My partner had to move out recently, we separated, things got ugly and I needed a protection and property order. This means they got served papers and had to leave the place pretty quick, and they did have time to collect a few things.
Anyway I found a lotto ticket in a drawer.
Can I check it? Chances are, it's not a winner.
The date of purchase was after we separated so I guess it means it's not my property. But after years of financial abuse I want to check it and use the winnings for my legal fees.

Im a second year and just got a tough phone call from a partner. I made an error on a non billable assignment that they caught, so they said they no longer want to work with me and won’t staff me on billable matters. It was an attention to detail issue.
Im having a hard time getting work and my billables are super low. I didn’t make my hours last year and was told it’s crucial I make them this year. I feel like the writing is on the wall. I worked so hard to be here but can’t shake the feeling that I’m failing so I’m crying in my office on a Saturday morning.
Am I just not cut out to be a lawyer?
Please be nice. I’m having a hard day.

Hi, I am quite stressful recently, and one of it is child sexual abuse/harassment by my BIL to my younger sister (14 years old) This happened about 16 years ago and in my country, I knew about this 10 years ago. Hence I was away both of them then I didn’t do anything to help my sister. I supposed my elder sister (who married this BIL) didn’t know it as well but just realised recently she and my parents do know about it. I moved to NZ more than some years ago and my older sister moved here after me. I did help them settle but now I just decided to loose or even no contact with them to the point that I cannot forget/forgive what he did in the past. There are some other things I want to share but think it’s off the topic. My question is how can I overcome it, think it is not my responsibility to solve it but it is not worked and I am also worry if it may happen again to my daughter or even my wife here. Other question, can I report to police here to have a record and prevent it not happen again? Thanks.

Not sure if this the right sub, but perhaps can be pointed in the right direction.
I have a friend who works at a pharmacy. I have a problem and was prescribed medication and obviously she can just search the medication and find out my problem, which she has done. Today she shared with our friend group my problem which i had not told anymore and did not want anyone to know. She has also shared medication my dad is on with our friend group that i had not known or needed to know about.

This is a subreddit for tenants to help each other with landlords situations such as legal responsibilities and your rights as a tenant. Please include your state's abbreviation in post title. Example: (CA) for California
Just like the title says. About every 3 months or so, he tells me my rent is late. It is not.
I've tried different methods: sent checks, used bill pay from my bank, gone to the bank and deposited it into his account, used Zelle.
Nothing seems to work. He doesn't want to come pick up a check from me every month.
It always ends up me doing his accounting, him being proven wrong and not apologizing EVER.
Today he told me he was going to charge me a 5% late fee. I told him that I didn't agree to a 5% late fee and that I was not going to be doing his accounting for him moving forward.
Anyone have any advice or can commiserate? I'm happy to try and make things easier, but idk what to do.

TL;DR: My firm allows the Mega Back Door Roth 401(k), which I can't find a good explainer for online but is pretty simple to set up.
You're probably familiar with the 401(k) and IRA contribution limits, which are currently $23,000 and $7,000 respectively (although you will have to use to make the IRA contributions). At most employers, this will be the ceiling for how much tax advantaged money you can sock away for retirement each year. However, some firms allow Mega Back Door Roth contributions, which allows you to make another $46,000 in 401(k) contributions - more than doubling the amount of tax advantaged space available to you.
This $46k is ordinarily the space in which an employer is allowed to make matching contributions to employee 401ks, but obviously in Biglaw that's not really a thing. Instead, some firms allow you to fill that space up yourself with after-tax contributions to the 401k.
An "after-tax contribution" is ordinarily not a good idea: it means you pay income tax on the money now but also pay income tax on the gains when withdrawing the money in retirement. However, some firms will allow you to either convert those after-tax contributions into Roth contributions or transfer the money to an IRA, which will allow you to convert the money to Roth. Once converted, the money is tax free - you will not have to pay tax on any of it when withdrawing in retirement.
To see if your firm allows the MBDR, check if they allow A) after tax contributions and B) either an in-plan Roth rollover or an IRA rollover. My firm's plan website has a little toggle that, when activated, does the rollover automatically every time I make an after-tax contribution.
