Old WB :" Hey Henry sorry about firing you on your birthday "

Henry:" That really hurt me "

Old WB:" Sorry for that we really want you back "

Henry Cavill:" Cool "

Old WB:"Your Re-Hired"

Henry: " Thanks Guys . Anything I should know"

New WB :" Yeah you're Fired"

This comment has been edited, and the account purged, in protest to Reddit's API policy changes, and the awful response from Reddit management to valid concerns from the communities of developers, people with disabilities, and moderators. The fact that Reddit decided to implement these changes in the first place, without thinking of how it would negatively affect these communities, which provide a lot of value to Reddit, is even more worrying.

If this is the direction Reddit is going, I want no part of this. Reddit has decided to put business interests ahead of community interests, and has been belligerent, dismissive, and tried to gaslight the community in the process.

Dude is such a class act. Super transparent about being hurt, but gave a positive way to think about it.

[–]whatproblems 4476 points4477 points  (168 children)

yeah it was a disaster but it’s not his fault. no point burning the bridge he can still comeback to dc as something in the future

[–]straydog1980 2468 points2469 points  (125 children)

I mean it also makes some sense - if they want to reset the entire shebang, you want someone who can keep that physicality and look in ten years time and maybe fifteen.

I think he would have a great superman if they had used him well.

[–]Zeusurself 1556 points1557 points  (80 children)

Gunn seems pretty smart about his comment and future collaborations note. They could easily use Henrys superman in the future for Crisis on Infinite Earth's or something. I bet that will be one of the big movies Gunn will try to get too.

Edit: this gained way more traction than I thought it would. I was just pointing out Gunn's comment. I don't care about the DCU.

[–]RyuNoKami 618 points619 points  (55 children)

Boom kingdom come superman cavill

[–]BevansDesign 224 points225 points  (4 children)

By the time they get around to it, he'll be about the right age.

[–]riegspsych325r/Movies Veteran 1426 points1427 points  (166 children)

he deserves a franchise of his own. Not even playing another iconic character like Bond, but something great and original

[–]GrilledCyan 1775 points1776 points  (91 children)

Loved him in The Man from UNCLE. If Armie Hammer weren’t a maniac I’d love to see them again.

[–]CompleteNumpty 524 points525 points  (20 children)

I guess there was a reason Hammer was good at portraying an unhinged maniac barely holding it together.

[–]Marakk1234 172 points173 points  (14 children)

Aaron-Taylor Johnson did quite well in Bullet Train and can replace Armie Hammer if they wanna go ahead without him.

[–]neverlandoflena 60 points61 points  (1 child)

He also is a better actor than Hammer imho

[–]MalHeartsNutmeg 285 points286 points  (2 children)

I watched that movie not long ago having no idea about Armies craziness. Was like damn this is really good, is there a sequel in the works? Googling that was a wild ride.

[–]phantompoo 614 points615 points  (43 children)

Replace Hammer with Hemsworth??

Cavill and Hemsworth would require a very wide lens for shooting…the full penetration scenes.

[–]PartisanHack 293 points294 points  (19 children)

I was saying this the other day but about Chris Evans playing a swaggering CIA agent off of Cavill's MI6 one. Really enjoyed his dickishness in The Grey Man and toned down to be less evil would be fun.

[–]OtisTetraxReigns 129 points130 points  (10 children)

Evans is great at playing douchebags.

[–]drethnudrib 76 points77 points  (1 child)

America's asshole.

[–]tchebagual93 88 points89 points  (4 children)

Was great in knives out

[–]Sir_Goodwrench 58 points59 points  (3 children)

And Scott Pilgrim vs. The World.

[–]Richsii 2151 points2152 points  (163 children)

Dude seems to embody so much of what Superman stands for and it's such a fucking bummer he never got to be in a great Superman film.

[–]Brown_Panther- 1079 points1080 points  (121 children)

Its been 10 years since MOS came out, he should have gotten his own trilogy in that time

[–]Capt_Kilgore 520 points521 points  (60 children)

True and wow can we agree that DC and WB are/run horribly to come so close yet be so far. They are goddamn mess.

[–]Studio2770 172 points173 points  (42 children)

Safe to say the DCCU as we knew it is dead.

[–]PM_ME_UR_SILLY_FACES 603 points604 points  (54 children)

I feel like this is actually good for Henry’s career and I’m glad he handled the inept studio PR bumbles with class. Hoping for better roles for him in the future.

[–]redditingtonviking 392 points393 points  (35 children)

Yeah at least from a fan viewpoint, Henry is one of the biggest stars in Hollywood at the moment. Great actor, great looks, someone who really understands what makes the stories compelling, and in general a pretty decent cool guy. For any studio who wants to establish a big franchise there's hardly a better leading man available

[–]suddenlycumbly 35 points36 points  (1 child)

Totally agree, he is a favorite in our home and we look forward to future projects from him. He's too darn good at what he does best!

[–]Pewpewkitty 528 points529 points  (1 child)

Dudes a class act

[–]Vegeta543 788 points789 points  (150 children)

Liam Hemsworth gonna getting uno reversed like crazy hahaha

[–]RespectThyHypnotoad 1499 points1500 points  (86 children)

I doubt it, seems like Cavill was over their bullshit. Sucks he got two of his dream characters, wanted to do right and got burnt.

I hope he finds a iconic character that he can invest himself into and be rewarded.

[–]Nidcron 569 points570 points  (49 children)

Henry Cavill as the God Emporer of Man in the Horus Heresy vol 1. . . . . . .

Unfortunately brought to you by Amazon Prime.

[–]No_Mixture6014 162 points163 points  (0 children)

Amazon Prime is the Imperium of Mankind of online shopping.

[–]MarvelsGrantMan136r/Movies contributor[S] 14.1k points14.1k points  (1884 children)

Gunn and Cavill both confirmed the news.

Gunn:

Peter & I have a DC slate ready to go, which we couldn’t be more over-the-moon about; we’ll be able to share some exciting information about our first projects at the beginning of the new year.

Among those on the slate is Superman. In the initial stages, our story will be focusing on an earlier part of Superman's life, so the character will not be played by Henry Cavill.

But we just had a great meeting with Henry and we’re big fans and we talked about a number of exciting possibilities to work together in the future.

Cavill:

I just had a meeting with James Gunn and Peter Safran, and it’s sad news, everyone. I will, after all, not be returning as Superman. After being told by the studio to announce my return back in October, prior to their hire, this news isn’t the easiest, but that’s life. The changing of the guard is something that happens. I respect that. James and Peter have a universe to build. I wish. them and all involved with the new universe the best of luck, and the happiest of fortunes.

For those who have been by my side through the years…we can mourn for a bit, but then we must remember. Superman is still around, everything he stands for still exists, and the examples he sets are for sure still there! My turn to wear the cape has passed, but what Superman stands for never will. It’s been a fun ride with you all, onwards and upwards.

[–]Kthranos 7051 points7052 points  (234 children)

"Hi Henry, I just want to let you know we're having a party and you're not invited."

[–]Jakethered_game 787 points788 points  (111 children)

Didn't he return as superman in Black Adam? So it's like they used him on the flyers for the party then didnt let him in.

[–]GrumpySatan 309 points310 points  (44 children)

Gunn and the other new head have basically been redoing the whole plan the last month.

This news kinda implies they might be doing a hard reboot of the franchise, if they are doing a young Clark working in metropolis. Maybe use Flash to do it.

[–]clevverguy 213 points214 points  (18 children)

It kinda makes sense if they want to build up The Avengers of the 2020s. 2010s DC was clearly a failed experiment, and it only makes sense to start from scratch. Super unfortunate for Henry though.

[–]Vio94 1807 points1808 points  (123 children)

Man. Henry really got shafted back to back like that.

[–]Pewpewkitty 13.5k points13.5k points  (396 children)

Seems like Henry had his life well put together with a high paying job and countless sexy ladies, and then he built a PC.

[–]Danhuangmao 7203 points7204 points  (212 children)

then he revealed he painted Warhammer minis

The writing was on the wall from there

[–]thatdogoverthere 4007 points4008 points  (86 children)

One of the only men who can actually afford to.

[–]PWBryan 861 points862 points  (12 children)

Him and Tom Holland became movie stars to fill their addiction

[–][deleted] 1257 points1258 points  (106 children)

Someone needs to start working on a Horus Heresy series. Looking at you HBO. I know the perfect actor to play the God Emperor of Mankind now that he is free from his roll of Superman.

[–]xSoVi3tx 251 points252 points  (37 children)

He's Valdor. Even plays Custodes.

I'm not sure Big E can even be portrayed by just one actor.

[–]Visual_Adagio7327 109 points110 points  (18 children)

Having the emperor change actors would be cool, since I'm pretty sure it's implied somewhere in the lore that nobody actually sees the emperor. They see the psychic projection of himself that he wants people to see.

[–]The12Ball 1288 points1289 points  (67 children)

What WoW does to a guy

[–]twinsynth 720 points721 points  (18 children)

James Gunn: calls Henry for a meeting. 5 missed calls Henry: one more game

[–]Equivalent_Yak8215 684 points685 points  (34 children)

And he fucking LOVES Warhammer 40k lol.

[–]Bigred2989- 203 points204 points  (25 children)

Can't wait for him to announce he's gonna play Roboute Guilliman.

[–]JinFuu 68 points69 points  (13 children)

What about the Hero of the Imperium, Ciaphas Cain?

[–]nisajaie 280 points281 points  (18 children)

Dude. He can build me a PC. I wonder how much he would charge for a Cavill edition.

[–]m4fox90 117 points118 points  (5 children)

Then he revealed he plays Custodes- it is better to die for the Emperor than live for your self

[–][deleted] 1460 points1461 points  (319 children)

Oh so Smallville

[–]GrizzlyPeak72 2087 points2088 points  (231 children)

I'm tired of seeing Superman just starting out or starting over like in Returns. Can't we just get a normal Superman movie about Superman being Superman? Have him fight like Parasite or something? Or Braniac? Haven't seen him in a movie yet. Perfect time for him, he's fresh and different.

[–]SeaTie 1105 points1106 points  (132 children)

Agreed. It seems really really lazy at this point to do a Superman origin story…again.

[–]cjpotter82 803 points804 points  (82 children)

That's one of the things I really liked about The Batman, he was already the dark knight from the get go.

No one needs to see Bruce Wayne's parents get killed, Peter Parker get bitten by a radioactive spider, or space baby Superman ever again.

[–]godisanelectricolive 284 points285 points  (12 children)

Except in The Batman he's still pretty new to being Batman and is still figuring out his vigilante persona. He's already the Batman but he's arguably not quite yet the Dark Knight.

That's probably how they are going to approach Superman. He's fresh to being Superman but I doubt it's going to be his origin story.

[–]impactblue5 235 points236 points  (10 children)

🎵“Somebody….”

[–][deleted] 278 points279 points  (61 children)

Maybe we can get that Lex Luther back

[–]notathrowaway75 872 points873 points  (239 children)

Not fucking around with the clean slate.

[–]GTSBurner 547 points548 points  (103 children)

So that likely means Gal is getting flushed too.

[–][deleted] 283 points284 points  (35 children)

Is it bad that I kind of can't wait for Johnson's reaction to Black Adam being ditched? Judging by what happened last week, it's either gonna be radio silence or a meltdown.

[–]I-WANT2SEE-CUTE-TITS 368 points369 points  (2 children)

The hierarchy of power in the DC universe is about to change

The monkey's paw curls

[–]J_Kingsley 138 points139 points  (7 children)

He already knows. Apparently Dwayne and his team were trying to get the same job as James Gunn.

They were rivals for the position.

James wants to start a new structured DCU.

Rock wouldn't fit. Aquaman also gone.

[–]Poiuytrewq0987650987 43 points44 points  (5 children)

Could you fill me in on what happened last week?

[–][deleted] 132 points133 points  (4 children)

He leaked falsified numbers to Deadline to paint Black Adam as a box office success when it actually lost 50-100 million dollars.

[–]badluckartist 278 points279 points  (13 children)

But we just had a great meeting with Henry and we’re big fans and we talked about a number of exciting possibilities to work together in the future.

Henry Cavill in 10 years as Kingdom Come Superman.

[–]Zoolanderek 2770 points2771 points  (159 children)

Introducing….Tom Holland as young(er) Superman!!1!

[–]dbx999 1911 points1912 points  (66 children)

I’m privy to some confidential information and I can say that Steve Buscemi is the next Superman

[–]closeafter 876 points877 points  (21 children)

How do you do, fellow superhero kids?

[–]Timoat 486 points487 points  (38 children)

nah, bring in chalamet, he hasnt worked for about 2 mins

[–][deleted] 105 points106 points  (12 children)

i know they just wrapped on dune but when did they finish filming for wonka

[–]Parmaandchips 156 points157 points  (1 child)

Can't you read? About 2 mins ago :p

[–]AwakeAtNights 865 points866 points  (116 children)

I love Henry Cavill, and I KNOW he could portray a great Superman, he just didn't get the chance to because of how his Superman was written, which he had no creative control over.

But at least he's gonna still keep getting work.

[–]CallM3N3w 7556 points7557 points  (288 children)

Losing Geralt and Superman in the span of a few months sucks.

[–]ImNotAhab 3362 points3363 points  (173 children)

I bet the ears on the Bond people have perked up though...

[–]PrinceOfBismarck 1810 points1811 points  (57 children)

He's already had experience as a spy character, too. Loved him in UNCLE.

[–]legosearch 565 points566 points  (23 children)

One of my favorite guy Ritchie movies. Too bad arm and hammer has kind of spoiled it

[–]kelsobjammin 46 points47 points  (11 children)

When is uncle two coming PLEASE stupid hammer had to go and try and eat people… ffs

[–]TacitusTwenty 1030 points1031 points  (34 children)

What a bizarrely run studio to re-hire and fire Cavill in a matter of weeks.

[–][deleted] 11.2k points11.3k points  (632 children)

So the end credits scene in Black Adam was worthless? Good to know

[–]Patrick2701 2664 points2665 points  (164 children)

Yes, that post credit scene leads to nothing

[–][deleted] 2628 points2629 points  (140 children)

I'm trying to think of a DC post credit scene that didn't.

[–]IFapToCalamity 1839 points1840 points  (109 children)

‘Member Luthor hiring Deathstroke?

[–]lashapel 1260 points1261 points  (36 children)

Or martian manhunter at the end of justice legue

[–]pcharger 351 points352 points  (15 children)

To be fair, Martian Manhunter was a last minute addition. The original scene was the introduction of Green Lantern.

Snyder had already shot the Affleck footage with a green light showing on him but had yet to film the Green Lantern segment of the dialogue. DC execs gave a hard, "NO." He was still hoping to put Green Lantern in with the Snyder Cut but they again said, "NO" after he filmed a scene in his own driveway with an actor standing in for Green Lantern: This was supposed to be Green Lantern

So with the Snyder Cut, he reshot the Affleck portion of the dialogue to get rid of the green light shining on him, and digitally inserted Martian Manhunter into the scene. This is why Affleck appears much less "swole" in that scene compared to others, it was a reshoot that took place 4 years after the original movie "wrapped".

Here is a link from the pre-vis footage, which clearly shows John Stewart's Green Lantern in the scene and not Martian Manhunter: Green Lantern Snyder Cut pre-vis

[–]lashapel 68 points69 points  (7 children)

Damn i never knew about this , i wonder why WB said NO both times , do they still think people don't like Green Lantern (the character) because of Green lantern (the movie) ?

[–]ssup3rm4n 90 points91 points  (1 child)

What about when Sinestro acquired the yellow ring?

[–]Redditer51 434 points435 points  (51 children)

Speaking of, 'member that solo Batman movie that was supposed to have Batfleck go up against Deathstroke that ultimately got retooled into the completey unrelated Pattinson reboot?

[–]MulciberTenebras 265 points266 points  (13 children)

Or Joker teaming up with Batman and Mera after 4 hours of Snyder's Justice League director's cut.

[–]pmjm 73 points74 points  (4 children)

The DCCU post credits scenes are as canon as the ones in Arrested Development.

[–]OliWood[🍰] 9194 points9195 points  (265 children)

The whole movie was worthless.

[–]TheUmbrellaMan1 3516 points3517 points  (86 children)

We will never find out what the Rock wanted to cook.

[–]SesPet 2234 points2235 points  (67 children)

The books according to recent posts/rumours.

[–]Brandito5 412 points413 points  (24 children)

How else would I have known that Black Adam is not a hero? He's not a hero you know, he kills people, heroes don't kill people, but he does.

[–]dbx999 276 points277 points  (15 children)

Black Adam 2: VS Morbius

[–]godblow 126 points127 points  (11 children)

They sacrificed Cavill to make Black Adam, Shazam and whatever else no longer part of the DCU lol. Full sweep, everything is out.

[–]piehead678 209 points210 points  (32 children)

I was going to get around to watching it, but now that I know the entire DCCU is dead I have no desire.

[–]Girth_Marenghi 9550 points9551 points  (80 children)

At this point I'm more of a Cavill fan than a DC fan.

[–]Ooshbala 1487 points1488 points  (9 children)

Cavill is a champ. And good on him for rolling with the punches gracefully.

[–]SolomonRed 559 points560 points  (20 children)

Being a DC fan is suffering

[–]Shneckos 1631 points1632 points  (41 children)

Henry Cavill was who I thought of when I thought of good choices for the DC movies (of which there were few). He seems like a great guy, and a strong talent, I doubt he’ll be out of a gig for very long.

[–]EinsamWulf 6590 points6591 points  (262 children)

Damn...never been a big Superman fan but always liked Cavill.

Suppose it's too much to hope we get him back as Geralt

Edit: in retrospect I think it's time we let him do what he's always wanted...a Warhammer 40K movie. That dude was born to play a damn Primarch

Edit 2: holy shit it's actually happening

[–]-GregTheGreat- 3270 points3271 points  (113 children)

Being busy with Superman was very likely just a convenient excuse to abandon Witcher. Reading between the lines it’s pretty clear he became alienated with the direction they took Geralt and the overall writing of the show.

[–]Yarlb 1056 points1057 points  (91 children)

There's an interview out there about his diet and what he had to do to his body for some of the shots. Pretty much said he's not interested in doing that to himself again.

[–]-GregTheGreat- 822 points823 points  (47 children)

If it was a simple as accommodating the fact that he prefers not to so any more overly-lean shirtless scenes, I guarantee that Netflix would oblige rather then lose him.

[–]ColdCruise 1101 points1102 points  (57 children)

Cavill is a great actor who has been let down by poor writers.

[–]Ovaltine-_Jenkins 604 points605 points  (38 children)

Except for the man from u.n.c.l.e

[–]GrilledCyan 356 points357 points  (13 children)

He’s also fantastic in Mission Impossible.

[–]Equivalent_Yak8215 128 points129 points  (9 children)

My favorite of his forsure. I just wish that one dude wasn't a cannibal so we could have gotten a sequal.

[–]RunawayHobbit 42 points43 points  (1 child)

Same. I’m really bitter that film is kinda tainted now, it was super fun and Elizabeth Debicki was phenomenal

[–]BuzzHuzzFuzz 251 points252 points  (7 children)

Really liked him as Sherlock in the new Enola Homes flick

[–]zeroxray 2484 points2485 points  (64 children)

feel bad for Cavill. he never got a decent script to work with along with the drama surrounding justice league.

[–]jeffersonPNW 1197 points1198 points  (31 children)

It is honestly such a weird pickle he is stuck in. Great actor perfect for the character, yet he is so painfully associated with a franchise mired in mediocrity and disorder. I always figured they’d eventually just make an indirect sequel to stand on its own, but I then that does get kind of messy. I guess everyone can’t get a Ryan Reynolds/Deadpool redemption story.

[–]Reverend_Lazerface 342 points343 points  (1 child)

Even weirder: This comment could apply perfectly to what happened to him with The Witcher, too

[–]pieboy89 3784 points3785 points  (321 children)

Cavill is on his way to marvel to play either hyperion or sentry

[–]Doinwerklol 1513 points1514 points  (143 children)

I could see him as a Villain, picture Mr Sinister from X-men...MANNNN Lemme tell ya summthin' :D

[–]pieboy89 818 points819 points  (112 children)

He would make a fantastic cyclops honestly

[–]youra6 281 points282 points  (8 children)

The irony is that James Marsden left X-men to be in Superman.

[–]ArmchairDuck 344 points345 points  (63 children)

It's a shame how dirty they did cyclops in the X-Men movies.

It was like the cartoons all over again with how shitty they handled the character.

[–]ComebackShane 289 points290 points  (33 children)

Writers always want Logan and Jean to be together which makes Scott end up the third wheel, so they have to portray him as a jerk so audiences don't feel bad about wanting to break them up, but then they never go through with it, making it all feel like a waste.

[–]PhantomGunslinger 105 points106 points  (19 children)

I’ve been reading the Claremont run recently and man, Scott’s like THE main character in the way, if not at the very least one of the most important ones. So it kinda makes me sad on how much they shafted him in the X-Men movies

[–]JunkPup 126 points127 points  (10 children)

Would love him as Sentry… but Sentry seems really hard to adapt to the MCU. Just my 2 cents

[–]Gr3yShadow 313 points314 points  (17 children)

Should get him to play the Capt in alternate universe

[–][deleted] 106 points107 points  (3 children)

I'm getting tired of remakes that are remakes of remakes.

[–]book1245 385 points386 points  (55 children)

I wonder if a similar Instagram post is coming soon from Gal Gadot...

[–]monkeyballs2 278 points279 points  (26 children)

They canceled wonderwoman 3 .. i don’t think she will be back. To be fair wonder woman 2 was hot garbage

[–]kamill85 78 points79 points  (4 children)

The whole DCEU was canned as-is. That includes roles of all top actors involved.

[–]Business717 1778 points1779 points  (17 children)

This upsets me greatly.

[–][deleted] 4282 points4283 points  (108 children)

Dread from it.

Run from it.

Tom Holland Superman arrives all the same.

[–]Brown_Panther- 1071 points1072 points  (16 children)

Hey guys, I’m uh Superman!

[–]Illustrious_Bed_5702 638 points639 points  (13 children)

Aw jeeze Lex, can you put away the Kryptonite?

[–]babybopp 193 points194 points  (8 children)

[–]loserys 498 points499 points  (3 children)

Its like Charlie Brown thinking he’s finally going to get to kick the football

[–]deadpanxfitter 1612 points1613 points  (103 children)

What a cluster fuck of a cinematic universe.

[–]Expensive-Argument-7 415 points416 points  (16 children)

Yeah even trying to watch the movies in any semblance of an order is fruitless. They rushed the team up film and have been working backwards ever since

[–]Supafly22 470 points471 points  (6 children)

Well I hate this

[–]herewego199209 1811 points1812 points  (134 children)

Whether DC is hot right now or not this role now becomes one of the most coveted roles in recent memory. Every actor between 20 and 35 is probably going to screentest for it.

[–]SubMikeD 687 points688 points  (19 children)

Every actor between 20 and 35 is probably going to screentest for it.

And, of course, presumably Nick Cage.

I want to throw it out into the void one more time: Nicholas Cage should be in a Suicide Squad movie. Doesn't even matter who he plays or how long he's in it. Just let him go absolutely wild. A delusional Kiteman would be phenomenal.

Probably a nice paycheck, but holy shit is this role going to come with some serious baggage.

Intense workouts, and around 7 months of filming for multiple films and long promo tours

That’s not even mentioning the extremely divisive fan base that is sure to get toxic in some fashion.

Man this is really sad news, Cavill fit Superman so well. Hope he does come back in the universe in some iteration, although it will be hard to see him as anything but Supes (same for Momoa.)

[–]Snuggle__Monster 1197 points1198 points  (31 children)

This really sucks. Cavill was a damn good Superman.

[–]FridayCicero702 672 points673 points  (25 children)

Is Nicholas Cage still available?

So the dude who was the perfect witcher and Superman, is now free to be in house of the dragon.

It feels wrong that Cavill was never given another chance playing as Superman. Man of Steel was fine, but it lacked the warmth and humanity we expect of the character. A sequel would have allowed him to fit into the role and give us a proper Superman film after he had become an established hero. The decision to kill his character in BvS was the biggest mistake the DCEU made because it severely undermined his character arc, forcing us to wait for another film for him to be resurrected.

Cavill has so much promise as Superman, but the movies didn't really do it justice. Too much destruction and not enough heart. Was hoping that maybe he'd either get another chance in another movie or at least a reboot without recasting him.

At least he got more than Routh I guess.

[–][deleted] 189 points190 points  (1 child)

I don't agree with this decision.

They’ll get Thimothe Chalamet to bulk up for a young Superman won’t they.

[–]Brown_Panther- 392 points393 points  (42 children)

He did an interview few months back and said that Dicaprio told him to stay away from superhero movies.

[–]NBNebuchadnezzar 96 points97 points  (7 children)

I thought Chalamet sold his soul to the devil in return for the power to pick the right roles. Turns out hes just been getting advice from DiCaprio.

[–][deleted] 304 points305 points  (23 children)

I doubt he could bulk up much. What is he now, like 67lbs?

[–]exodus3252 328 points329 points  (5 children)

Dude isn't even ripped enough to play Lois.

[–][deleted] 245 points246 points  (11 children)

I doubt we'll see Cavill play another role in Gunn's universe. That announcement feels almost like a consolation prize to make things easier to process. Kind of like when Batgirl got cancelled and the press release said that the studio absolutely still wanted to work with the filmmakers and the star again.

Really disappointed to be honest. Cavill has never gotten his fair shake and without him I'm not interested in another Superman. I hope Cavill finds a great role with a studio that treats him with respect.

Good luck to James Gunn. But I'm finally tapping out of DC movies.

Throw Cavill’s name in the ring for Bond

[–]sgthombre 128 points129 points  (11 children)

He was in the running for Casino Royale but he was just too young at the time.
