NFL
Hi all. I just checked my calendar, and it looks like it's the offseason for everyone. I say for *everyone*, because as a Giants fan, my offseason started in about mid-October. Anyway, with the body of 2023 season dead but still warm, I wanted to share a study I have done on how much foot is in football.
I did learn something when I posted this to dataisbeautiful (from about fifty angry "Akshually" guys). Obviously, we know that American football is named after some footbally sports in other countries. But what I didn't know, is that those other sports weren't named "football" because of the kicking. They were named football because they came about when sports were all played on horseback. This new way of sports, on your feet was called football because they would walk/run with their own legs and not on a horse. Which really ruins the entire premise of this analysis. But since most people don't know that stupid fact, we can ignore it also and laugh at American football not using their foot enough.
Huge shout out to who came through in a pinch with some stats I really needed from their database when Pro-football-reference failed me. Thank you, Digging!

The NFL today is almost like a different game compared to the way it was played back in the day. The players were often bloody and muddy, the quarterbacks weren’t treated like fragile primadonnas, and the logos and lore were legendary. If you are nostalgic for the Gridiron greatness of the past, this sub is for you.
