Sorta stuff like Slint or Modest Mouse. Music that isn't just pure agressive rage music but also isn't super melancholy pretty sounding midwest emo type stuff while still maintaining some melancholy emotions. Hit me with your best reccs! No instrumental music please :)

Maybe it's just because I'm a Gen. Y/Millennial, but I can't find any new exciting groups. The last one I discovered (if I recall correctly) was The Dear Hunter (and they are almost 20 years old).
What are "new" good alt. rock/art rock/ prog rock bands?
For clarity, my favourite groups in that "genre" are Tool, Nine Inch Nails, Mr Bungle (and Mike Patton bands in general) The Smashing Pumpkins, Radiohead, At The Drive-In/Mars Volta (I don't know if I was clear enough, given that all that bands are quite unique and different)
