This is all so heartbreaking now. In the sister wives sub, someone said, we've watched all the siblings grow up and I burst into tears. Sending so much love and strength to the family, holding Gabriel so close right now in my thoughts (tmz should have never released this information). So much love to Janelle 🤍

As ever, fuck tmz

[–]shiaddup 344 points345 points  (0 children)

Dang, this is so sad. Poor Janelle and her kids 😞

[–]Curlingby 318 points319 points  (9 children)

Heartbreaking for everyone but just thinking about how hard Gabriel has been taking his family issues, I really am hoping he’s going to be okay losing the person he was closest to

[–]yobabymamadrama 237 points238 points  (8 children)

If Kody doesn't fix it with Gabe after this he will confirm that he is an absolute shit parent. Poor Gabe. I almost feel worse for him than I do Janelle.

[–]Curlingby 122 points123 points  (3 children)

I’ve been thinking this is truly the make or break here. Either this brings the family together and Kody owns up and apologizes for his behaviour or he’ll never have a relationship with most of his kids again

[–]propernice 45 points46 points  (1 child)

it's so fucking sad that this is what sets it in motion, either way.

[–]Gildedfilth 61 points62 points  (0 children)

At least in my experience, losing my brother is what jolted me awake to just how abusive my parents were and propelled me to leave the family and commit to working hard on myself to break the cycle.

My brother was only 27, mentally disabled on the Autism spectrum, and made to endure endless physical abuse and endless anti-psychotic drug changes that my dad very cavalierly said “probably killed him” when he lost half his body weight and died of a heart attack.

My parents really showed who they were at this worst of moments, escalating their verbal abuse towards me and reminding me that the violence at home also extended to me. My husband and friends showed me how they really loved me and helped me carry on when I cut all contact 6 months later.

So while I have not watched this show and do not know much about this family, I can only hope that this kind of clarity comes to those left behind, whether that means they stop their relationship with their father or their father wakes up and decides to be a parent.

[–]Low-Appointment-2906 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i hope they don't exploit this tragedy for another season. this needs to be handled completely off camera

[–]Meneketre 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think that ship already sailed. Hopefully Gabe’s mom will be there for him because we know Kody will make this all about Kody. I feel bad for both Gabe and Janelle equally. Her son killed himself and no parent should have to burry a child, but no child should have to find their sibling’s body. It’s just so tragic all around. I’m wishing them strength because honestly, there isn’t much else I can do.

[–]SuSuSusiO 14 points15 points  (0 children)

No confirmation needed. Kody IS a shit parent, and has been for a long time now. RIP Garrison.

[–]throwaway_uterus 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Remind me, was it Gabe or Garrison who broke down into tears when his own father called him about some errand and didnt even remember it was his birthday that day?

[–]PetulentPotato 214 points215 points  (8 children)

It is so heartbreaking.

And yes, TMZ should never have released that. More importantly, Flagstaff PD should have never told TMZ. This is not information the public needs to know. It’s horrifying.

[–]Jolly_Discipline6650shiv roy apologist 102 points103 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's so important, so fuck Flagstaff PD as well for sharing that. The complete disrespect for Gabriel and the entire family but also Garrison as well.

[–]Etheria_system 33 points34 points  (6 children)

Wait the PD shared it with TMZ?! Jesus Christ that’s horrific. I’m guessing someone decided that making a quick buck was more important than this poor kid’s dignity and the privacy of his loved ones.

[–]PetulentPotato 52 points53 points  (1 child)

Yes, TMZ’s article explicitly states, “FPD says Garrison's brother Gabriel arrived at the house and found him there.” Elsewhere in the article, they say, “Flagstaff PD tells us…”

[–]barbaraanderson 25 points26 points  (0 children)

This is reminding me so much of the Kobe and Gianna Bryant situation

[–]bbmarvelluv 36 points37 points  (3 children)

Oh honey… how do you think TMZ is always at the scene of the crime? And that’s the same with hospital staff breaking HIPAA. There will always be a first responder on their payroll.

[–]Etheria_system 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It’s so disgusting. I wish I could say I was surprised but I’m not, I’m just sad

[–]nerdyandnatural 9 points10 points  (1 child)

Money, unfortunately. Worked in the healthcare industry for years and one thing we're trained on is protecting patient info from folks who want to use it for financial gain and how to decline/report bribes. Sadly some folks will still choose money over ethics.

[–]bbmarvelluv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I interned at the Kaiser LA hospital and I’ve tagged along to those meetings when HIPAA was violated due to an employee leaking stuff to the press. People have no morals.

[–]Resident_Singer_7457 114 points115 points  (2 children)

There is no way that entire family heard before tmz broke the story

[–]nalathewolfqueen 28 points29 points  (0 children)

My god….

[–]throwaway_uterus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, they're scattered across the country. There's no way some of them didn't hear it via media

[–]spiderwoman65 38 points39 points  (3 children)

Absolutely devastating. I’m crying right now as if I knew him. I just feel so awful imagining what his family is going through. He was so young.

[–]Raymom1 26 points27 points  (0 children)

You did know him from watching the series. He didn't know us, but that doesn't in any way diminish the grief you feel. Many of us are feeling angry and sad over this news and worried for the the family, especially Gabe and Janelle. I know Christine was also very close with Janelle's children.

[–]barbaraanderson 13 points14 points  (1 child)

Reading the headline was like a gut punch

[–]spiderwoman65 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes I felt like it knocked the wind out of me!

[–]MammothCancel6465 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This news had me in tears too and I haven’t seen the show in forever.

[–]wrenbell 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I cried too.

[–]Tregudinna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was leaked hours before TMZ had it though

[–]ANStaples74[🍰] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just found out about this about 30 minutes ago. I’m binge watching bcs I wanted to see where Meri & Christine’s relationship went down so hard that she (Meri) didn’t get invited to the wedding. I’m mom season 9 where they went panning for gold. I took a break & opened up IG to find Meri’s post about Garrison. I am literally so heartbroken as a mother of a 25yr old young man that I burst into tears. I don’t know these ppl personally, yet this news has hit hard. It’s especially sad to know Gabe was the one to find him. I’m in utter shock & disbelief.

[–]NotAThrowawayIStay 1095 points1096 points  (6 children)

He was someone who, in recent years (on the show), was helping to hold the family together when his father did not. This is a huge loss and just so sad.

I think he just posted the last few days about adopting a cat and adding them to his family (of cats).

So shocking (as these sort of things often are). :(

[–]NotAThrowawayIStay 389 points390 points  (2 children)

Also poor Gabe (his brother). That kid has been through so much and was often referred to as 'sensitive' if not 'overly so' by family. Cannot imagine what he is going through.

[–]whyismybigtoesougly 72 points73 points  (0 children)

My first thought when I saw the headline was about Gabe and Savannah and how heartbreaking this is for them

[–]TheJujyfruiter 30 points31 points  (0 children)

My heart just breaks for them both, I feel so sorry for the entire family but to think about the kind of pain Garrison must have been in to do that in the home that they shared, knowing what the likely outcome would have been, and for Gabe to find him and for it to be done in such a violent manner, it's incomparably awful.

[–]franticsloth 254 points255 points  (0 children)

Ms. Buttons. He also had a cat named Catthew. As an avid sister wives watcher, I’m so heartbroken by this. He was an honest kid just doing his best.

[–]TheJujyfruiter 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Honestly despite what they've gone through, the Brown kids as a whole actually seem shockingly well-adjusted and good people. Obviously you can't know someone through the screen, but at least from what we see, they're a lot more functional and decent than a lot of people are. But Janelle's sons specifically have felt like such a core of the family since the start because frankly, they were fulfilling a lot of Kody's absences well before the family split up anyway. They (and the older girls) shouldn't have been parentified like that, but losing someone who "leads" the siblings in an emotional way and has done so for basically a lot of the younger kids' entire lives is just way more than any of these kids should ever have to bear.

[–]throwaway_uterus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

was helping to hold the family together when his father did not Kody has never been the male that held the family together. Atleast not since the show started. If you rewatch the first seasons you'll realize that it's actually falling on Logan, Garrison elder brother. Logan's getting the kids ready, Logan's driving the kids around, Logan's fixing stuff in the home and car, Logan's teaching the kids how to do stuff etc. In fact you can see Logan giving dad encouraging taunts and smiles to get him to reveal that he has a new girlfriend (who he ended up marrying). A literal role swap. I always wondered what happened to Logan after he fled these people. I hope he's shaken off the damage of this early parentification.

[–]millenialbullshitecertified pine nut 705 points706 points  (14 children)

Honestly as children exploited by reality TV and family YouTubers grow up I imagine this will become a common headline. How awful.

[–]ThereAreAlwaysDishesI cannot sanction your buffoonery 201 points202 points  (0 children)

Yup.

Child actors had a tough time of it to begin with, but youtube, reality shows, Instagram and now tiktok have really pushed it into another atmosphere.

The ease with which to exploit children for money these days is insane.

[–]MammothCancel6465 135 points136 points  (5 children)

I hate kids being allowed on reality shows. Especially when it’s their home life. Like maybe if they have some talent and you show them in competition or practicing, but not day to day family and home. Let that be a safe place for them.

[–]coco_xcxnot a lawyer, just a hater 91 points92 points  (4 children)

Just take the Duggars as an example, all the shit TLC helped cover up over the years & never paying ANY of the kids. Reality shows shouldn’t even exist imo, they’re so exploitative and gross

[–]MammothCancel6465 44 points45 points  (3 children)

I agree about the Duggars. Hell, even the Kardashians had the two youngest girls as tweens in the start and now they have their own kids on the screen and all over public SM.

[–]barbaraanderson 18 points19 points  (2 children)

Tweens dancing on a stripper pole in a bedroom

[–]MammothCancel6465 8 points9 points  (1 child)

Did anyone expect things to turn out any differently for them after that?

[–]barbaraanderson 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I will say I’m a little shocked that Kylie had kids so young, but other than that

[–]Lucy_Lucidity 35 points36 points  (5 children)

I think you’re right. I get so angry about reality tv and influencers exploiting their kids. They desperately need some legal protections because it’s so ugly. It’s such an exploitative model of entertainment, even for adults. Children cannot consent to it. Just awful.

[–]Curlingby 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! I always thought it ridiculous how much the family exploited the kids for a pay day and they kicked out some of them when they turned 18 with no financial support

[–]millenialbullshitecertified pine nut 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Are kids on family social media accounts or reality TV protected by the Coogan act or anything?

[–]azemilyann26 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, they're not. They should be.

[–]demonsrunwhenIt's..... Rebekah Vardy's account. 4 points5 points  (0 children)

they are not protected at all, on either side

[–]Lucy_Lucidity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think so, but I’m not positive. I think I remember hearing that Illinois recently set some regulations to cover social media kids, but I don’t know to what extent or if any other states have joined them. It may have only been financial protections as well. I need to do some digging.

[–]Mumof3gbb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know you’re most likely right but I really don’t want you to be.

[–]DaKimJongIllest 383 points384 points  (6 children)

Man that is so brutal and I feel horrible for his poor mother. This last season of the show was really focused on how Garrison and his brother had been effectively abandoned by their dad, can’t imagine that didn’t contribute.

[–]ncmnlgdJoffrey Jonas 253 points254 points  (5 children)

The show has to be cancelled now, I cannot imagine them coming back from this. I think we’ve all speculated about these reality shows effect on the subject’s mental health, especially the kids who didn’t consent to their lives and dirty laundry being aired from the time they were little kids. We’ve seen numerous siblings struggle with their mental health — Hunter, Paedon, Gabe… and now Garrison. Having so much of their trauma accessible to the public as entertainment fodder can’t not have contributed.

[–]shippfaced 107 points108 points  (0 children)

3/4 of the wives have left anyway, not sure how the show could continue on much longer even if this tragedy hadn’t happened.

[–]Basic-Entertainer529 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I wish you were right, but I’m pretty sure they will keep trucking along.

[–]woolfonmynogginpadre pascal 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One thing I’ll say is that the mormon religion and related sects are very, very hard on mental health. I was taught some truly horrible things growing up that prime you to be vulnerable to their brainwashing. When you leave, you lose your foundation. To put the reality TV stuff on top of that is a recipe for disaster.

[–]throwaway_uterus 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Hunter, Paedon, Gabe… and now Garrison.

Interesting. Is it disproportionately affecting the boys? Why aren't there girls on that list? If it is, there's probably a deeper story going on in that family. Because I'm pretty sure the girls get meaner public attention than the boys. Especially the two girls who are making content now!  And we know some of the guys have manosphere animus that they direct at the more politically liberal girls.

Paedon for example did a vile interview last year saying nasty stuff about his sister Gwendolyn. And Gwen has implied their mother ignores the boys toxicity which makes the girls have to avoid situations where these MAGA types are present. Pretty sure this is why Gwendolyn wasn't at her mothers wedding.

[–]Living_Quiet 274 points275 points  (12 children)

I don't know a major TLC family, The Gosselins, Duggars and now Browns who have not been destroyed. TLC's content is exploitation, especially the kids who cannot consent or understand the consequences of having viewers pick apart every aspect of your family dynamic be picked apart on TV. These shows need to end and the show should end too.

[–]Lavenderfullmoon 197 points198 points  (2 children)

The youngest son on Little People, Big World was molested by one of the crew from the show when he was a child. These poor kids. I’m devastated for Janelle.

[–]atthesun 28 points29 points  (1 child)

wow, I've never heard that! And don't some of that family still have a show??

[–]userforgot 56 points57 points  (0 children)

I feel like I would include Honey Boo Boo and her family

[–]whyismybigtoesougly 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Don’t forget the exploitation of Here Comes Honey Boo Boo!

[–]plantainbakery 21 points22 points  (1 child)

Their entire lives are laid bare for all the public to see and scrutinize, without their consent. Then on top of that, they don’t make a dime from it. Especially evil of these parents and networks to basically sell their souls to tv, work them for 18 years straight from infancy and not even pay them for it.

[–]cameocameo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its abuse

[–]smellycat_14 11 points12 points  (3 children)

Let’s see what happens to the plaths

[–]woolfonmynogginpadre pascal 0 points1 point  (1 child)

They’re breaking up right? (Which would be a good thing)

[–]barbaraanderson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just seems like, from an outsider perspective, that ethan just returned to where he was before getting married

[–]throwaway_uterus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a huge watcher but haven't they already had two big breakups? I don't think the mum is still with the dad.

[–]confituredelait 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Amen to that. Honestly humans aren't meant to be watched and exposed to the public at that level, especially kids who cant even legally consent to be on tv/youtube in the first place.

[–]djnmad 183 points184 points  (0 children)

So sad, hope his loved ones find peace and I hope I never have to hear Kody talk about this on the show.

[–]yummyandgoth 165 points166 points  (2 children)

My heart goes out to his loved ones, I lost my dad to mental illness in 2021 and I still wake up screaming weekly from nightmares about it despite consistent therapy. Losing someone to suicide isn’t something I’d wish on anything, the only way I’ve gotten through it is with support from my family/friends, hopefully they can all come together and lean on each other.

If you’re in Canada or the US and having thoughts of suicide, call or text 988

[–]Mumof3gbb 11 points12 points  (1 child)

I’m so sorry. That’s horrible. My heart goes out to you.

[–]yummyandgoth 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much. He was the best dad anyone could ask for for majority of my life so luckily the good outweighs the bad 💗

[–]dramaqueen09 143 points144 points  (2 children)

REMINDER: If you’re in the US and need help please call 988. The world is better with you in it

Ps I don’t know what the number for crisis lines in other countries but I figure if you Google it you’ll get your answer

[–]enbyloserstan someone? in this economy??? 60 points61 points  (0 children)

this is the wikipedia page with a list of crisis numbers to call from all countries with available centers. please stay. you matter.

[–]ncmnlgdJoffrey Jonas 103 points104 points  (1 child)

I’ve watched this family since 2010, this knocked the wind out of me today, I’m sitting here crying. My heart breaks for everyone, Janelle and Gabe especially. I hope they all get help, especially Gabe. This is so unspeakably tragic.

[–]spiderwoman65 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Me too, I felt such a heaviness in my chest when I read the news. We’ve “known” him since he was a little kid. This is just horrendous.

[–]SukaPahpah 81 points82 points  (2 children)

During the last season, there was a scene where two of the moms and some of the kids were having dinner. One of the things he said was that Robyn could have Kody. How he didn't need a dad.

That's all I can think about now. I know he was in the military and I'm sure had other things going on. It's just a tragedy.

[–]salugo000 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Garrison was one of the kids who said he didn't need a father figure anymore. So many of them just gave up cause their dad was never there for them.

[–]biscuitboi967 24 points25 points  (0 children)

And he worked so hard during the pandemic - one of the reason Kody wanted Janelle to kick him out, since he was leaving the house - to save the downpayment for his own home. Where he was hosting everyone for that dinner.

I just audibly gasped and said “oh no oh no oh no” when my sister sent me the headline. I am sick to my stomach over this because I was so excited for his new chapter. ALL of the OG family’s new chapter.

But he is one of the younger adults that just seem to be - and this is probably the issue - one of the ones you “don’t have to worry about.” Not too sensitive. Or too flighty. Or too irresponsible. Or too young. Or too angry. Or too emotional.

A Hunter you could learn on and lean on and lean on some more. And he’ll just brew you some beer with his hot wife. And I wanted that so badly for him. And for Janelle to get her passel of grandkids - if he so desired to give her them - and her veggie garden in his backyard.

And now I just want them all to have peace. I’m so fucking sad for them and him and all of us who shared his his life but couldn’t share his burdens.

[–]877-393-4448 71 points72 points  (0 children)

He was really struggling with his father abandoning him and his siblings… this is just so tragic

[–]Chaoticgood790 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Omg that’s heartbreaking. I’m sure the family breakup and estrangement did not help. Ugh

[–]theunkindpanda 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Oh my gosh I’m so shocked. The older boys were having a really hard time after the family breakdowns, but they tried to be there for the younger ones. Awful that Gabriel is the one who had to find him also.

[–]skinnyhoar 42 points43 points  (0 children)

This is truly so sad to hear.

Honestly, I am so against children growing up in the spotlight especially in reality tv. All the messiness/polarizing nature of their family dynamics coupled with a show that specifically focused on that must have burdened the children with so much pain and trauma.

Enough is enough. TLC needs to stop giving nasty people like Kody a platform. May Garrison rest in peace 🕊️

[–]jojifukugood luck with bookin that stage u speak of 46 points47 points  (2 children)

My heart breaks for their family especially for Janelle and Gabe. I’ve been watching Sister Wives for a few years and you could tell just how much he loved his family and how upset he was upset with what all was going down. I cannot imagine the pain his family is in. I hope that Janelle didn’t find out via tmz cause you Really never know with them. So sorry to see this happen

[–]No-Educator919 26 points27 points  (1 child)

I wonder how the “Jerk” Kody will react or reflect on his death. Who will he decide to blame, Janelle, Christine or maybe even Meri? Know he won’t accept any responsibility himself. Time will tell. Blessings and prayers to Janelle and family. Sigh.

[–]Yobecks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I hope this makes him realize that these years he has spent exclusively with Robyn and her kids are years he will never get back with his other children. He needs to do right by them.

[–]bitchysquid 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I don’t know how to say how sad I am. I don’t follow this family closely, but to lose this young man is a tragedy. I feel especially touched by the fact that he cared about cats, including senior cats.

[–]ATR_72 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This is so hard man. I'm praying for his family.

[–]UglyMcFugly 23 points24 points  (9 children)

I live in Flagstaff (where this happened), I never watched the show but my mom and sister do… they’d say like “oh I saw so-and-so at the post office, I saw so-and-so at the store.”  My daughter went to school with one of the kids for awhile… anybody who watches the show, did it focus on him a lot?  Did he seem to be struggling?

[–]teenagewutang 63 points64 points  (7 children)

Yes, the most recent seasons focuses a lot on Gabe and Garrison being very negatively affected by their father abandoning him and his siblings

[–]therainshow 52 points53 points  (4 children)

Right now in the 2 main subs you’re crucified and downvoted for even mentioning that Garrison’s father abandoned him. That absolutely contributed to what happened. I’m sure Garrison had mental health issues and depression at baseline but having less familial support obviously doesn’t help.

[–]ahhhscreamapillar 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Abandoned him and replaced him and his siblings with Robyn's oddballs.

Was it all worth it, Robyn and Mr. Robyn?

[–]beethecowboy 15 points16 points  (1 child)

Absolutely wild that discussion about Kody being a shit father is being shut down on the main subs. I haven’t seen a lot of the newer seasons because I couldn’t stand Robyn anymore but to act like Kody has no blame in this is RIDICULOUS. No, he’s not completely to blame, but how could being abandoned by your father NOT have an impact on someone already struggling with their mental health?

[–]Moonlitnight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The discussion has just been shut down in the last few hours since the news broke. Everyone seems pretty affected by the news and piling on how this is Kody’s fault isn’t really productive or appropriate right now.

[–]theoutsideplace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The absolute worst thing that a loved one can do when someone is in a depressed, vulnerable state is to invalidate them. I recently saw a clip where Kody was accusing Garrison of being a narcissist. There’s no doubt that that kind of behavior made a horrible situation even worse.

[–]UglyMcFugly 8 points9 points  (1 child)

Oh god.  That’s heartbreaking.

[–]ArgentBelle 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The show also heavily featured him taking on the role of gathering the siblings from different mothers together and trying to be a solid stable rock for his younger brother since their father chose his youngest wife and her children over them.

[–]itsme00400 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Absolutely tragic. I'm so sorry for the family. He struggled a lot in recent seasons of the show, emotionally (along with a lot of the family). Devastated to hear this.

[–]willtherebesnacks 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This is heartbreaking. I’m so sad for his family and so sad that their pain will only be compounded by strangers on the internet obsessing over who’s to blame and who’s grieving properly. Fuck. I regret being involved in any snark subs on here, honestly. TLC is a scourge and armchair experts are only making it all worse.

[–]taintwest 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This one really stings.

[–]flatcurve 20 points21 points  (2 children)

We need to outlaw child exploitation in reality tv and social media. This is far from the last time we're going to see this.

[–]cameocameo [score hidden]  (0 children)

the ramifications are too serious. it's inhumane.

[–]HedgehogSammich 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My heart is breaking for this entire family. I've watched since the show debuted. I don't usually feel much beyond a vague sadness when celebrities pass, but this is hitting incredibly hard. I hope that they are coming together to support one another. No one deserves this.

[–]americanpeony 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The ONLY good thing about them exploited on tv as children is that maybe his family will have a lot of really good footage of him to keep his memory alive forever. I hope there’s a lot of extra footage they can keep private forever just for themselves. Heartbreaking.

[–]Etheria_system 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is so sad. I hope that he’s at peace, and that those who love him are given privacy to grieve. TMZ can well and truly get fucked. The way they report deaths is horrific. When are child labour / child protection laws going to be introduced to protect kids from families who want to use their lives for profit?

[–]Gonuts4donuts1955 9 points10 points  (0 children)

FUCk TMZ. Shame on them. My heart hurts for this family, especially Gabriel.

And I’m sorry, I will never defend or support Kody, but this has to be hitting him extremely hard given their estrangement. Kody has been very cruel and immature especially since 2020. I hope he changes his ways and grows up and hugs his damn kids every once in a while.

[–]2muchlove2give 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Whattttt the fuck

[–]Aggressive-Story3671 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s devastating. May he rest in peace

[–]honeypossum13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This breaks my heart. I haven’t watched the show in years but I used to. Those poor kids have struggled a lot within that family. My heart goes out to all of them. So incredibly sad.

[–]YouAintFreshAsImIs 4 points5 points  (2 children)

I just want one state to have the guts to make it illegal for reality and social media families to film their children until they are 18 yrs old. At the least make Coogan Law applicable to both as well as child labor laws for entertainers.

[–]barbaraanderson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Illinois is in progress on it

[–]_minca8028 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Extremely sad.

[–]Jazzlike-Cat9012 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Omg, this is heartbreaking.

I come from a not dissimilar religious background and we just lost 3 family members to suicide in the last year. The church does a number on families.

This shit isn't fair. Kids like him grow up completely unable to control the fact that millions of people are watching him and judging him. Not to mention the stuff his family went through due to his dad, and TLC. It pisses me off that to this day, people are still making money off kids who cannot consent. It would be a miracle for any children raised on TV/online to grow up alright. I feel so awul. I can't imagine how much pain he was in. May he rest in peace.
