I just finished watching Thank you for smoking for the first time. The film is good and Eckhart really shines in it. He's funny, sexy, witty. With The Dark Knight not long after that, he seemed on the trajectory to become an A-Lister. But his carrier plummeted in the 2010's.
Does anyone know what happened with him ? Bad choice of movies ? Personnal stuff or a scandal that i am not aware about ?

After The Dark Knight and Rabbit Hole he’s basically only been in subpar movies. Does anyone know what his game plan has been or is it all just about the $$$?
For a great actor I expected to see him in higher caliber productions within the last decade but Thank You for Smoking and TDK are still his best performances.

Just threw on Black Dahlia. I'm only like 20 minutes in, but it made me curious: Why didn't Aaron Eckhart ever really pop. He seemed destined for at least high level character actor. Was he market corrected by John Hamm (he might be the only other person I can imagine as Don Draper)?

I was just reminded of him because someone linked to from the David Dastmalchian thread.
He was a pretty big deal when The Dark Knight came out IIRC, and he was definitely getting great reviews for this performance. Looking through his wiki page, it looks like (save for Sully) he followed up doing mediocre action movies. Was this by choice? Or does/did he just have a terrible agent?
EDIT: The photo you're seeing was pulled automatically from the article I linked. I KNOW it's not him. Reddit is stupid, don't blame me.
