Commenting Policy:
As a public media organization, Crosscut is committed to presenting a diversity of voices and perspectives through the stories we produce. We invite our readers to participate in an active and respectful discourse through social media, among other avenues.
Crosscut will delete comments that:
- Are off-topic
- Target any protected groups, including but not limited to ethnicity, race, religion, LGBTQ, disability, etc;
- Are self-promotional
- Overuse all capitalized letters (the internet version of shouting)
- Contain profane language, personal attacks, spam, and/or certain links to other sites.
If there are repeated violations by a user, we reserve the right to ban the user from our page.
Crosscut is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization. To respect political opinions, criticism of public figures will be held to a broader standard, so long as comments do not violate other aspects of our community guidelines. Public figures include but aren’t limited to politicians, celebrities and people significant to public affairs.
The reason we moderate comments on our social media accounts is to ensure that the conversations are productive and thoughtful, and participants can still expect to be treated with respect.
Unfortunately, our staff cannot always immediately review submitted comments. For any further questions, please contact audience engagement manager Madeline Happold at madeline.happold@crosscut.com and include the subject line: COMMENT.
