Alba Party

Just had their leafelt through my letterbox for the local elections and their policies are all cuckoo, pie in the sky stuff.

They want to freeze Council tax, offer an annual £500 payment to households, double EMA payments, and offer free school meals (both breakfast and lunch) to every child whilst raising the Scottish child payment.

Not a single piece of information on the leaflet as to how this will be funded. Every council in Scotland is running a deficit due to lack of funds already, my own is looking to balance a £34m deficit for the next financial year despite cutting services across the board and reducing staff numbers. That deficit will likely increase once the Unions have negotiated an above 2% pay rise with COSLA due to inflation etc (council has budgeted for 2% going by previous years).

So unless these eejits are advocating for even more redundancies across the board at the council, with fewer school janitors, cleaners, etc.. and slashing more services so that even fewer potholes will be fixed, school buildings not being in a satisfactory state of repair, libraries closing etc.. then I honestly don't know how they think they will pay for all of this fantasy policies. Absolute joke of a party, which is no surprise given the gluttoness creep who is the figurehead for them.

Scotland’s rejection of Salmond illustrates nationalist shift. Analysis: many younger independence activists see Alba party leader as a historical figure.
