"Roaches" in quotes because we think they don't exist, they just want to keep our security deposit.
In our year lease we never once saw a single roach. We deep cleaned and then hired professionals to carpet clean, just before move out, no one saw a single roach.
Our lease mentions pest prevention, we followed it to a tee and sent them invoices as proof.
They did the inspection 8 days after move out, took pictures and notes, did not mention or show ANY roaches. Pictures show how impeccably clean the home is - idk how else to explain how well we took care of this place!
It's 14 days after move out and we get a text from property manager that the owner would like us to cover the cost of roach extermination and cleaning?!?! This would be taken out of our security deposit. I feel like they are pulling this out of their asses to try and keep the security deposit since we followed the lease impeccably and left the home gorgeous. It's a big corporation, the owner lives across the country, so he's probably just doing what they suggest. So idk where he got the idea of roaches since there were none in the report. Idk.
Any advice? How do we handle this?
