The empire should put together recruitment videos to help wash away the stench of rebel propaganda.

A sad side effect of Han's blaster being a C96 is that the cosplay and replica communities have sucked the market dry for people interested in the gun itself.

u/Ns2- avatar

Like people buy historical ones and modify them?

More replies
u/littlechippie avatar

Im not sure how heavily they modified it. Looks like a tapped and drilled scope rail. Magazine removal and custom muzzle device. Shit you might be able to buy one of those muzzle devices online.

u/Echo017 avatar

The muzzle device is a flash hider from a WWII Luftwaffe machinegun :)

u/littlechippie avatar

So you could buy that, have a gunsmith maybe thread the barrel. Those scope rings look store bought and im sure that scope is as well.

Like very feasible to make your own. Not sure why someone would ask HK to make a Mauser gun tho....

Thats like asking Glock to make you a Five Seven.

I don't think they removed the magazine. You can see the base plate of it.

More replies
u/NatsPreshow avatar

I'm pretty sure its just an added scope, that cone on the nose, and the fins in front of the magazine. They didn't modify it that much.

Just like the Stormtrooper rifles are just Sten's with a scope and little fins around the barrel.

u/jbizzle31995 avatar

They filled in the Magwell as well.

u/NatsPreshow avatar

I wasn't sure if it was filled in or there was just a flush magazine they had inserted, but yeah, I guess that too.

Star Wars was created during the time of large battleships, aircraft carriers and such were the primary means of projecting power around the world. The military today is shifting gears towards fleets of numerous small craft, potentially submersibles. So you’re actually 100% correct, and for the reason we saw in the Last Jedi with the Holdo Maneuver.

[deleted]
[deleted]

Could I use the end of Guardians of the Galaxy as a counter-point?

[deleted]
[deleted]

I see what you mean, but they had an objective in boarding the Dark Aster. It would’ve been much cheaper (money and people) for some opposing organization to develop a missile and take the vessel out that way.

Big targets are easy to monitor and hit, which is what the Chinese navy is developing their counter-US strategy on: long range anti-ship missiles and diesel-electric submarines that can be hit by the same. In response, we’re developing our own smaller craft fleet and submarine force. Launching a million dollar missile is easy to justify if it’s aimed at an aircraft carrier or destroyer, but if it’s a 100 man vessel? Much more difficult to justify and engage.

Which is to say, the Empire should develop a fleet of Star Frigates and smaller craft to support their fleet of Star Destroyers. They should also change their positioning such that the destroyers can support each other but not be taken out by suicide attacks. If Snoke had several star destroyers instead of one large vessel, and all of them were engaging the Rebel fleet, even if Holdo did manage to take out two or three Star Destroyers in her attack, there would still be plenty of vessels left to continue their bombardment of the transport fleet and the First Order could have avoided the immense embarrassment it suffered on Krait.

u/bearpw avatar

I think your forgetting one thing about the Supremacy. It's not just a big battleship, it's the flagship of the First Order's entire navy, and their capital city rolled into one. They need a big ship to handle all of the command and control, troop training, and weapon manufacturing that the FO requires.

I too agree with the Grand Admiral and Lord Vader.

[deleted]
[deleted]

I mean, a fleet super star destroyers each carrying several wings of TIE Defenders (with more than sufficiently trained pilots) is all you really need for power projection.

I mean an Executor Class has a Class 2.0 Hyperdrive, opposed to the Death Star's incredibly slow Class 4.0.

On the contrary, if memory serves, the Grand Admiral regards even Dreadnoughts such as the Executor to be a needless waste of materiel, work the Imperial-class being the most cost effective capital ship model.

They're spreading awareness of the fact that due to the incompetence of Former Director Krennic, a filthy rebel sympathizer was allowed to take a leading role in the construction of the Death Star (a name I much prefer, nothing wrong with imposing a little bit of death on disorderly planets). This of course led to the destruction of one of the greatest achievements in galactic history.

They Slam the poor construction of the Freedom Star.

And they are right to do so. The Freedom Star was intentionally constructed with exploitable flaws by the traitor Galen Erso, if we had used a patriotic loyal company like Heckler & Koch we would not have had this issue.

It is not unpatriotic to bemoan the actions of traitors when they tarnish the good name of your empire and waste imperial resources in their foolish attempts to assist this so called "rebellion" that is really nothing more than a rogue terrorist organization trying to usurp power from the rightful government. If anything it's unpatriotic to act like the actions of a traitor WERE a good thing.

In a world of compromises, some people put the bullets in the magazine backwards…But it doesn’t matter, because our gun is on the cover of the Rainbow Six video games. Look how cool that SEAL coming out of the water looks… If you buy a $2,000 SOCOM, you will be that cool of an operator too. And chicks will dig you.

At HK, we stuck a piston on an AR15, just like a bunch of other companies have done, dating back to about 1969. However ours is better, because we refuse to sell it to civilians. Because you suck, and we hate you.

Our XM8 is the greatest rifle ever developed. It may melt, and it doesn’t fit any accessories known to man, but that is your fault. If you were a real operator, you would love it. Once again, look at Rainbow Six, that G36 sure is cool isn’t it? Yeah, you know you want one.And by the way, check out our new HK45. We decided that humans don’t need to release the magazine with their thumbs. If you were a really manly teutonic operator, you would be able to reach the controls. Plus we’ve fired 100,000,000 rounds through one with zero malfunctions, and that was while it was buried in a lake of molten lava, on the moon. If you don’t believe us, it is because you aren’t a real operator.

By the way, our cheap, mass-produced, stamped sheet metal guns like the G3 and MP5 are the bestest things ever, and totally worth asinine scalpers prices, but note that cheap, mass-produced, stamped sheet metal guns from other countries are commie garbage. Not that it matters, because you’re civilians, so we won’t sell them to you anyway. Because you suck, and we hate you, but we know you’ll be back.
