Publications

To provide a venue for the discussion of progressive ideas and allow the public to benefit from our insightful research and imaginative advocacy, NPI offers several publications. These are:

The Cascadia Advocate

Founded in March of 2004, The Cascadia Advocate is NPI’s long-form blog, offering frequent commentary and analysis from NPI’s staff, board, and guest contributors. NPI’s Cascadia Advocate has repeatedly been named one of The Washington Post’s Best State Political Blogs and has been credentialed to cover many presidential visits, national political conventions, and campaign events. It is one of the oldest continuously published political blogs in the United States.

In Brief

Founded in March of 2009, In Brief is NPI’s microblog — a sibling to The Cascadia Advocate where staff share observations about politics and share what they’re reading, watching, and listening to. In Brief provides a continuously curated collection of asides, recommended links, quotations, audio and video clips, still images, and transcribed dialogue.

PNWcurrents

Founded in June of 2021, PNWcurrents is NPI’s podcast. Presented in a panel format and hosted by Caya Berndt, this show brings together thinkers, activists, elected representatives, and topical experts from Washington, Oregon, and Idaho to have constructive conversations about local and regional politics, policy, major issues, and ideas that impact the Pacific Northwest.

The Evergreen Connection

Founded in October of 2013, The Evergreen Connection is NPI’s email newsletter, available to members and supporters. Recipients receive periodic updates on NPI’s work, along with installments of Framing Sense, NPI’s series on effectively communicating progressive ideas.
