and supports all inputs and devices. That's why files call it minecraftpe, even though the official name is bedrock edition. But, it isn't the same as the original PE.

Minecraft is minecraft but im a bedrock player and java is better, lower input delay,can change versions, skilled pvp, better boat physics(except boat lag) and a couple of other things, what does bedrock have? More reach…(i cant think of anything else)

Bedrock has cross platform multiplayer capabilities. That's the only advantage that I personally think bedrock has over Java. Unless you're playing on console. Then it's a little less laggy in general. Or at least in my experience.

I prefer the automatic farms on Bedrock, zero tick, more frequent structure generations, TRIDENT KILLERS which is huge. I can place blocks on the air spot in front of me which java can’t do. Armor stands are different… ugh there’s a lot actually

I meant big things, redstone on bedrock is unpredictable and inconsistent, auto farms are nice but most of the good ones are from java

I’ve never had issues with redstone in bedrock. In fact, I build a lot of redstone machines. Built a multi-item categorizer a month ago. I have an auto tree farm, auto brewery, iron farms are easier in bedrock too.

Silentwisper’s guardian farms and moss farms take care of XP and bonemeal. So I have micro farms for all my crops. Oh yeah! Lol you can bonemeal sugarcane in bedrock too. Have you ever seriously played it? I’ve played both. Played Java since November 2011. Bedrock is a lot better than what this sub makes it out to be

It really depends on the design. Of course using Java designs will never work in Bedrock, and vice versa. Although Java is usually better at redstone, I do like the ability to move containers in bedrock though, the old Pocket Edition devs were the goat for adding that.

What is better about it though? I see people saying that, but not providing examples. I’m assuming more compact designs? But the redstone machines I use in Bedrock aren’t very big, and they always work. So I really don’t know

Of course all redstone you watch from Bedrock MC people will work.

But a good example: jeb door. As it uses quasi connectivity. Needs different (more) wiring.

The zero tick sticky piston behavior.

You can most probably rebuild many redstone things to work in Bedrock. But as you wrote, it wouldnt be so compact anymore.

Java is way better from technical side and mods support, whatever bedrock offers in these terms is dogshit awful. I don’t mind the rest tho, easy world hosting on bedrock is even nice feature

Honestly the only thing I think bedrock has over Java is performance, at least on my PC. I get 40 more frames on bedrock, but that means the tradeoff of dying randomly

I have played a lot of both, and almost every difference favours java imo, except that bedrock has cross play (which is the only reason I have played a significant amount of bedrock)

However bedrock is still Minecraft so it's still fun

Nah dude. Having started on bedrock and then switching to Java I can say Java is better. Bedrock is still good. It's not like it's not still minecraft. But it's just a couple notches under Java. But if people enjoy bedrock then that's all that matters.

If I’m doing a single player survival world, I use Java. If I’m doing PvP, I use Bedrock. If I’m doing redstone, I use Java. If I’m playing with friends, I use Bedrock. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. Both are a valid version of Minecraft.

Partially because of mods. You can get things like custom capes and Bedrock effects from community-made content, which Bedrock only has as heavily monetized stolen content. If you don't believe me, check out Faithful

All I use are skins and I find online, I design all my capes myself, and I also find all my resource packs online, sometimes I got to manually edit or replace some of their content but that’s all pretty easy. Everything for the most part is available online or doable with minor hurdles so thankfully you don’t gotta use marketplace (unless you’re on like, Switch)

It’s a unique form of combat that isn’t really replicated in any other games as opposed to modern Java combat. Why I like it better than say 1.8 Java is because of speed bridging. Everything in Bedrock PvP comes together satisfyingly to me

Microtransactions are 100% optional and are put there just for consoles. Android, iOS, and Win10 still allows you to get texture packs, worlds, and addons for free online, hell the game even has a system that auto installs content for you. Every skin in Java also works in Bedrock.

You can still mod bedrock however you want. Minecraft legends runs a modified version of bedrock, say what you will about legends, but bedrock modding isn’t limited.

It runs on the bedrock engine, it's not quite a modded version of bedrock though. It's like the source engine being used for half life and counter strike, bu also portal, tf2 and DOTA, or how the unity game engine is used for everything from 7 days to die to angry birds to beat saber to city skylines.

A game engine is very different to a modded game. A game engine is the fundermental software that controls things like how graphics are rendered to the player, how physics interacts or how sounds and music are played.

My man, I am a big fan of FOSS but it doesn't really matter much what license the mods use when the base game is utterly proprietary (except for one or two libraries) and made by Microsoft. If you are a free software absolutist you'll be playing MineTest instead.

I’ve been playing Minecraft since 2014. I’ve extensively played Minecraft Pocket Edition since 2014, Minecraft Legacy Console Edition since 2015? (I found the PS3 version randomly at a Bestbuy or some random tech store many years ago), Java since 2015-2016, and Bedrock edition since 2017.

Since 2017 I’ve had literally years of playing both Java Edition and Bedrock edition extensively. And I can say with 100% confidence that Bedrock is massively inferior, and that Java is the better version in every way except multiplayer (outside of mods of course, because the Essential mod essentially makes Bedrock redundant).

That is why I finally stopped playing it regularly like a year ago because I still had work saves I was fond of (and I keep it bexyae I have friends who only have console versions so we can play together).
