As Sen. John McCain’s campaign for president floundered between the spring of 2007 and his comeback in the New Hampshire primary, his cash starved campaign had stalwart support from the top executives of EADS North America and Airbus North America. That’s the european planemaker that beat out Boeing for the contract to build the next generation of US Air Force tankers.
By Washington DC standards the $12,800 identified by the P-I is small potatoes, but it illustrates EADS/Airbus fondness for McCain.
The P-I has reported in the past that McCain has no love for Boeing, which he views as a corrupt company. (See the comments by Rep. Adam Smith.)
Not that Boeing didn’t earn McCain’s wrath by its misdeeds the first time this project was bid out.
