What’s your BritBox wish list?

There are some programs not streaming elsewhere in the US. I’d be thrilled if they popped up on BritBox. (Feel free to correct me if they are, in fact, streaming somewhere else.)

Fortunes of War - 1987, I think, World War II miniseries starring Kenneth Branagh and Emma Thompson.

Jeeves and Wooster - Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie.

Outside Edge - one of my favorite comedies, framed around a weekend cricket team on which Robert Daws and Timothy Spall play. Brenda Blethyn and Josie Lawrence play their wives.

The Goodies - I imagine it won’t hold up well, but I haven’t seen it since I was a kid, and I loved Tim Brooke-Taylor.

The Hornblower series which aired on A&E back in the day (late 90s.). They already have a bunch of the A&E set.

The Scarlet Pimpernel - also an A&E alum with Richard E. Grant in the title role.

The BBC Dennis Potter miniseries Pennies from Heaven (Bob Hoskins) and The Singing Detective (Michael Gambon.) Nothing wrong with the American film versions, but those late 70s tv works were so different.

Is a BritBox subscription worthwhile?

Hello viewers of BritBox!

I'm thinking of getting a subscription for the streaming service but I am looking to get some opinions before I make my decision. Looking to start 2024 with some fun British shows that I cannot access abroad that easily and I'm not in a position to use the TV license to watch on-demand services.

So, what can I get with a BritBox subscription? How does it compare to other streaming services?

Happy New Year everyone!

BritBox or Acorn?

So Midsomer Murders is quite literally the most beautiful show and earth and needs a subreddit to admire its ridiculous amazingness. So yes, Midsomer Murders. Excellent.

BritBox or Acorn?

I'm up to... idk what season is it, but on Amazon Prime the last episode I can see is the one where Tom Barnaby leaves. It's his birthday (?), and he's cranky, and then towards the end of the episode we get the backstory of his dad and how Tom blew him off for a lie-in, and his dad died.

Anyway. I desperately want to see the rest of the series. I'm in New Zealand, if it matters, is Acorn or BritBox better? Does one of them allow you to download the video so you can watch it on the go? Thank you!

when will BritBox add new Shetland episodes?

so i started watching Shetland season 8 on my Amazon Britbox channel. So far only 3 episodes have been released on BritBox, but i noticed that the last episode of Shetland premiered at the end of November. I know ive read a few people saying amazon sometimes takes longer to add new stuff, but I was just looking directly at the britbox website and they only have 3 episodes on there as well. do they just add one new episode per week, or will they add the remaining episodes all at once? and any idea as to the release schedule?

I’m crushed — BritBox on Prime has taken off full seasons of Poirot!

My mom and I are heartbroken! We started watching Poirot from season 1 and have watched an episode nearly every night. We were up to season 11, episode 3 and now all of those episodes have been taken down by BritBox/Amazon Prime. It says it’s unavailable in our location (USA). We’re so upset! Anyone know anywhere else we can watch seasons 11 & 12? Prime has the last season.

Thanks!!

American with a BritBox subscription, what gems should I search for?

Hello! I'm currently looking for some new series to watch, and I was wondering if you all had any advice as to what I should definitely watch. I'm mostly a fan of comedies and have already been through Porridge, Open All Hours, Keeping Up Appearances, Are You Being Served?, and got a start on Dad's Army and Only Fools And Horses.

I'll openly admit, and this may be sacrilege, but I'm really finding it difficult to get interested in Only Fools And Horses. I think there may be some cultural context that I'm missing.

I'm also a fan of really acerbic wit, so I like what I've seen of One Foot In The Grave. Any recommendations would be wonderful!
