History is full of ironic quotations. Here are two dark ones:
"I do not want to get killed today at all." - Turenne, July 27 1675, right before being eviscerated by a cannonball.
"They couldn't hit an elephant at this distance." - John Sedgwick, May 9, 1864, right before being shot dead.
