The Mosques Are Our Barracks

Many years ago Recep Tayyip Erdogan famously quoted a poem by the 20th-century Turkish nationalist writer Ziya Gökalp:

The mosques are our barracks,
the domes our helmets,
the minarets our bayonets,
and the believers our soldiers.

One of those barracks was raided today by security police in the Swedish town of Tyresö, and four people were arrested for planning a terrorist attack. Many thanks to Gary Fouse for translating this article from Dagens Nyheter. The translator notes that the targeted building seems to be some sort of informal mosque:

Four suspected of preparing for a terrorist crime — Connected to ISIS

March 7, 2024

Four persons suspected of preparing for a terrorist crime and aggravated weapons possession were arrested Thursday in Tyresö. According to the Security Police (Säpo), the suspected crimes are connected to the ISIS terror organization.

“We had to act to disrupt the planned crime and avert a possible threat,” says Fredrik Hultgren-Friberg, Säpo press spokesman, to DN.

The case involves violent Islamist extremism where the Security Police also see connections to large-scale organized crime, the authorities write in a press release.

The raid on Thursday was carried out at, among other places, a building that residents in the area describe as a mosque and gathering place.

“I saw police lying on a hill here behind us and they moved. Two of the operational forces then came and moved me out of the way. They went ahead with a sledgehammer and began to break the windows. When they had broken openings in the windows, they threw in stun grenades,” says an eye witness to the police operation.

The witness describes how the police then broke down the door to the premises and searched it; then technicians arrived at the scene.

A man who usually visits the mosque has reached the closed-off location.

“I was married in this mosque, and I have been coming here for about ten years. It is a good mosque, and I have never heard anyone say anything about terrorism or anything like it. This really surprises me, and I wonder what led to this,” says a man standing outside the mosque.

One of the police officers who are at the scene tells DN that he, among other things, is tasked with calming people who became upset when they saw the raid.

A Letter to the Cousins

Our English correspondent Seneca III addresses his latest remarks to his American cousins.

A Letter to the Cousins

by Seneca III

On this side of the pond and then on over the ditch to Europe, there is increasing chaos. The political classes, the academics and the politicians we have elected are scrambling around and promoting this DEI excrement which has turned so much of our national socio-economic landscapes into moral wildernesses by selling out to these ‘new citizens’, the so called ‘immigrants’ and ‘refugees’ who are in fact illegally-entered black and brown criminals (mostly Muslim) from every failed country on earth. They are slowly and violently taking over the streets, public spaces and public transport across the continent.

Stabbings, street robberies, rape gangs and shootings are now an unwelcome integral part of our way of life, and parts of several major cities such as Londonistan, which is now minority white, are infested with dangerous no-go areas unsafe even in daylight. At night they become war zones where different factions, races and gangs fight it out for control. Europe, with a couple of notable exceptions, is much the same.

In Aberdeen, Shell’s headquarters were targeted today with orange paint as Just Stop Oil activists claimed responsibility. They seem not to understand that the Universe, even if only to the extent of the thirteen-billion-year time/distance limited horizons we can presently observe, is huge beyond our comprehension. It is deep, complicated, profoundly mysterious and interconnected in ways we do not yet understand… if we ever will. That Extinction Rebellion and its various analogues should presume to tell us how it works on our cosmological microscale and that we are responsible for perfectly natural events smacks of the destructive knee-jerk response of simple-minded children.

We still do not know if solar activity and climate are constructive partners or destructive antagonists, for our collective life span is too short compared with that of Mother Sun. Homo sapiens sapiens still has a long way to go to complete its evolution into Homo solaris and even further to Homo stellaris, but one wonders how those far-distant descendants of ours will look back and view the twitterings of these gullible drones so taken in by the great global warming/carbon tax scam.

With much time on my hands these days, this redneck from over the pond has used it to keep a beady eye on you guys and I have a subliminal feeling that a major geopolitical sea change is underway over there. It’s hard to pin down amidst the furore surrounding Trump, the November presidential election and what will happen after, but there are some clues to be found in these snippets I have picked up during my interweb meanderings:

It’s Not a Good Time to Be a Jew in Western Europe

The two videos below represent just a small sample of stories that have been coming in from Western Europe about Jews being attacked in the street. More are in the pipeline, and will eventually be posted here.

These two clips don’t mention the ethnicity of the attackers, but does anyone seriously doubt that cultural enrichment was involved?

One clue is the fact that no such attacks have been reported in Hungary, which is widely considered the safest European country in which to be a Jew. Hungary hasn’t allowed mass immigration from the Third World, so Jews in Budapest are generally able to go about their business unmolested.

The first clip features a French Jew who was badly beaten, with stitches still showing on his forehead during the interview. Many thanks to Brunhilde for the translation, and to Vlad Tepes and RAIR Foundation for the subtitling:

The second video concerns an incident that occurred in the Swiss city of Zurich, in which an Orthodox Jew was attacked with a knife. Many thanks to Gary Fouse for the translation, and to Vlad Tepes and RAIR Foundation for the subtitling:

The Peaceful Sweden Has Been Abolished

Fjordman’s latest essay concerns the ghastly realities of culture-enriching violence in Modern Multicultural Sweden.

The Peaceful Sweden Has Been Abolished

by Fjordman

In seven hours between March 4 and March 5, 2024, bombs detonated at two different apartment buildings in the Stockholm region, in Lidingö and Farsta.[1] Individuals suspected of being linked to rival factions in the country’s bloody gang wars are said to be living at these locations.[2]

Two bombs in one day in Sweden’s capital and Scandinavia’s largest city would at one time have been truly unexpected and shocking. Unfortunately, that is no longer the case. Now, it is just another Monday or Tuesday. This is the brutal reality of Swedish society today.

Over the years I have written many essays about crime in Sweden. If I no longer do so as frequently as before, this is not because crime has gotten less. It is simply more difficult to mobilize sufficient mental energy to write about unpleasant subjects such as gang rapes or gang crimes.

You know that there will be more bombings, shootings, or arson attacks in Sweden next week, and the week after that, and the week after that. Why write about all of them? This is hardly news anymore. It is simply part of everyday life.

Perhaps this can be described as a form of war fatigue.

I was a child in the 1980s and understood little of Islam or ethnic conflicts. Nevertheless, I remember sometimes mentally tuning out when hearing news from the war in Lebanon. There is only so much human suffering one can stomach. Yes, it was sad to hear about people being killed in attacks, but one expected more deadly attacks in Lebanon the next day.

I had similar reactions to the wars in the Balkans in the 1990s, after the breakup of the former Yugoslavia. Hearing about human beings being shot or bombed was always horrible. But again, one fully expected more of the same next week, and was often proven right.

Partly to my dread, I realize that I now have similar mental reactions to atrocities in Sweden and other countries in Western Europe. I suffer from war fatigue. Not from attacks in Lebanon or the Balkans, but in France, Germany, Italy, Britain, Spain, the Netherlands, and Belgium.

It may sound strange to develop war fatigue from countries that are nominally at peace. Yet Sweden suffers from violent attacks of some kind almost daily. Is that truly what peace looks like?

In 2008, the Swedish writer Anders Lugn wrote an article titled “Sweden’s road to disaster.” Somewhat unusually, he even had this text published in the major newspaper Aftonbladet. In the 1980s, Lugn served as a captain in UN-led peacekeeping forces in Lebanon during the Lebanese Civil War. While living there, he asked himself how it was possible for such a wonderful country with so many good people to commit national suicide and self-destruct? Among several reasons for the collapse of Lebanese society he mentions a weak sense of national identity and common values, weak national armed forces, a weak police force, easy access to weapons (legal or illegal), and easy access to drugs. There was also a general sense of powerlessness among average citizens.[3]

Anders Lugn was deeply concerned to observe that many of the factors that contributed to a brutal civil war in Lebanon are now also at work in his native Sweden.

The Incredible Shrinking Dollar

Last night I posted a graph of the increase in US national debt. The recent ballooning of the debt makes the slope of the graph quite steep, and it will undoubtedly get even steeper.

Our national debt is currently said to be about $34.5 trillion. The latest population estimate I could find for the country is 331 million (the actual figure is probably several million higher than that, due to the huge influx of illegal immigrants in the last few years, but I’ll go with the official figure).

$34.5 trillion divided by 331 million people equals approximately $104,000 per man, woman, and child in the USA.

That figure includes minor children, welfare recipients, and officially acknowledged illegal immigrants, rather than actual taxpayers. I looked at the IRS website to get the number of people who file federal tax returns, and it’s roughly 162 million.

$34.5 trillion divided by 162 million taxpayers equals approximately $213,000 per taxpayer.

Mind you, that includes people who pay little or no tax. And the latter group includes rich people, who usually pay no more in tax than the average minimum-wage employee. Instead they pay a much smaller sum to accountants, and more importantly to lobbyists who make sure that Congress enacts the requisite tax loopholes. It’s a very cost-effective strategy if you’re in the top 1%.

In other words, the tax burden for repaying the national debt will be borne by middle-class taxpayers. I can’t give you an exact figure, but we know the average middle-class taxpayer would be on the hook for well over $213K.

And that’s just for the debt at its current level. Remember, it’s increasing at a rate of approximately $1 trillion every 100 days. That’s $3,021 per person, and an annual rate increase of $6,173 per person. If we just count the taxpayers, that’s an increase every year of $22,531 on the back of each taxpayer. And that’s assuming the rate of increase does not increase (the “delta squared”), which seems unlikely.

The upshot of all this is that the national debt will never be repaid. Productivity cannot possibly rise quickly enough to raise GDP to a level that would bring in enough tax money to pay off the debt.

There are only two possible ways to deal with the debt: (1) Repudiate it, or (2) Monetize it. #2 means printing more money, which is the current strategy. As more and more non-Western countries abandon using “the world’s reserve currency” to settle their trade deals, to keep the debt engine steaming along the USA has to lend the money to itself. That is, the Treasury issues bonds, and the Fed buys them. That’s the same as printing money.

The end result of #2 is hyperinflation, of which we are seeing the earliest signs.

Terror Plot Foiled in Belgium

The Islamization of Belgium proceeds apace.

Many thanks to Gary Fouse for translating this article from the Flemish daily De Standaard:

Radicalization: Four suspects in terror investigation arrested, among them a 15-year-old from Ninove

On Sunday morning, the federal police arrested four persons in Ninove, Brussels, Charleroi, and Luik [Liege], in the context of a terror investigation within the jihadist environment. “The four were making plans for a terror attack,” says the Federal Prosecutor’s Office.

by Cedric Lagast and Mark Eeckhaut
March 3, 2024

The special units raided four different addresses early Sunday morning across the country. The action was accompanied by considerable security measures. They were looking for four persons who had contact on the Internet where they were formulating a plan for a terror attack.

They are an adult from Liege and three minors from Ninove, Brussels, and Charleroi. The suspect from Ninove is barely 15 years old. All four are French-speaking. They found each other on the Internet. From the conversations they participated in, it can be deduced that they are radicalized. They reportedly talked about the Islamic State, among other things.

Terrorist group

“They are suspected of participating in a terrorist group and preparing for a terrorist attack,” says Eric Van Der Sypt, from the Federal Prosecutor’s Office. During the house searches, no weapons or explosives were found.

The target of the attack was has not yet been determined. “But in such a situation, we prefer to intervene,” the Federal Prosecutor’s Office says. “Better too early than too late.”

An ISIS Bride on Trial in The Netherlands

Many thanks to Gary Fouse for translating this article from the Algemeen Dagblad:

Children’s slippers still lay on the ground, ISIS wife Xaviera prosecuted for plunder in Syria

The Dutch ISIS wife Xaviera S. from Apeldoorn must still be prosecuted because she allegedly engaged in plunder in Syria, a war crime. She is the first to be prosecuted for this offense in the Netherlands. She also allegedly threatened a Dutch columnist and a journalist with death while in Syria. She herself blames her deceased husband.

by Cyril Rosman
March 1, 2024

A pan of rice was still on the counter. And children’s slippers still lay on the carpet by the mattresses. Yet the Dutch traveler to Syria, Xaviera S. (now 30), never asked her husband how he actually came into possession of that house in that Syrian village. “He always told me not to interfere.”

She also didn’t ask when they later moved several times, including to Raqqa, then the capital of the ISIS caliphate. There she lived, among other places, on the top floor of a villa. Her husband’s second wife lived on the first floor. And some of the houses, according to the prosecution were clearly left behind by refugees.

First Dutch woman

Taking possession of houses and their contents for yourself is plunder, and therefore a war crime, the Public Prosecutor’s office argued Friday in The Hague court. “The impact of looting is huge. Not just for individual people, but also for the rebuilding of the country”. S is the first Dutch ISIS wife to be brought to trial for this offense, but there are now more cases in progress.

The Apeldoorn woman asked no questions of her husband, the Dutch jihadist Anis Z. But she suspected then, as she confirmed Friday, that the houses may have belonged to people “who did not follow the rules of ISIS”. “And at that time, I could agree.”

Xaviera S. traveled to the conflict zone in 2014. The Apeldoorn woman of Netherlands/Antilles origin had been deep in problems in the years prior (drinking, smoking drugs, debts), for which Youth Care Services took her son away. She converted to Islam. “I wanted a purpose in my life.”

Married via Skype

But Xaviera soon winds up in radical circles. Via Skype, she enters into an Islamic marriage with Anis Z., a known jihadist who is in Syria. Without seeing him, she travels there not long afterwards.

“In reality, he was a completely different person than via Skype,” she says about Anis in court. In addition to Xaviera, the Dutch citizen had three other wives, also Dutch. Anis blew himself up in 2015 in a suicide attack for ISIS. Xaviera remarried another jihadist, the Dutch-Algerian Mokhtar M.

In 2018, after the fall of the ISIS caliphate, Xaviera was in jail in Turkey for 1½ years. At the end of 2019, she returned to the Netherlands, where she was taken into custody. In May 2020 she was provisionally released because she was in the last stages of pregnancy.

She is back in court on Friday. The woman in the Hague courtroom no longer looks anything like the tightly-veiled ISIS wife who threatened people with death from the caliphate. Xaviera has her hair in a bun, wears jeans and a sweater, and has tattoos and a nose piercing. She no longer feels like a Muslim. She answers all questions calmly.
