Escape from Tarkov
The unofficial subreddit for the video game Escape From Tarkov developed by BattleState Games
I was scrolling through youtube and found this video about Tarkov and I think most of the people in this subreddit might want to watch it:
credit to , please go watch it.
Watching this video made me feel above the controversies, dramas, and debates surrounding this game. It clicked for me: fun, realism, reward feelings, and immersion are all different things that Tarkov can achieve in many ways.
With this wipe, this week's Reddit posts have been filled with players arguing about the new hitboxes and armor changes. Good armor no longer makes you an unstoppable force, and I really like that change, in contrast to most of the opinions I've read that say this change will negatively impact casual players or that there's now no advantage in using level 5/6 armor. And that is GOOD! Forget the casuals, forget the people who think it's insanely complex. You won't be aiming for a guy's armpit just because they don't have armor there; you will aim where you can at that moment, or the other guy will shoot you, and you'll be dead.
The point is no one is entitled to the need for feeling accomplished playing this game; you have to earn it yourself. And for me, that's a beautiful way of looking at this game, this piece of art. Yeah, art, because art is not for everyone, just as Tarkov is only for us, the degenerates who come back again and again, hooked on the feeling of dying, killing, looting, and escaping... only to thrive in a videogame where all the odds are pointing knifes at your back.
I know that this is just an opinion on an opinion video from a game that we all play differently but I just wanted to rant for a bit and see what other players might think about this. To me feels refreshing seeing that not everyone is dropping hate on the devs and every decision they make.

Iv been in the market for a new machine for a little while as mines about 9 years old now but I am having a hard time pulling the trigger because I only play Escape from Tarkov and World of Warcraft. People have been saying the 5800x3d and 7800x3d are like 'the' cpu's for Tarkov.
My current specs are: i7-6700k, gtx1070, 16gb ddr4 3800mhz.
At low settings, I get about 80-120fps in Tarkov with some dips at 1080p. People keep telling me ill get like 180fps constant with the 5800x3d on the current graphic settings I play on. Is that possible paired with my gtx 1070? I saw this cpu/mobo/ram bundle at Micro Center and it's only 350 dollars and I can use my memory with it so id have 32gb running at 3200mhz.
I rather spend 350 now to hold me over until something like GTA 6 comes out rather than drop 3k on a new PC/monitor now for 2 old games. I also don't want to spend 350 dollars if it's only going to give me a 10% gain in performance but I was just curious because everyone says these cpu's run Tarkov so easy.
Thanks!

Have you ever wanted to buy a game on Steam but didn't know if it was good? Have you ever had just enough money for an indie game but didn't know whether it was worth buying? Have you ever asked yourself, "Should I buy this game?"
Im searching for a cool modern day Extraction / Loot Shooter which is just a tiny bit more casual then EFT. Played Tarkov some hours but the game is just too much for me. Too hardcore to say.Sadly one of the games that I had some fun with already closed their gates due to hackers and whatnot, Im talking about The Cycle Frontier, that game was the perfect fit for me.
I know there are some games on the horizon that can probably fit my description, for example Once Human, Beautiful Light or even Division Heartland. BUT they are on the horizon
There is also a possibility that as of today there are no games that fit my description, but thats why I ask you guys.
And if u recommend games, really stay with my description, I dont wanna see Games like Hunt here or some Topdown game or something. Modern Day Weapons, First or Third Person Shooter, and obviously PvPvE.
I hope someone has the golden Game I search and I just dont know about its existence yet.

Holy crap it has been a while LOL. With the new wipe coming up I have some more shit to update but I am pleased to present my 3.0 version of my guide! but I finally got around to updating it!
IF YOU HAVE ANY ISSUES WITH FORMATTING, PLEASE USE CHROME OR DOWNLOAD THE PDF!
I am actually going to be working (for realsies this time) on my new guide for intermediate players which will include:
-
Map traversal tips: How/where to jump to traverse terrain quickly without causing fractures/black legs (Note: I will include mantling tips whenever that's released.)
-
Map Migration Routes: Where and how PMCs spawn and where they tend to move, common sight lines for first contact.
-
Combat: Risk vs Reward assessments, how to recognize what gun is being fired, When to push vs hold an angle.
-
Quest/Hideout Prioritization: Exact routes to run to best complete quests and hideout for optimal setup to generate profit via Hideout crafting at different stages of the wipe as well as via bitcoin/scav case, using best available information.
That's obviously going to be a lot of work but I have a foundational framework already in place. I plan on hosting my next guide version on my own website (I'm learning web dev so might as well use what I learn hunh!) along with some fun tools.
Like my guide? Great, let me know in the comments! If you play Sea of Thieves What about Puzzle Pirates? (If you have no idea what puzzle pirates is, that's normal.)
Note: If this counts towards #TarkovTips I'd be very surprised but happy (But I doubt it would.)
Like it? Hate it? Did I miss anything? Let me know!

As it stands, the game currently is lacking a huge part of the gritty atmosphere, which is in-depth death and corpses. Right now it’s just a ragdoll, a groan, and a blood splatter or two, but it could be way more interesting with a few improvements.
I’m talking visible blood as it spurts out of wounds, pools that collect around the body, and possibly even a bleed out animation - kind of like insurgency: sandstorm’s. imagine looting a scav who’s still breathing, blinking and coughing up blood. tarkov already makes you think about what you took from someone as you killed them, what better way to drive this home than some PTSD?

Hello !
As we all are aware, EFT: Arena is dropping soonTM
So lets go over some of the main talking points:
-
Do we know when it is dropping?
-
No
-
Do we think its going to be soon?
-
Yes, it was discussed in a dev stream as dropping before wipe. Wipe was confirmed as sometime this month
-
How can I play Arena?
-
A couple of ways - one, get EOD. EOD will be going away soon. If you like a bigger secure container at the start of wipe, and access to Arena and content drops, EOD isnt a bad deal. Otherwise, you need to pre-order it as a standalone.
-
My launcher shows arena now, but its not working. WHY?
-
Because it isnt live yet
-
Can we post content/leaks from Arena before its live?
-
No, follow the same rules that apply to ETS content
-
How do I access Arena when its ready?
-
You need to go to the official arena site, log in to your EFT account, and ensure you have requested access at release. There is a you need to click. When you click it, you will see one of two images
-
-
Once Escape From Tarkov: Arena goes live for everyone, we will adjust our rules to adapt to the new game and playstyle and content.
Reminder: We (The moderation team) are not BSG, we are a community/fan run subreddit. We are as excited for this as everyone, and know as much as the rest of you all.*

12/11 Update on Wipe info below
Hello Everyone!
This post is intended to do a few things:
-
Overall Community Health
-
Reminder on the Rules
-
Rule 3 - Abusive Poor Behavior
-
Rule 2 - Content Guidelines
-
Rule 7 - Cheating Discussion
-
Rule 8 - ETS
-
-
Wipe Info (We don't know specifics, this is a general info dump on what we do know and what we can assume)
Overall Community Health
We (the mod team) wanted to thank you all for keeping this community as active as it is. We currently stand as one of the largest gaming subreddits around, with 857,000 subscribers and an average of 1,500 active viewers at any given time. We have seen increases around wipe, and decreases in mid-late wipe, and the cheating debacle earlier this year reduced the volume of subs as well.
Subreddit Content, User Reports and Moderation Actions
This year saw one of the biggest changes to the subreddit in how the subreddit is actually being managed. After a leadership shakeup earlier in the year, the moderation team held a series of discussions, some with community included as posts/comment threads, to gain a better understanding of what the *community actually wants* vs what the ruleset was allowing for.
Moderation Changes
The first large change was that we stopped policing the "unmoderated" queue. When posts go live, they end up in one of two queues - Unmoderated and Moderated. Unmoderated posts immediately, but allows the moderation team to review if it breaks any rules. The mod team used to review every single post that came through the door. We stopped this because:
-
It was unsustainable
-
It led to burnout
-
It was blocking too many borderline posts from going live
When we stopped doing that, we continued reviewing the moderation queue. The moderation queue are all posts and comments that have been flagged by YOU for review.
During the cheating discussion blowup, one of the messages we heard loud and clear was that the community wanted to do some self-policing, rather than relying on moderation to cull the malcontents.
The data below are the reports reviewed for both comments, and for posts, and their reported reason since June (as far back as this data is available).
As noted earlier, the bulk of our volume is during early wipe, this usually runs for a month or two before volume dies off.
Reminder on the Rules
We have seen an increase in reports this year compared to years prior. A few months ago, we published a breakdown on a number of these rules, but we want to reiterate a number of them right now, as we prep for wipe.
-
Rule 2 - Content Guidelines
-
Monitor Photos - They look like potato. We have users across mobile, desktop etc etc and pictures look like crap. There are a number of ways to screenshot and post:
-
Win-Shift-S (aka Snipping tool or Snip And Sketch) - it comes standard on windows, and a trained sea otter can probably use it.
-
Print Screen - this saves a screenshot to your Tarkov folder
-
-
-
Rule 3 - Abusive & Poor Behavior
-
sums it up pretty well.
-
TLDR: Stop throwing around terms used for medical conditions as pejoratives. The majority of the subreddit stood behind this message, and we aren't arguing with people about it in modmail.
-
Common arguments (seen weekly, if not more frequently):
-
"In my culture its not a slur", "I have [this condition] and I can use it how I want", "This is tarkov, we should be able to talk shit", "you are violating my first amendment rights"
-
OK - Doesn't matter about your culture, we are a multicultural subreddit, and you need to be respectful. It doesn't matter if you have said condition, we have no way to verify that, and there are plenty of people who don't want to have those terms and phrases thrown around. Tarkov is a tough game, and you can talk shit - but do it like a normal adult, not a pre-pubescent ragebaby in a Halo 2 lobby. Your first amendment rights don't apply on Reddit and Reddit allows the moderators to moderate how they see fit. We, and the community, don't want those terms thrown around. If you have questions, feel free to ask.
-
-
No posting chat logs with cheaters.
-
Rule 7 - Cheating Discussions
-
Reminder: Talk all you want about cheating but do NOT:
-
Accuse other players of cheating and naming them - you have no real evidence and it leads to witch hunts
-
Chat logs - see rule 3
-
Post screenshots of YouTube ads for cheats
-
Ask about your "buddy" who got banned and how he can get it reversed
-
Cheat providers have, in the past, posted videos of their cheats in action under the guise of "look at what I found on a LFG discord!" while it blatantly says the cheat provider name on the screen. We tread lightly around allowing this stuff because (and I think we all agree), Fuck those assholes.
-
-
Rule 8 - Reposts and ETS
-
You are under an NDA regarding ETS. Its not our job to babysit your decisions about posting what happens on ETS, but Reddit could come after the sub for allowing the content, so don't do it. What happens on ETS stays on ETS and the official EFT ETS Discord.
-
Wipe Info
We know a few things based on dev streams and announcements:
-
Wipe will be in December
-
Wipe will likely be on December 26th. NoiceGuy's community reviewed the recent video and images BSG released, ran it through the spectrograph, found some hidden messages that in binary translated to 26/12. This is by no means an official rubber stamp, but I'd assume its accurate.
-
Arena theoretically will release BEFORE wipe
-
There are events leading up to wipe
-
Wipe resets your account
-
EOD Purchasing will go away soon, so if you want that sweet stash space and gamma, get to it.
-
There are currently some people talking about a new map that is Level-limited (Timmy Map) but we don't know much beyond that.
All in all its been a chaotic 2023 - thank you for continuing to participate in the sub. Report the rulebreakers, get ready for wipe, and have a great 2024.
-Your moderation team

Hey fellow Tarkovians,
I never thought I'd be writing a post like this, but here I am, feeling compelled to share my experiences with Escape from Tarkov and how it has taken over my life in unexpected ways.
First off, let me say that I love EFT. The adrenaline rush, the intense firefights, and the satisfaction of extracting with valuable loot are unmatched in the gaming world. However, there comes a point when a game stops being just a game and starts to seep into every aspect of your existence.
I started playing EFT casually, just a raid here and there to unwind after a long day. Soon enough, though, it became a full-blown obsession. I found myself neglecting real-life responsibilities, skipping social events, and even calling in sick to work just to get that extra raid in. The game's punishing nature and the fear of losing my hard-earned gear pushed me deeper into the rabbit hole.
And then there's the impact on my sex life. It's embarrassing to admit, but my priorities became so skewed that I found myself choosing Tarkov over spending quality time with my partner. I'd be lying if I said I haven't lost track of the number of times I've used the excuse "just one more raid" instead of being present in the moment.
I recently decided to uninstall the game and take a step back. It's not easy, and the withdrawal symptoms are real, but I can't let a video game control my life like this. It's time to rediscover balance, rebuild relationships, and regain control of my time.
I'm sharing this not as a criticism of Escape from Tarkov but as a cautionary tale. It's essential to recognize when a game, no matter how thrilling, starts negatively impacting your real-world experiences. So, fellow Tarkovians, take a moment to reflect on your gaming habits and ensure that you're still living a healthy and balanced life outside of the virtual battlefield.
Stay safe, both in Tarkov and in reality.
