What are you reading?
I am starting to read Redemption Point by Candice Fox. I hope I enjoy this book better than the first book Crimson Lake.

Finished The Force by Don Winslow. An ambitious, well researched crime novel about corrupt cops reminiscent of LA Quartet and The Shield, it is not as exceptional as either but still a fine book in its own right. Rating - 4/5.

Just finished Kafka's, The Trial. Was kinda brutal. I know it's dated and that factors into the style, but my lands... make your point and move on. :)
Deep in Bradbury's, The Day it Rained Forever. It's incredible. Again, the style is of another time, but man, Ray could write.
Best,
Rob

Finished The Sins of the Fathers by Lawrence Block. The first entry in the Matt Scudder series and it is pretty evident why Block is held in such high esteem among fans of the genre. Rating - 4/5.

. A modern thriller again with its angst. I reading it now. Like the descriptions of the cruise. Just getting into the mystery now where she thinks a body fell off the ship!
Just finished Dead Wake: The Last Crossing of the Lusitania
and need something short and funny. I think I will start The Invisible Code
.
Just started my second Claudia Pineiro: Thursday Night Widows and love the way she slowly develops suspense and tension with a minimum of words.
A Cold Day in Hell by Lissa Marie Redmond
Before and Again by Barbara Delinsky
After Anna by Lisa Scottoline

Finished The Woman in the Window by A.J. Finn. Lots of hype about this one but does not live up to it. Shallower and stupider than it pretends to be. Rating - 3/5.

I'm currently reading PD James's "Devices and Desires" I liked Martin Shaw as detective Adam Dalgliesh in the TV series.

Agreed. In general, why are British mystery and crime series done so much better than American versions? Exception, of course, is the original Law and Order.

I believe it's intricacy on how the British string their words together. Just an opinion.....

Finished Burning Angel by James Lee Burke. So far I have sung praises of Robicheaux series in all of my groups but this one did not work for me. Magical realism and gritty crime does not mix well together. Rating - 2/5
