LL wants us to pay for 'roaches' 15 days after moving out LL wants us to pay for 'roaches' 15 days after moving out

ETA: USA-FL

"Roaches" in quotes because we think they don't exist, they just want to keep our security deposit.

In our year lease we never once saw a single roach. We deep cleaned and then hired professionals to carpet clean, just before move out, no one saw a single roach.

Our lease mentions pest prevention, we followed it to a tee and sent them invoices as proof.

They did the inspection 8 days after move out, took pictures and notes, did not mention or show ANY roaches. Pictures show how impeccably clean the home is - idk how else to explain how well we took care of this place!

It's 14 days after move out and we get a text from property manager that the owner would like us to cover the cost of roach extermination and cleaning?!?! This would be taken out of our security deposit. I feel like they are pulling this out of their asses to try and keep the security deposit since we followed the lease impeccably and left the home gorgeous. It's a big corporation, the owner lives across the country, so he's probably just doing what they suggest. So idk where he got the idea of roaches since there were none in the report. Idk.

Any advice? How do we handle this?

Roommate is getting violent, how can he get evicted? Roommate is getting violent, how can he get evicted?

[US-CA] Can my roommate get evicted? If so, how?? Im from CA, there are laws here to protect the tenant and landlord. Here is the story: I live with 3 people, my landlord, her son (pays rent) and me. Yesterday while I was working they got into a huge argument. Long story short, she was using the oven, this psycho (her son) goes and grabs the oven door, basically pulls it off the oven, and is like taunting her with the HOT oven door, my landlord is currently in crutches and he kinda like pushed her. So at this point she’s calling 911, he knows she is. He walks up stairs, while she’s downstairs talking on the phone with 911, and all she hears is banging. He broke her TV, and told her “I’ll be waiting for the cops outside”. So my landlord didn’t press charges when the cops showed up (I personally think she should’ve but it’s her son). Today in the morning he came back only to argue with her, and the asshole TOOK her crutches away and put them upstairs so she couldn’t move. HOW FUCKED! I’m beyond irritated of the constant arguing, I want him gone too. I pay rent and I no longer feel peace in this house. Is there any way she can evict him ? I personally am sick of him living here with the constant arguments. He destroyed her property. No, he has never gotten violent with me or anything.

My mother is dying but she never put me on the lease! My mother is dying but she never put me on the lease!

I was 3 years old when my single Mom moved into our 10 storey, Toronto apartment. It turns out 55 years later I still live with her and she never thought to put me on the lease.

Then she got sick in Sept. 2020 and I called the office and asked to be put on the lease. Denied. I asked again July 2022. Denied.

About 2 years ago the "landlord" started to reno units as tenants moved out and jacked up the rent by about $1000 a month.

Apparently Management doesn't consider me a "tenant" even though I've been paying rent from my sole account from at least 2007.

Suddenly in January 2024 Management returned my rent cheque stipulating the rent must be from the Leasee so now I'm writing cheques from our joint account and am signing it because my mother is no longer able to.

I don't have the money to hire a lawyer. My mother has less than a year to live and I'm terrified they are going to hike my rent and I'll be forced on the street. Do I have any recourse to get on the lease or am I screwed because my mother never put me on the lease with her? Please help if you have any advice!
