This book was different than what I was expecting, it moves a little slow in parts but I stuck with it. I did become interested in the characters and am glad I stuck with it. I did like how things came together. Not a lot of action in the book, some very thought provoking passages, and a few places that should have had some editing.
Great book focusing on two elderly women. The choices they make and decisions as young people. Also amazing story of a young girl and what happens. Great characters and an interesting ending.
A character-driven novel that gets wordy and unwieldy, but has a good plot. I read to the end to learn the resolution. Two 82 year-old women need a third owner to agree to dissolve an agreement before a greedy developer can step in and ruin a pristine bird sanctuary along the Maine coast.

I do feel like quite a bit could have been edited out. I was also disappointed by an unbelievable twist (Heidi’s identity) at the end.

I think this is a story that will stick with me and it reminded me of Crossing to Safety. I also love that the author created very complicated women who are not just one simple thing.
