I found an answer, the dress had some sort of an unfortunate bodysuit situation going on: "panty was built into the dress so when i put it on, the shoulder straps pulled the strings up through my cervix and split me like a block of sharp cheddar cheese. A bitch never thought she could get man handled by a piece of fabric. The panty on this contraption took me under the bleachers and ransacked my shit."

It's kinda visible in this pic. Still no clue why she agreed to wear it.

I mean, it sounds like they made it specifically for her/the event and I’m sure there are contracts involved. Plenty of times I’ve gone out in an outfit and not realized until far too late that it’s uncomfortable for a million different reasons. She probably thought it would be fine until she spent an entire evening in it.

It’s especially bad because she wore this to a Victoria’s Secret event and I’m assuming they gave her this outfit to wear. It’s a bad look if your client doesn’t have a well fitting outfit, so why would consumers bother to purchase from your brand. Doja is definitely burning bridges here.

How these brand deals usually work is that the brand forces celebrities to choose from specific options only, or sometimes just sends them the dress… Likely she had asked for a basic slip dress or something and they send her this and it was too late to figure something else out.

I’m actually really proud of her for calling it out. Truth is women are expected to feel uncomfortable, for “faShiOn”. This trickles down to all of us as well. I think there is high time there is a proper conversation about intuitive designing that focuses on comfort and style, so that conversation can progress beyond “high heels suck”

I wasn’t a huge doja stan but I really do love her new music. Bald doja is my favourite Doja, she really owns herself more now.

I’m with you! I’m prob biased here because I do not like Victoria’s Secret and everything their brand represents so I find it refreshing when people call them out on their shit even if it’s from one of their wealthier clients

All Doja asked for was a slip dress to rep them at their show and they couldn’t even give her something in her size. Why should she just be quiet about it? They’re a billion dollar brand it’s the least they could’ve done

I think it’s a bit hypocritical and unprofessional. She’s still promoting the dress and she will take the money and PR from the deal. If you don’t like a brand or the quality of their clothes, don’t work with them. She’s also shooting herself in the foot because other designers will pay attention and not send her their fashion pieces when she keeps trying to be the complaining edgelord diva. This past year she just sounds ungrateful and confused about her place in the industry (complaining about fandom, pop & capitalism, but she’s still part of that world..she needs it and is benefiting from it).
