I think the general consensus is that Top 3 are Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, and Goodfellas. There's different arguments about what makes one better than the other. Having seen all three and a majority of his other movies (not all of them, the man is a prolific mf), I have Goodfellas as my pick. It is endlessly rewatchable, has iconic performances from every actor, a near flawless screenplay, great soundtrack, and some of the best editing put to film. Raging Bull is a fantastic character study and Taxi Driver is incredibly unnerving but neither one quite reaches the heights of Goodfellas for me.
But what do you think? Maybe you have a different top 3.

I'm not talking traditional sequels, although by extension they do have to be sequels. I'm after films that ended on a cliffhanger and it was obvious that they were filming a sequel, or in the case of my example below, had already filmed them back to back.
I feel like this happens all the time now with Marvel films and films such as the new Mission Impossible
I'd like to disregard little teases that didn't really go anywhere like the embryos in Jurassic Park being buried in mud, with the tease that they'll be found later.
Although not really a part 2 as it was the third in a trilogy, the earliest film I can think of is Back to The Future part 3.

I need a movie that’s sound track as well as the plot line really gets me thinking about life. A perfect example of this is interstellar which gave me goosebumps as well as a feeling inside that had me feeling almost empty inside as the film ended.

Going to chill out tonight, drink, eat, and relax on the couch. Hoping to reach that perfect buzz while watching an amazing movie that touches me. A movie that makes you think, and remember it, while also having great music. Been thinking of Tree of Life but can’t fully decide. Idc what genre it is as long as it has some sort of meaning to it, something that makes the viewer feel something internally.
For example of movies I love that would fit this night if I hadn’t already seen them.

hello! my boyfriend loves criterion films & collects them. we are in a long distance relationship, and he's going through an incredibly hard time right now. i want to buy him a film and ship it to his address to cheer him up. is there any way i can send a film as a gift/with a note? I don't want him to be confused when a random movie shows up in the mail!
any help would be appreciated. thank you :)

Found Footage is all about immersion, the thing that really ruins it for me is a focusing too long on bad visual effects. Some horror I can forgive it, but when something in a found footage is so obviously CGI (Paranormal Activity 4 for example) it ruins the fun of the ‘this is really happening’ aspect.
What about you?

I’ve recently hurt people I really care about by lying to them. I’ve apologized but obviously it’s not enough and I’ve lost those relationships. It’s been hard and I hate myself for it. I want to do better. Is there any movie where the main character goes through something like this. It doesn’t need to end with having everyone love them. Just any movie where the main character learns to accept his mistakes while also becoming a better person

Spielberg noticed the "Jaws" mechanical shark wasn’t very scary.
What did he do?
He edited the film to feature less of it - allowing the audience to imagine what it would look like and thus having the audience scare themselves.
Somewhat similarly, Brando turned up onset to "Apocalypse Now" far more obese than Coppola expected.
What did Coppola do?
He cropped Brando in noir shadows, creating a far more disturbing image of Col. Kurtz than he intended.
Ledger died halfway through “The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus”.
So Gilliam gave his character the ability to morph, so that other actors could come onset and play that same character.
The final scene of "Taxi Driver" was so violent it was going to be rated X.
So Scorsese and his team desaturated the colors, so that red became brown. It was, in turn, rated R instead.

My husband hates horror and so do most all of my friends. My film friends are very snobby about the genre - even when I try to explain the greatness of A24. After I watched The Haunting of Hill House series, I had no one to discuss it with. Game of Thrones? No problem. Horror - nope. So what do I end up doing? I watch reaction videos on YouTube to see if they jump at the same time as me or get that perplexed look I expect. How sad is that! I’m so happy to find a community here to chat about horror!
