Tesla
Just commenting on the recent media coverage of an accident in the Toronto area where an underage driver crashed into a townhouse injuring several people.
Virtually all of the media feeds reporting this incident highlighted the fact that a Tesla crashed into a townhouse (in both headlines and first paragraph of the coverage). Had the driver in question been driving any other car, the reporting would not have highlighted the brand of the car.
Further evidence that the Tesla haters are everywhere.

So apparently Tesla never sent the required document to the IRS for purchasers to receive the tax credit for a lot of Teslas purchased in 2023. If you don’t see the clean vehicle seller credit document in your account, then Tesla never submitted it to the IRS and you most likely won’t get the tax credit. Apparently Tesla is going to be sending a notification through the app to submit our social security number so the document can be filled out and sent to the IRS but I don’t trust them at all.
Does anyone have more info on this? Apparently the form has to be submitted to the IRS by January 15th.

The level of vertical integration that BYD has is such a major advantage, especially since they own and operate the design and manufacturing of the batteries in their vehicles. The major support that BYD has from the Chinese government is also unprecedented. China has been making concerted efforts to be the global leader in EVs for over a decade now, and their strategy seems to be paying off.

This happened over a years. It’s not through any retirement accounts, but through Robinhood. They know they messed up, but keep saying it’s too late for them to back it up. Their life is constantly on edge, and my dad looks up at the graphs like a maniac 24/7/365.
I am not sure how to help them as I’m still just a college student who’s barely going through BS2.

Value investing in all its forms - From Graham & Dodd, to Buffett & Munger, to their philosophical descendants today
I wondered this back in June of 2023 and the stock is up 8-9% since then, but I still can't believe the amount of belief and money people continue to invest in this company. Everything about it goes against everything I have ever read about value investing. I see nothing that justifies what it currently trades at. It isn't even the worlds largest EV seller anymore and despite steep price cuts, its growth rate has slowed. I get investors who believe in Tesla are likely looking for quick returns, but it's trading at 76 times it's earnings! As of 2024, some of its models no longer benefit from the $7,500 tax credit that the Biden administration implemented. EV sentiment continues to drop as people simply don't want to pay that premium for a car they aren't sure won't leave them stranded. In the past two months, they've had to recall around 3.6 millions cars due to autopilot issues. I also think Elon is a complete lunatic. I'm pretty jacked up on a couple cups of coffee right now, so maybe this is an overreaction. I'd really like someone to play devils advocate for the company right now, because as I see it, there is no redeeming quality. Thanks.
