Sometimes my wife and I feel crazy because of it. Obviously, COVID destroys people's sense of smell but I think this may be becoming very widespread.
We tried to stay in an Airbnb one time, and as soon as we walked in, we smelled a horrible natural gas smell. It was a basement apartment. We left and told the host. She called the gas company and they said there was no gas leak, and she didn't smell anything nor did the tech. I later found out that dead animals can cause a similar smell, so there were probably dead mice in her basement. Gross!
Today we had a weird situation where we had contractors install insulation in our basement, and now we're getting a horrible gasoline smell upstairs. The contractors said they smelled it, but we had the fire department come and check it out, and they didn't even smell it.
I also feel like fragrances in products are getting stronger and it's awful!
It's terrifying to think that people won't even be able to smell a gas leak post-COVID.
