All we know, ambiguously, is that the war ends, and that the empire ends up as the bad guys. We don't know the terms of the treaty, or what happens to the empire after the war, or how "defeated" the empire really was at the end of it all. You can lose WW1/2 and end up correctly dismantled by the allied powers in a way that leaves you a major player in european politics again in short order while the mages relax in secret cushy jobs, but we don't know if that happens or not.

There are some pretty specific parts where they mention that they weren’t able to get to the industrial heartlands with bombers, although that might be the book. Basically, unlike WW2, the empire hasn’t really lost the air war yet. The empire continues to limp its way through the wars via individual brilliant military campaigns that immediately reverse fortunes, but we’re still not really sure what happens “after” yet.

The fundamental issue is probably the way innovation works. It’s too simple to keep pace with the rest of Europe - build a handful of universities and you make the same innovation as the west without westernizing. Sure, literacy gets involved, but since the ai don’t max out their innovation, russia can chug along in its corner without feeling any pressure to industrialize by getting a few military techs. 

It’s… more complicated than that. If you haven’t read the light novels, it might not be obvious, but there are other goals here than winning or losing that surface

If the progress of the light novel had anything to do with the anime, we’d already be set. There are like two more seasons worth of light novel content available for them.

Agree with everyone saying to just enjoy the game. My two cents is that the key to getting further sooner rests on a couple core principles: reduce time spent manually farming, and upgrading tools as early as feasible. You can reduce time spent manually farming through three avenues: plant fewer, higher margin crops; reduce your time spent watering, either by upgrading your watering can (HUGE), or by crafting sprinklers early (even normal sprinklers can be useful if you aren’t deep in the mines yet); focus on artisanal goods and getting animals as soon as possible, and just planting enough crops to work through your artisanal capacity. As for tools, making sure you’ve got them up to date lets you progress through everything quicker. In the mines, you should get the upgraded version of your pickaxe as soon as you get access to the ore for it in the dungeon. If you are getting to the mine later than like 2 PM on days you’re going for it, you have too many things to water. Your farming will actually go faster if you plant less, go to the mine more, make sprinklers, and use those to expand how many crops you take care of. Another trap to watch out for is the third backpack upgrade. Its really nice to have that third bar, but that 10k is a huge investment that only really pays off if you don’t manage your inventory properly before going somewhere

Anyone who thinks they can do this can’t. Maybe, maybe if there is like a one month sign on period where you learn to be still. But a complete lack of fidgeting or scratching goes deeply against human instinct and you’d need a lot more than ten tries to get good at it

Sometimes things bounce around in your head and haunt you and you gotta let them out. OP is probably hoping someone says “that didn’t happen” and gives them peace of mind.
