Leave your clown shoes at the door. Fuck the Ravens, Steelers, Cowboys, and Patriots. Also, fuck DeShaun Watson with a rusty snow blower.
Interesting how much the award has been dominated by a small group of players compared to those of other sports. The three players above along with Brady and Manning are responsible for 14 of the 17 wins since 2007.
The counts for other leagues:
NBA: 9 (James, Rose, Durant, Curry, Westbrook, Harden, Antetokounmpo, Jokic, Embiid)
NHL: 10 (Crosby, Ovechkin, Perry, Malkin, Kane, McDavid, Hall, Kucherov, Draisaitl, Matthews)
AL: 8 (Verlander, Trout, Donaldson, Altuve, Betts, Abreu, Ohtani, Judge)
NL: 11 (Votto, McCutchen, Kershaw, Harper, Bryant, Stanton, Yelich, Bellinger, Freeman, Goldschmidt, Acuna)
Bill Simmons is a sportswriter, television personality, and podcaster. After many successful years at ESPN as a writer, tv host, and creator (of Grantland & 30 for 30), he signed a lucrative deal to partner with HBO. He currently hosts "The Bill Simmons Podcast", and founded TheRinger.com and Ringer Podcast Network in 2016
I don't listen to his podcast, so my only exposure to him are the Sunday NBA pods with Simmons, which I really enjoy. I was listening to the Rewatchables yesterday and when it was done Spotify autoplayed Russillo's breakdown of the Superbowl pod. He literally spent 10 minutes reading off the play-by-play, and then added his take that the fumbled punt and missed extra point were huge difference makers. Wow, what insight. Is his football analysis always this lazy?
