The wife swap case shocked the basic morals and exposed the ill deals running with impunity in the state. The 26-year-old wife who complained about the furtive deals was hacked to death by her husband. Now, as per reports, the husband himself has swallowed poison in a bid to escape punishment for the murder. Shino Mathew consumed poison and is failing in health when he was last shifted to Kottayam medical college.

The Mannarkkad native 26-year-old wife was laying in a pool of blood just in front of her house which alarmed the neighbors. She was rushed to the medical college but died soon after admitting. Her father pointed fingers at Shino which made the police go against the husband, also the main brain behind the wife's swap case.

Wife-swapping case

The controversial case made headlines in January 2022 after the wife of accused lodged a complaint at the Karukachal police station.

5000 couples were active

The probe found almost 5,000 couples active on various social media platforms that reportedly promoted wife swapping. Back then, the police arrested six people soon after a probe. The wife-swapping gang had been active since 2018.

Arrests were made

After receiving the complaint, the police formed various teams to nab the accused and intensified the hunt with the help of the cyber cell. Finally, the accused were arrested from Thumboli beach area and Punnapra from Alappuzha district, Kaloor in Ernakulam district and Kooroppada and Aymenem in Kottayam district.

Forced participation

The 26-year-old woman approached the Karukachal police station after continuous intimidation from her husband. It was two years ago that she was made to join a wife- swapping group on social media by her husband.

The 32-year-old husband used this group for making money and having sex with other women. But when his torture crossed all limits, she finally sought the police's help.

'Studs' paid ₹14000

According to the police, nine people were involved in violating the woman. Six of the accused were arrested. Out of the three remaining accused, a person from Kollam has left the country. Among the nine, five arrived as couples with their wives. Four were single. These individuals referred to as 'studs' have to pay Rs 14,000 to the group.

The article has victim's name and address, along with the image. I am not that good with legality, but I have heard that it's an offense to reveal the details of a victim in sexual abuse cases.

So chose to mask the details. Since you know the incident, you can search to find the details given in actual news article.

Hope you are aware of the Delhi rape case. Victim is known as Nirbhaya, not by the actual name.

Nirbhaya was alive for around 2 weeks after the incident.

Why the hell so many here are concerned about the legality of wife swapping. The accused here was remanded in custody, got bail and committed a gruesome murder. That's a complete mockery of our judicial and home affairs.

It’s great that you post and it’s good that you took the time to safeguard yourself but you didn’t do a good job at it. In this case your objective is not satisfied. That’s all.

You don’t have to repost it. If most of the larger papers have published the name then I don’t think there’s an issue anymore. They usually have legal teams that give clearance before doing anything like this.

The poor kids. Life is very cruel. Also there seems to be an uptick in killings of females by their toxic male partners that too in the most gruesome manners possible. We need a serious discussion why this is happening in 2023. Another gruesome incident recently involved young mother commiting suicide and murdering her 9 month old baby that too by burning. As a parent myself such incidents are distressing and i feel like I have lost a piece of my soul. It seems the new generation of parents don't love their kids as much as the previous generations did or atleast it appears that way on superficial analysis.

Every married couple be given counselling, need more counselling centers. That kama prandan needs to be punished severely. He used her body to earn money, that too 4 guys. Why do people want the victims name?

Religious folks add more counselling classes for those who are going to be married and push outdated stuff from religious books down their throat. Absolutely irrelevant in 21st century but they wouldn't understand that. The couples counseling classes that I've found beneficial were from educated and practicing counselors who have experience dealing with couples issues in recent times.

No No not that one. Some social welfare organisations and institutes provide counselling to couples regarding birth control, planning lifestyle changes, how to understand each other and solve disputes. Some victims of wife beaters are afraid to speak. So if they are guided they can get away with their lives. Also helps society as they dont have to hear high volume drama between husband wife everyday. Paatram eriyal, chillu pottikal, pillare adikina kallu kudiyan etc.

Also class for parents not to interfere and cause clashes between couples. Do not force "kunju kaal kanan kodi aayi" emotional black mail..... Be nice guys.

Just to add I understand, men too have issues regarding domestic violence. That too needs to be addressed false dowry cases etc.

    Such Partner Swapping is widely common in Kochi. Some key socialites, people at top positions of hotels, Fort Kochi Hotels, Pub & Bar businesses owners are involved. Woman & Men with kids are involved.
