Each and every subreddit has a target community, and r/3DS targets the Nintendo 3DS™ community and nothing else. If you want to discuss general Nintendo stuff, go to r/Nintendo or one of the other Nintendo-related subreddits, which are also listed in the sidebar.
Keep things civil and on-topic. Threads should be directly related to the 3DS and its accessories. All posts should be civil and follow Reddiquette.

Yes/No question, in FAQ or easily googled
NO BASIC QUESTIONS
No basic questions or those covered in the wiki. Questions which can be quickly answered via a Google search or those which have been addressed in the wiki must be directed to the Weekly Question Thread. This includes game recommendations and tech support topics.
3
Asking for general recommendations
NO ASKING FOR NON-SPECIFIC GAME RECOMMENDATIONS
The wiki will cover general recommendations for most things. We do allow specific game recommendation requests. If a question has more than 25 valid answers, it's probably not specific enough. Game comparison posts (such as 'Game A or Game B?') are allowed as long as they are phrased to generate discussion about the pros and cons of each game, and not as a 'which should I buy'.
4
Spoilers
NO SPOILERS
Should go more or less without saying - don't spoil stuff. You should be either not mentioning it, or using clearly marked spoiler tags, like so:
[spoiler](/s "This is a spoiler.")
5
Links to flashcarts/roms/piracy
DO NOT POST LINKS FOR ANYTHING RELATED TO PIRATED SOFTWARE/GAMES/FIRMWARE
We do, however, allow Homebrew, flash cart, and NFC spoofing discussions (notice how I said "links" in the title)? We are a discussion based subreddit, and linking to illegal things is messy business. Please remember that 'homebrew' does not equate to 'piracy', and keep things civil when discussing these topics.
6
Repost
NO REPOSTS
This should go without saying, but check the front page and use the search feature to see if something has already been posted before submitting.
7
Friend Code request
DO NOT POST FRIEND CODE REQUESTS
Friend codes should be included in your flair, not made into posts. If you have specific Friend Code requests, use r/3DSFCswap instead.
8
Trading/Selling/Begging/Buying
NO TRADING/SELLING
There are subreddits created specifically for trading: r/gameswap and r/gamesale, which exist specifically for this sort of thing. This also applies to linking to ebay auctions. Exceptions may apply if the item being sold is sufficiently interesting/unique (such as a customized 3DS for charity). If you feel this applies, contact the mods via modmail. No trading, selling, buying, or begging. This includes links to third party selling sites.
9
Self-Promotion
No excessive self-promotion; No affiliate links. Self-promotion must be within 10% of all threads and comments reddit-wide, read Reddit's Self-Promotion guidelines for more information. No affiliate links of any kind, ever.
10
Piracy
No piracy, including linking piracy resources, naming piracy resources or tools, promotion of or admission of piracy, requesting support for pirated content, etc. Piracy, for clearer definition, is the production and/or distribution of new copies of a copyrighted work without the authorization of the copyright owner regardless of price, including demos/updates. Out of print does not mean copyright is expired. Piracy is toxic to communities and legal reform efforts.
