One of the best remasters ever made, that actively improves the original game, in terms of graphics, AI, and the enormous volume of content.
It’s an oppressively brown shooter, but it still carries the speedy, lightweight combat that makes older FPS games still pop today. The changes that Nightdive brought in for the remaster make it even more enjoyable and accessible.
Nightdive's Quake II remaster is one of the best values in a year overflowing with fantastic games. It appeals to veterans who played the original, and all the customization bells and whistles make it welcoming to players who want to experience it for the first time.
Quake II returns with a new version that is the perfect tribute to the original version. Veteran and new players have at their disposal a good amount of hours of fun accompanied by multiple improvements and new missions that also have the essence of id Software's game.

Quake II arrives on Switch in the form of one of the very best remasters we've ever had the pleasure of digging into. With enhanced graphics and audio, refined AI, all-new animations, the iD Vault, a brand new episode, and all previously released DLC in the mix - plus the N64 version - this is an exhaustive package that Quake fans are absolutely gonna eat up. Add in crossplay support, gyro controls, and lots of co-op and competitive ways to play locally and online, and you've got an absolutely outstanding release.
In the end, you can define Quake II, in one word: intensity. Those sweet moments that get some works in which not only the mechanics are fun, but work as a gear for a greater cause. In this case, maintain its dizzying pace and help the player to use the entire team without falling into conformism. So much so that, after finishing the campaign, the first question that comes to mind is: what if I start again with the amount of things I have learned now? That's where it all makes sense and you realize that, indeed, Quake II is eternal.
