Last year, my partner and I walked into one of our favorite restaurants on Super Bowl Sunday. Normally they are booked weeks out at a minimum. With so many people watching at home or in sports bars, etc., places with no TV are not as busy.
tl;dr: Book now, eat well!
Moment of Clarity: I shared this after the fact last year. I'm sharing now so people don't forget and have time to use the tip!
EDIT: Definitely read the replies for other ideas on how to use the time away from the crowds.

From the early stages of pregnancy to when your teenagers are finally ready to leave the nest (even if they don't want to) we're here to help you through this crazy thing called parenting. You can get advice on potty training, talk about breastfeeding, discuss how to get your baby to sleep or ask if that one weird thing your kid does is normal.
Unpopular opinion here. Travel and club level sports are a big scam! My kids (6, 8, 10 and 12) love sports, they’re of average, maybe slightly above average, athletic ability. They can keep up with their peers no problem. But the opportunities for regular, in-house, rec level sports leagues are basically non-existent anymore around us (Chicago burbs). Instead, you can “try-out” for a travel club and pay THOUSANDS to register, hundreds for uniforms, and thousands in travel costs to attend tournaments and games that are states away. I’m talking $10k/year for one kid all said and done. Not to mention the 5 days/week practices on top of weekend games. Cooperstown?!? What a freaking joke. Newsflash, almost ANY KID CAN MAKE THESE TEAMS. Your kid will make a team because the club knows you’ll shell out thousands of dollars regardless. It’s just companies preying on parents and their desire to have successful kids. And these “single sport athletes” at like 8 years old?!? Give me a break. What happened to spring baseball, fall football and winter basketball?!?! That’s all. Steps down from soapbox
- The changes in the look and feel of the television shows under the vision of Lee Fitting was noticeable on Raw this week. There will be more elements done to make the show feel more like a sports show, such as the UFC/boxing style taped showing the arrivals of Punk and Rhodes to the building with the clock and other elements of sports shows that Fitting has produced will be added in. This should become more and more evident in the weeks to come.

Turns out that supporting college athletics actually might be important because they form associations, relationships, and experiences that you can later refer back to. Whereas, outside of the government, academia, and certain ultra-high-level research positions, people just fucking believe you when you say you have a diploma.
You'll spend far more time throughout your life thinking about college sports than you will thinking about the college itself.
TL;DR: Go to a college you will be comfortable rooting for sports in for the rest of your life.
Subreddit for Major League Baseball. From discussions, news, and highlights from all thirty MLB teams.
Me and my dad (born in 1977) were discussing the worst teams of all time (nfl, nba, mlb) and came to the conclusion that the worst team that’s he’s been alive for have been the kings, who have done absolutely nothing. Is there maybe an mlb team that’s had it worse historically or have they all had more sucess than the kings?
A Portland subreddit that focuses on a variety of opinions, and in the free expression thereof.
I woke up early, and saw that SC was live on Sling, I haven’t watched the show in a few years, but I was hoping to see some College Basketball highlights. There was a pretty decent shakedown in the CBB world last night with 11th ranked Oklahoma getting beat by un-ranked Texas, and 6th ranked Kentucky getting smoked by un-ranked South Carolina…
There was a lot more that happened in the CBB world, but all they cared to talk about was AG being fired, which is old news at this point. C’mon SC, where the hell are the CBB highlights?
I was hoping to get some highlights of the games I missed, but they’d rather milk the cow on a coach being fired. College Basketball has plenty of prospects across the country who will likely declare for the NBA draft after the CBB season is over, let’s see some of their highlights from last night!
First off, I love sports; football, basketball, hockey, soccer, baseball, etc. I love the fans and the community for each one as well, I love the rivalries and everything that comes with wins and losses. But I do not like what sports talk shows have become.
The fact that they have full episodes of “let’s talk about how player x’s emotions are”, or this player’s social media posts make me feel this way or that way, or personal opinions of talk show hosts. Or what they do in their quiet time. They are even getting down to players personal private lives and their families.
It’s not 100% bad but most of it is. Sports networks are grasping for content, they burned out anything remotely interesting in the sport itself. If you watch sports talk shows then it is no different than watching the kardashian’s, so if you watch the talks shows don’t bash those celebrity shows because you contribute to the same formula. These sports networks are dramatizing random every day life of people, they are becoming another MTV, which I understand the need for the content shift.
I know I’m in the minority on this idea but they can talk about stats, numbers, history and future. Emphasize more on achievements, personal or macro level. They can talk about how teams or leagues or even individual players are giving back to their community or schools. Positive things happening because of the sport. They can talk about initiatives, what can be better, what can be done to improve the sport, improve the education of kids, improve community involvement and after school programs. Fun facts, whimsical news. There’s tons of positive or valuable stuff that can be discussed instead. But no, people want the drama, they want the controversy, the negative. It’s what sells.
The official subreddit of the National Hockey League! News, results, pictures, videos and discussion from around the league.
I just watched the Oilers score a goal after being in the offensive zone for 30 seconds or more, only to have it reversed due to an offsides call that had absolutely nothing to do with the subsequent 30 seconds of play that led to the goal. This rule is insane. How long can play continue before the offsides is no longer relevant? Officials miss calls, but it's not right to undo goals based on offsides that occur long before the goal.

BC Lions in the #2 spot of the Western Division?

I've been tuning in every here and there, and it's just all going to make you upset. This morning I started to feel a little better because in the grand scheme of things, this season was an unequivocal SUCCESS. We have every right to sulk and feel awful about how things ended, but there's no reason to believe that the upwards slope this team has been on is going to slow down. I also don't have a reason to believe that Brad Holmes isn't going to fortify this team through free agency and the draft. DETROIT IS A HOT DESTINATION, we are going to fucking rock and roll in the off-season. We have a ton of cap space, I'm very excited to see how this off-season goes.
We are going to get torn apart on TV and the radio, just stay away from it. A lot of outraged fans calling in pointing fingers and acting belligerent on the radio, I decided to stick to other means of entertainment than sports radio this month lol.
