What's up with people on twitter getting nostalgic about the economy during the global recession of the late 2000s? What's up with people on twitter getting nostalgic about the economy during the global recession of the late 2000s?

In recent weeks I have seen several tweets go viral lament how during the period of the global recession things were better than today. And it usually is to do with fast food prices. Here's one from today which has almost 60k likes. https://twitter.com/DieAbelDie/status/1767547011170238690

I was an adult not long after graduating during that period. I remember seeing my dad lose his job that he'd had since before I was born and how he struggled to find new work despite his decades of experience. I remember how bad his confidence got. I saw that as a familiar event both with people we knew growing up but also on the news. I remember stories of people turning up to their factory work one morning only to be see the gates locked up for good. The unemployment rate was rocketing, there was a housing market bubble that was an immediate disaster then, people's savings were wiped out overnight because if the banks failure. The job market for new graduates was terrible. You'd come out with a good degree and not get interviews for entry level jobs. How are people unironically now seeing this as a better time?
