Hello!

Do you happen to have any resources or tips or advice for transfeminine voice training that you can share online?

Ive been meaning to start that, especially since for the next few years i still wont be able to take a significant amount of hrt, if at all. But frankly i havent done more than just sing indie girl ukulele songs.

Free Trans Resources public spreadsheet

Please reblog!

As promised in the comments of the binder master list, I’m now compiling a more all-encompassing free resource public spreadsheet! So far I’ve got resources for binders, packers, STP devices, gaffs/tucking underwear, gender-affirming clothing, some DIY gender-affirming gear, and some resources on how to clean that gear and how to clean up makeup spills. I’ll try to keep expanding things, and feel free to request a type of resource or a specific location in the comments or in an ask! (I can’t promise I’ll be able to find anything, but I’ll do my best! <3)

The spreadsheet is called “Study sheet” to make it more inconspicuous in case someone you’d rather didn’t catches a glimpse of the title. Do please note that once you’re on the spreadsheet it is very obvious what the content is, so only view it when it’s safe for you to do so! <3

Before you click on the link to the spreadsheet:

Some links to videos on how to conceal and delete your history for those who need it (blue text indicates a link)

Remember to delete your Youtube history after watching!

*Edit* I’ve added a new section for miscellaneous resource requests to serve as a semi-temporary place for more niche topics that I get resource requests for. If I get more requests for them or find more resources related to the topic I’ll make a new separate section for them, but otherwise they can just stay there.

Remember: y'all can comment, tag, or if you want/need it to be more discreet you can send me an anonymous ask. I may not be able to find what you want, but I won’t judge you <3

What Trans Masculine means to me…

This is discussing specifically how the term “trans masc” relates to my experience alone. Others may use this term for very different reasons and I celebrate that <3

My mental voice has always felt masculine to me. Growing up, I’d prepare jokes in my head, excited to share and relate with my dad and brother, but it never came out or was received the same. When I was among groups of cishet women, my opinion never felt like it came from the same place as theirs. And I still feel that way today.

But when I tried to do all of the things I’ve seen binary trans men do, I felt foreign to myself. Masculine makeup makes me feel off-center. I don’t want a packer. I don’t want to be jacked or grow a beard. I don’t want to be a masculine man because that is not me.

It sent me into a gender crisis to think… How can I feel that I’m masculine but not want to BE a manly man? This is what Trans men should want. This is what Trans men should do, right? The goal is to be cis and hetero normative… Right?

Wrong!

That is not my goal! That is not me! Look around at all of the beautiful, wonderful, feminine men in the world! I DON’T have to be the daughter my mother always wanted! I DON’T have to be the macho man I pressured myself to be! I can be the soft, androgynous or even feminine presenting, person with a masculine core that I always have been. My identity is complex, but not convoluted and I CAN be me!

I am trans masc, and that does not stop me from having feminine aspects. My center is masculine, even if my outside doesn’t seem like it. I’m a nonbinary trans masculine person. I use they/them pronouns, and one day I might transition. I want top surgery. I might want hrt. I want to wear makeup and I speak in a feminine way. So I guess as my friends say, I’m the gay boy of your dreams XD

This is what “trans masc” means for me.

Taking T didn’t ruin my singing voice, and frankly I’m sick of folks panicking and ignoring the fact that cis boys go through two or three years where their voices are fluctuating and cracking and changing before they settle.

Your voice isn’t ruined, it’s changing.

If you want to make that transition easier, you gotta keep using it. Sing! Even if your voice cracks in goofy ways. Even if you have trouble placing your voice comfortably. It gets easier, I promise. Get a voice teacher (if you can) who has experience with vocal changes for pubescent cis boys if it’s really making you anxious or if you’re having a hard time controlling it.

To be clear, I’m not trying to be dismissive of people’s emotions, nor am I trying to tell you about your own experience. If you feel something intensely, that’s fair and valid. Respectfully, you should unpack that with a therapist or supportive peers.

However, when one of the main TERF tactics against transmascs is convincing trans guys that T makes you Worse in a Variety of Ways, and that you’ll be ruining your body if you take it, I am EXTREMELY dubious of how many people online report any part of their body being ruined by T. Sounds suspiciously like TERF shit. And, yes, even Actual Trans People can play into TERF talking points. I’m begging y'all to stop the rampant fearmongering surrounding T.

So, after nearly a year being on T, I’m here to say that YES my voice cracks and YES my voice fluctuates and YES sometimes it feels like I have to relearn everything I knew about being a vocalist, but goddamn if I won’t have fun figuring it all out, because I know this is just one stage of the transition I’m going through, and it’s worth it.

i usually pack with a mr. limpy (and god do i wish it had a different name) which to my knowledge is still one of the most widely available & cheapest good packers on the market, but i also frequently use a nonhuman-looking silicone packer i got from a fantasy adult toy company. to keep my them in place i usually wear packing underwear i got online at transguysupply or wear harness underwear under boxer briefs.

packer info: packers can be made of several kinds of materials. most will require powdering (usually with some kind of starch) after cleaning to make sure they aren't sticky. silicone doesn't have this problem, but tends to be much stiffer than other materials and is more difficult to pack discreetly, though as long as it's ~5in or smaller it's not usually a big deal. if you're using a normal packer, things seem more natural if you shift the shaft to point towards one leg. if you're packing with a STP (stand-to-pee device) it's best to pack "up" towards your stomach instead.

packing info: packing underwear tends to be expensive if it's something you want to use daily. getting or creating a packing pouch (see: new york toy company & DIY tutorials online) you can pin in any underwear is much less expensive and has a similar effect.

it never occurred to me that there are Nonhuman packers and now i realized i definitely do want to get one LOL thank you so much, we really appreciate you taking the time to answer! the information is super helpful, and also we are glad to hear you found something that works for you! you are rad, take care

Hello everyone! I don't have a Tumblr but I came up with something helpful. If you're trans masc, loose raglan shirts are your friend! Particularly ones with logos. If you can't bind, they hide your chest while making your shoulders appear broader. Also, I found the answer to my own question regarding masculine long hair. Gel, gel, gel. Slick it back, poof it, and it looks so much more manly. As Eve says, peace and love! And thank all of you so much.

some info on topical Testosterone (T Gel)

we’ve gotten quite a few asks on what topical testosterone is like and if it’s inferior to injectable T, so i wanted to write up a quick post on it, since i’ve gotten a lot of asks from people who think it doesn’t work/doesn’t work as well as injectable testosterone. i have been on topical T since 2019, and have also worked inside of a pharmacy, so I just wanted to provide some insight for curious folks:

  • it is the same hormone, just in a different method of administration- it isn’t weaker or stronger than injectable. some people just respond better to certain routes of administration- topical medications are very bioavailable, as most people’s skin is one of the most receptive places on their bodies to medication, next to direct injections. it’s a very effective route of administration
  • your needs will depend on your body and your dose. communicate frequently with your doctor and ask for tests if you are feeling unsatisfied with how testosterone is affecting you, or if you feel like your dose is too low. if topical ends up not working for you, it is okay to switch if need be. some people also switch from injectable after a few years to prevent skin and muscle tissue damage from years and years of injecting.
  • if your dose is correct, topical T can still stop your periods, and give you the other desired effects of T. some see results from topical faster, some struggle to see results, it really depends on the individual. for many, there are very strong peaks and valleys (ups and downs) in their hormone levels after injections due to the body metabolizing injectable T so quickly- this can cause sudden fluctuations in energy levels, making one feel like they are/causing one to have mental health episodes, and so on. topical T is introduced into your system more gently and can help one avoid these issues, if the dose is correct. this can be avoided with injectable as well, it’s just less commonly seen in topical.
  • in many states in the US, for some reason, injectable testosterone is often automatically covered by insurance for trans HRT, but not topical. if you run into issues at your pharmacy, if they tell you there are “insurance problems”, talk to your prescriber about them sending over a prior authorization. these are usually required for topical T, for whatever reason. this is basically a note from your doctor stating why you need it. this should fix the issue if you are struggling to get it covered by insurance.
  • the strength will depend on your dose, which can be very painlessly adjusted- if you receive a bottle of gel, it will inform of you of how many pumps to take. if you receive small individually dosed packages of gel, you will take so many of those per day or week. when taking injectable testosterone you have to measure your doses yourself which can be difficult for people with hand tremors, low vision, etc.
  • do not take catch-all advice for administering your topical T once you have it- follow the directions exactly as they are listed on your bottle and in the informational paper/booklet included with the medication. different formulations and types of topical testosterone will need to be applied on certain areas of the body.
  • make sure you clean the skin before application with soap and warm water, or other products like bacteria killing wipes, alcohol wipes, etc.
  • the gel is alcohol based. it has a pretty strong rubbing alcohol smell, and can burn the inside of your nose/eyes or potentially overstim, so just try to keep it away from your face if you struggle with issues like that. it absorbs very quickly and doesn’t rub off on anything or leave a greasy mess.
  • cover the skin you applied it to (upper arms/shoulders or abdomen, depending) with a shirt immediately and keep that shirt on for at least 2 hours. you do not want to risk someone else touching the sites you applied it to and getting testosterone on their skin, which can affect their hormone levels, and can also make it so you do not absorb all of the medication
  • do not shower, swim or spend extended periods of time shirtless for at least 2 hours after applying topical testosterone, to ensure you absorb all of the medication.

i will add more info to this as i think of it. i will also be including a scanned version of the informational paper that came with my topical testosterone, and other information for further reading. take care and remember, all forms of T are worth considering and are good. testosterone HRT is rad.

Gc2b Binders No Longer Reputable

I’ve been away, so y'all may already be very aware of this, but I want to make sure it’s stated on this blog because it’s been The Brand for yeeeaaars: the quality of gc2b binders has been going downhill the past few years. People who bought from them prior and recently can attest to how poor the quality has become. The binders are just not the same. The material isn’t comfortable and, more importantly, the fit just isn’t good. People who’ve tried recent gc2b binders, even those who’ve been binding for years, are suffering from back and muscle pain, stiff shoulders, soreness, etc. regardless of fit. The material just doesn’t seem to be suitable for binding anymore. It is also degrading really quickly and binders are wearing out in a matter of months. It is no longer worth it to buy from gc2b.

If you want some sources on this, check out the reviews here on trustpilot with people talking about this.

You’ll want to keep your eye on brands that are still doing good work: Spectrum Outfitters (UK), For Them (seems to be a hate it or love it company; I know some who swear by them and others who feel they dont’ really sell actual binders - just sports bras/lighter compression tops), Shapeshifters (good custom work and larger sizing), and Underworks (best budget brand).

For people in or near Germany I can recommend Undrowear! they also sell other underwear (including tucking panties). Their sizes go up to 5XL

I don’t know how well they fit bigger sizes (I’m a large) but for me the fit is great and I’ve had almost no discomfort wearing my binder, whereas with my old gc2b binder I had frequent aches in my ribs and back

i am once again hyping amor binders. they’re on the pricey side, but the quality is BONKERS good, and if you’re in the larger end (i was a 36H before top surgery) they have a line specifically designed for larger chests, which offers elastic around the bottom to keep everything from slipping out (i always slipped out of my gc2bs even when they were good) and FULL RANGE OF MOTION IN THE SHOULDERS with a racerback that’s still wide enough to be supportive.

they’re australia-based so if you’re stateside like me it takes a bit of time and money to ship but GENUINELY they’re worth it

Thanks so much for these additions!!!

EDIT: Trans-Missie in the Netherlands was also suggested in the comments.

The reason vaginal atrophy in HRT is rarely discussed isn’t because some nefarious boogeyman wants to transgenderficate all your pretty lesbian crushes into chronic pelvic pain it’s because people don’t give a shit about transmasculine reproductive health and you hijacking the topic for your detransition propaganda will only make things worse as you discourage transmascs from researching the subject and learning that it’s treatable

“You’ll live with chronic pain for the rest of your life is it worth it” casual ableism aside you’re saying that as if vaginal atrophy doesn’t happen to half of all postmenopausal people, what makes you think you’re immune

Because I am on a mission to make sure everyone knows this and every time vaginal atrophy comes up, I will bring it up:

Vaginal atrophy is easily preventable and treatable. if YOU are on T and you’re experiencing it, PLEASE let your gyno/HRT doc know. They can prescribe topical estrogen which will treat the issue without interfering with your HRT!

I’ve looked into it a LITTLE and over the counter phyto-estrogen creams seem to have an effect but IDK if I’d 100% trust them.

Sorry, this is just super fucking important to me and literally everyone on T needs to know about it because when I was doing the research NO ONE brought up how easily it was treated until I looked into vaginal atrophy itself and found out because of how it’s treated in menopausal women.

When I talked to the doctor at planned parenthood she echoed this, too. That if vaginal atrophy starts to develop, I should just let her know so she can prescribe me topical estrogen to help!

the fact that we aren’t fucking told this is PART of the problem. The fact that we’re told it’s inevitable and untreatable is part of the problem. You don’t *have* to deal with that pain and discomfort.

!!!

Topical estrogen won’t affect your T levels either, from what I know. It will just affect the vagina, so you don’t have to worry that your transition will be impacted if you do get vaginal atrophy treated. If you are worried about topical estrogen affecting your transition talk to your doctor! There’s no reason trans people should suffer out of fear and misinformation.

This is true! Be aware that whether you can get effective treatments over the counter will depend on the exact pharmacy laws in your area – for example, in NZ it’s a prescription-only medicine (but prescriptions are subsidised so this isn’t too bad).

This matters because there’s a bunch of products out there that claim to treat vaginal atrophy, including lube and “vaginal moisturisers”, which don’t have the estrogen in them that makes it work properly. You’ll probably get some relief from the moisturising but it won’t be reversing the atrophy. These products are available over the counter and one is directly shilled by Buck Angel lmfao so it can be tempting to go for them rather than going through the hassle of getting a script, but please, if you can, get the prescription stuff that works the best ^_^

Transmascs dont have to pass or want to pass as cis men in order to be taken seriously in their identities, whether they’re binary or nonbinary.

Feminine transmascs are not trenders. Gender nonconforming transmascs are not trenders. Nonbinary transmascs are not trenders. Genderfluid transmascs are not trenders. Transmasc lesbians are not trenders. Nondysphoric transmascs are not trenders. Nonpassing transmascs are not trenders.

All transmascs are valid, period.

Hi! This might be a little odd, but even tho i know that trans men are men and trans women are women bc that’s who they are, i cant help but feel a little bitter about those guys ‘leaving’ womanhood because i know it sucks and i don’t understand how anyone would want to be seen as a woman in any circumstance. Sorry if this is not the right place to ask, but i was wondering if u could give advice on how to dismantle those prejudices which i know arent true already but keep coming back to me

First, I (mod Zay) would like to say I did not leave womanhood. I was forced to present and act feminine but that doesn’t make me a woman. I was called a woman but that doesn’t make me one.

I never identified as a woman so I couldn’t have “left” but even if I did, gender isn’t set in stone. It can change and gender has different meanings between people.

I would recommend research. These are some examples to start with.

If you have a question, there are a ton of resources on the internet. Straight for Equality is an organization created by PFLAG for allies they have a huge list of resources and they have a section for trans allies. Out and Equal is an organization for workplace equality with resources and guides. You can also look at international or local organizations. They may have more resources. Try your library, too. There are books that could be helpful.

If you have a transphobic thought, try to challenge it.

Follow trans and nonbinary people on social media. You could follow anyone, they don’t have to be famous.

For all my folks who don’t know: there’s a free beard app!

Guys! GUYS. I cannot tell you how stoked I am to bring this up here! Like many of you, I LOVED the brief few days that Snapchat had a realistic beard filter – it was gender affirming, it was flattering, it felt awesome. So I did a little searching, and found a passable alternative: an app from Philips called Grooming: Shaving and Styling. It’s free, it’s easy as hell to use, and you can preview a whole bunch of different styles of mustaches and beards on a photo of your face. It’ll even let you pick your beard color. Dying to see yourself with facial hair? This thing is amazing.

Share and show off your own MANLY-ASS FACE. <3
