    Anytime I hear cutting costs and CGI in relation to this film, I think of NC superman fighting a giant spider. How much money did they spend on that and how much did it add to the story.

    They really should have just used old footage from the movies and tv shows. Then explained that this footage is animated because it takes place in Batman Animated series universe (kind of like how they showed the one flash in a black and white universe in the film).

    Agree. There was so much “wtf is this” moments where i was left wondering how an actual big budget director looked at this and was like “yup, looks great. Lets roll with it”. And so many people that saw this same shit were like “yeah, one of the greatest hero movies made to date”. Their credibility is shot to hell. And i have more dread than hype about this guy being in charge of getting Brave and the Bold done right.

    Either way it compromises their credibility. Now when these same heads talk about “Superman Legacy is the best DC movie since The Dark Knight” everyone is just gonna roll their eyes and expect it to look like PS3 cutscenes with fart jokes lol. I want to give these guys a chance but theyre making it real hard with what theyre putting out and how theyre talking about it.

    Oh I agree. But also I've never trusted the words of celebrities on things like this. They're always going to be biased in some form. Word of mouth by regular people is much more influential.

    100%. Theyre gonna have to come with some really legit, great looking and hard hitting movie without the same old cookie cutter and tired messaging and just makes comic movies that bring the comics to life minus the “interpretations”. Thats the only way theyre gonna win anyone over.

      In all fairness, I’m not sure the best way to do a live action Modok and it not be laughable. Not an excuse but pretty hard to translate a giant head with itty bitty arms and legs to screen.

          Tbf there would be no way to make all that stuff look realistic unless the movie had unlimited budget and/or 10 years of VFX work. There was wayyyyyy too much to animate inside the speed force.

          It just looks like a PS3 cutscene, when you actually watch it.

          I get wanting it to be "abstract", but then actually make it, yknow, abstract, instead of just shitty CGI. There are literally endless ways this could have been done in a cool and much easier way, but the director apparently chose not to.

          So either Andy just had this done badly by accident, or it's just a shitty creative choice. Because in the actual movie, it's jarring.

                  They're trying to play it off as "artistic choice" because hE's mOvInG tHrOuGh TiMe but in reality I think they just were trying to save money where they could. I think they believed they could sell it, but let's be real, it just looks like shit.

                  If they wanted it to look distorted in some way to highlight he's moving through time (I don't know why that's necessary, it was pretty fucking clear when he is moving through time lol), there are ways of doing that and accomplishing that, that still LOOK GOOD. This looks like PS3 graphics.

                  I think any excuse anyone involved with that movie gives is just that, an excuse. It looks fucking terrible lol.

                      See I thought the flash movie was fun. But the lack of thought through these character cameos was beyond me. Like I understand they can’t bring

                      Matt reeves or a young Nicholas Cage in to reprise it (obviously he’s dead and Nic is way older) But, wouldn’t you think they’d at least try a little harder to make it look semi real? They delayed the movie over a year for “the strain on the visual effects industry” you’d think they work tirelessly to correct the mistakes of the original justice league movie. Like they didn’t learn from the outrage from the CGI upper lip of Supes that drove the world insane (fan or not that was bad for everyone)

                      Side note:

                      Also the lack of vision for the overall universe drives me up the wall as a hardcore DC fan. I really felt like Synder had something going (it had it mistakes but at least it made sense) but now they seem to just release movies for the sake of releasing them. I’m personally sad they’re rebooting as I enjoyed Bat fleck and Henry Cavil’s Superman but I hope James Gunn has more of layout for the storylines and the new DCU. Only one can pray 🙏 Let me know what you think

                      This is how you can tell WB hates Cavill. They make Reeves and Cage, actors that have no recent footage as Superman anywhere near HD, look somewhat passable in motion. But Cavill looks like a Gumby-ified version of himself.

                      How hard would it have been to take old footage of Cavill turning around to look at something and insert the rip in the multiverse, like how they had George Reeves Superman do looking at the Teddy Sears Flash.

                      I genuinely like the idea for the Chronosphere. Having this almost dream like appearance worked for me. Having it repeat and wrap around the Chronosphere was cool, I loved the design of this like coliseum of history as the speedsters runs In the center like an omnidirectional treadmill. What I don't get is the hate. Like it was very clearly intentional as when Dark Flash shows up and knocks Barry out he isn't the same quality of cg he is intended to look real. The Chronosphere projections are clearly not. But to each their own. I think it's just getting way more hate than it should. I want creative choices like this. This one didn't work out perfectly but I definitely don't want to discourage future directors from getting creative with visualising some of the crazier stuff DC has to offer.
